The reason Tobias sounds so different in different albums is because he purposely alters her voice a little bit to give each papa their unique voice! He’s so talented I’m in love with ghost😭
He also has a problem with his nose

It blows my mind that Tobias has been able to change his voice. It is just genius how he is able to create this entire fictional world, and thinks of everything down to his singing voice.
I have also heard that he has practiced his singing a lot after the breakthrough. That is something to respect, striving to be better even-though the project was on track.

Ghost is the Kiss of the new millennium. No matter how cheesy you think they are, no matter how much you dislike them, there is still always that one Kiss/Ghost song you can listen to without sneering.

You’re going to love Rats and Dance Macabre, especially the original music videos.
This song is an esoteric ode to Freemasonry (isn’t that fitting?). The square, level, nails in a coffin, ringing of the bell are all symbolism for third degree masonry. Tobias isn’t advocating swearing to the devil, but it is the question being asked to those undergoing this rite and denotes the seriousness of the inductee in being truthful in their desires to uphold the secrets and and duties of such.
My intro to Ghost was a reactor to this song years ago. Now I'm a huge fan.

Late to this sorry but this song is about being a Freemason . Being squared and leveled when conversing with other brothers. It also refers to the first degree of freemasonry a bit.
I know it seems like a lot of people are reacting to "Mary on a Cross", but if you thought Square Hammer was catchy, that one will stay in your head for days! I have so loved seeing you react to Ghost. I can't imagine what it would be like, jumping around the songs like you are as it really would feel like Tobias is in a different band each time.
Tobias is a good songwriter, he's Swedish so of course he's a fan of Abba, he's learned how to write a great catchy pop hook
A lot of bands get accused of being satanic. This is not the case here. They are very open about it.

Ghost is pop metal, some love it some hate it, nobody is indifferent about them though.
I've recently discovered Ghost 🙄 I heard Mary on a cross and fell in love with the lyrics and then hearing this song, Spillways and all the guitar riffs. It's like an orgasm and the riffs and drums in Year zero, my gosh 😍

5:17 cool version of a pop song haha, yeah, a lot of people do say they sound like "goth Abba" but honestly you'd probably feel the same towards Spillways, Dance Macabre, Kiss The Go-Goat, and plenty of others! Don't worry, not an offensive way to describe it!
If you like catchy, then there are songs on their new album 'Impera' that should grab your attention - Spillways, Griftwood. Others are great for different reasons (the whole album is killer). They're not nicknamed 'ABBA Sabbath' for nothing! ;-)

I had to keep pausing every time her says “right here, right now” because the song with that title from the 90’s by Jesus Jones kept popping into my head. I really like this one. I’m not immune to a catchy tune. ✌️🤘
Disappointed it's a lyric video (and a lyric video that gets some of the lyrics completely wrong I might add) and not the actual music video, but still glad to see you react to more of my favourite band

If you see them live, and they are fucking amazing, you’d totally get it. There’s a charismatic Jack Sparriw like campiness to Papa Emeritus stage presence while the guitar playing Nameless Ghouls steal his limelight. It’s they most amazing show. So heavy with a stupid amount of melody. It’s ridiculously good. And I’m still singing every song three weeks on.

TF's lyrics often pertain to several things at once, or at least can be read several ways, leading to a lot of confusion/discussion about what the songs mean amongst the fanbase (he does however always add in a bit of Satan! :). Growing focus on the anti-Christ has been a running theme through Ghosts albums till here where we are asked to "swear right here... before the devil".
That alone seems to mean this is about selling your soul to the devil, but TF has also mentioned parts of this relate to the stress of his lawsuit with the ex-Ghouls and about people going back on their word. But most say its about Freemasonry and the secret-ish society the Masons have been for centuries (being "on the square" or "on the level" are terms for being trustworthy and upfront).
IMO "square hammer" comes from the tool (with a chisel) masons used to work freestone into ornamental masonry, a metaphor for "molding" someone to follow a defined path already chosen (ie. the devil). But hey, thats just my interpretation of the title.
Btw if you like these so far.... Impera is going to BLOW your mind.

Not only your favorite because this actually was Ghost first Billboard number one. A Ghoul Writer is Tobias Forge. On some songs you also can see Indigo Marcato credited and that is Martin Persner, the old rhythm guitarist that no longer is a part of Ghost. Check out the new single Jesus He Knows Me next. It's a cover of the old Genesis hit. Why? Trust me you will understand when you see it 😅

Time for you to react to some live stuff, Ghost "Mary on a Cross" live from Tampa 2022. Fantastic harmonies singing from all but especially from the three ghoulettes (females) in the band.
Jump into the deep end of the pool and do a segment on King Diamond or Merciful Fate. Ghost is a shell of King, wanting to look and be him but come across more like ABBA!
I would like to see more Ghost videos. They are not a metal band or trying to be... But none the less, they are one of my favorite bands for countless reasons.

It's all about squares and circles : ) Two others I can recommend from Meliora is "From the Pinnacle to the pit" and "Majesty".
Ghost, especially starting with Meliora, has a very "pop" sound that can scare certain metal fans away. I dig that they're heavy, give me some 80s Ozzy riffs every now and again and can have a very pop sound every now and again. The last two albums, some songs have a very theatrical feel (Spillways, Witch Image). If you want a good toe tapper, listen to Dance Macabre.
