Trying another EV. Anyone else still not quite convinced??

@prettypiano1203 I preferred this car to the Ionic but like you i'm still not convinced on the whole EV thing yet. Happy to sit back and watch for now.
Got another EV to try next week, slightly lower down the food change (the 2 i've tried so far are fairly expensive) maybe that will make more sense.

You do actually have an hotkey for turning off lane assist, at least on my Q4. I have a button on the tip of my indicator, and if you hold that for 3 sec it turns off.:) The button is actually used to turn on/off a more advanced lane assist.

I have owned many fast ICE cars and loved them
Maybe because I am old now, I own 2 EVs, A Tesla MY and a BMW i3, and absolutely love them both.
EVs are so much better to drive than ICE with the instant torque. Regen braking took me about 5 mins to get used to and I would hate to not have it. Both cars have fixed regen settings , which I like. The i3 is really fun to drive and very nippy with a sharp throttle response
I got 15,000 miles free charging with the Tesla - which will actually end up being near to 20,000, with the miles/ kWh conversion rate they give. The other 10k miles will be cheap night charging at home which means that my 'fuel' cost for the entire 30k miles lease will be £200 !!
I would never have an EV if I could not charge at home and would have to think hard if I did a lot of long journeys

EV power costs only look good due to high cost of petrol and diesel in UK. Where I live, it is often cheaper to use diesel for long journeys (trips needing a stop or more on the motorway). Financially, for my usage (30km commute, some 300km runs, and some 1000+km runs), it makes no sense to swap my Audi A4 Avant 2.0 TDi 150 for any EV when you take purchase price into consideration. With regard to acceleration, my Audi will keep up with the reviewed car (with the exception of the first 20 metres - traction is my limiting factor). Most EV's are useless above 130kph - 100 kph short of my V-max (£500 custom re-map: at the wheels: limited to 180BHP and 410Nm, without the limiter at the crank 218BHP and 520Nm, just in case you were wondering). However, I would buy a Tesla Model Y if their build quality was better and mining of minerals for the battery did not destroy the local/international environment!

A lot of what you say makes perfect sense. Can only really base things on what I know here in the uk where EVs are really being pushed and financially have many benefits, particularly if leased though a salary sacrifice scheme. Gets you into a high value car for low monthly payments whilst saving on income tax. Tbh probably what I’ll look to do for my next daily. Which one though, no idea 🤔

Yes but which car would be most comfortable for the labradors? Clearly the q4

Do you not think that electric costs are also higher in the UK... done the math's and this would save me £1200 a year in running costs based on 10k a year.
As for being useless above 130km, how is that an issue given that is 80mph.
So sure keep your existing car, but my Q5 is running into higher maintenance costs (gear box just went) so this is no brainer, it runs cheaper and build quality is vastly superior to the Model Y, will be picking up one 1/2 years old shortly for around £30k.

I also have a Q4 if you hold the button at the end of the indicator for about 5 seconds it turns off lane assist it comes back on every time you start the car but it also annoys me 😂
