Dude, thanks a million-- this video is entirely responsible for my successfully replacing the starter on my '95 Lesabre today. Especially the part where you locate the back bolt-- the long one-- and then suggest to put that one back in first when installing the new starter.

This was very helpful for showing my son that it was not going to be too hard to accomplish this project once watching this. (Very close to his model and year). Thanks for your effort and contribution!

just got the motor off, gonna go to the store soon to get a new starter, thanks really helped. was a little different with my supercharger there was a shield infront of both bolts which confused me cause it hid the bolt in the back so i thought maybe theres just one bolt hahaha. took of the shield and was able to move it just enough to take the starter off. thanks a bunch.

This is the best video I've seen on replacing the starter. Very thorough and well recorded. Thank you.

I couldn't find a video for my 95 Bonneville, but your video looks like it will work just fine. Thank you for posting.

Thank you for your video. I find it very helpful and I'm more confident in trying to do this on my own car. Which is a 2001 Buick Century.

Hey thanks for the vid...that rear bolt is hard to find if one wasnt aware of the plastic useless shroud...thanks again..

Shawn Mckay I think you missed the point. The plastic inspection cover shroud that is "missing" from this vehicle is not necessary for the starter functioning, but it does have a "purpose." The plastic inspection shroud (two-pieces) keeps dirt and road debris from entering the flywheel housing. To consider it "useless" is just as ignorant as driving your car without an air filter.

@@FatManDoubleZero how do I remove the second piece of the shroud?

Thanks, for making a complete video, and explaning what and how you are doing things. I have a 94/ 3800 and it has just began the miss every now and then. This takes a lot of the ..OH crap! out of it. Also it has just began to miss some when cold and moister level is up....Think will chang wires and plugs...don't know that it has ever been done??? 105K....Berry

Very helpful! I'm about to start this project and I'm feeling fairly confident, until the last part where you need to install the shims.... Don't know about those! Thanks uploader!

Good info on sending unit I need to replace starter on ' 94 park Ave and my parts store would let me return unused parts w/o a restocking charge so I'll get one and hope I don't have to use it .

That plastic splash shield is necessary and needed. Without it in place, all of your electrical connections as well as you brake lines in that area of the engine area as well as your flywheel will be exposed to the weather elements. You need that plastic splash shield!

The other videos I've watched regarding changing starters on the 3800 of that year show three bolts, not just two. Is the third one that's missing from your video the one that holds the splash shield on? Must be. I'll know soon :-(
