The guy in the video is Papa Nihl, who is the lead singer on the 7 Inches of Sataic Panic EP, which "takes place" in 1969. The woman is Sister Imperator who is Papa IV's mother.
I loved watching your reaction to this video! I had a similar take when I first watched it. It got a bit better when I understood the tie in to the lore. The dancers don't really fit in, but I sincerely respect those dance moves with a wide stance and in high heels no less..

The original video for this was a collection of various people (CELEBS) reacting to listening to the song. they redid it later to be an origin story for papa nihil when he joins the clergy and meets sister imperator (who Mary on a cross is about)

It was part of the marketing to the release of the prequelle album. If I remember right it was released in chunks and slowly built over a few weeks.

You had so many surprised looks during this video... Just to give you some background.. Looking at the lore and history of ghost, this allegedly shows the first meeting back in the 70:s between Sister Imperator and Papa Nihil, the first ever Ghost vocalist.. That's why the feel of the song is well rooted in 70:s sound and disco. 😀 The meeting must be arranged.. somehow.. As you can see in the opening scene.. The guy at the door is quite dismissive.. until he realizes that the person to his right is actually the guy supposed to become Papa Nihil. So he states "We've been expecting you".. Sister Imperator, waiting patiently.. recognizes Papa, and connects with him.. She gives Papa his first skull paint during the party, and as you can see she knocks Papas left eye white which becomes the well known mark of all the Papa characters.. Being their first meeting.. also explains the "The beginning" line at the end of the video. And of course, Baphomet came to witness the whole ceremony...

Edit: The friend of Papa, the "this is the place, man", is portrayed by the same actor that is in the Square Hammer video. The dude that enters the cave in the black and white movie they are all watching at the Meliora Grand Theater.. 😃

There is a "problem" in the lore..
According to the lore, Ghosts first gig was at the Whiskey-a-Go-Go in LA where they were a supporting act to Teri Reid and Spooky Tooth on the 13th of September 1969. They performed Kiss The Go Goat and Mary On A Cross. The so called re-release of these songs on the very same date in 2019, was on the 7 Inches of Satanic Panic single. This to celebrate their 50th anniversary.
From the music video of Kiss the Go Goat you can clearly see that Sister Imperator is pregnant (most probably with Cardinal Copia) as she embraces her belly and trashes the girl beside her who is smoking when they are both standing on the balcony. That means that Papa Nihil and Sister Imperator must have met before that day.
That in opposition to the 70:s sound and feel (specially tambourine and open-closing hi-hat on the drums) from Dance Macabre, and the fact that their clothing as well as the dressing and hairstyle of the dancers in the video leans heavily against late 70:s, even 80:s creates a discrepancy.
When confronted with this, Tobias Forge said.. I wanted to make this video and that video and said "fuck it" about the timeline. 🙂
Another sort of "explanation" that has been suggested from fans is that Dance Macabre is from the Prequelle album, which is Cardinal Copias album, and that this is how he depicted the meeting of his parents. I personally prefer the "fuck it" from Tobias 🙂
We don't actually know when Ghost started rehearsing as a band, but "well before the seventies" is I think a stretch. Obviously some time before September 1969, tho.
FunFact: Tobias, as a fun "payback" to the "hard core metal" naysayers that has trashed Ghost calling them "Scooby Doo Metal", placed this live event back in 1969 at that specific date intentionally... Guess what else happened on that day? It's the premiere date of the first ever episode of the Scooby Doo series.

@@_SledgeHammer_ I really don't know what you're talking about when you say the sound and clothes are 70s. They aren't. The sound is very invocative of The Doors who are from the sixties and the clothing is as well. I knew exactly what decade it was supposed to be without them having to tell me at all. Even if they were and they aren't that wouldn't somehow constitute a lore gap. The lore is pretty blatant that it's the sixties. This is like when people say that Mary On The Cross isn't about drugs because Tobias said so one time.
