Great video, iX2 is a great car. Excellent ride and handling with all tech needed. However I didn’t like the looks and went in for a iX1. Loved the traditional SUV look of iX1 xdrive 30😃
@@AutoEVwe are getting a longer (+150mm) wheelbase iX1 here in China as that is a selling point. But the Onvo L60 came out and everyone wants to buy it as it only cost 150K rmb (with 600 kuai monthly battery rent fee). In comparison he iX1 is around 350K and BMW is collapsing here in China at the moment alongside Mercedes (outdated tech) and Porsche (no one wants the Macan EV). VW just closed their largest factory in Shanghai while the ID 6 seems to sell (it is cheap here).
Love the review, first time I have watched your videos and you have earned yourself a subscriber sir! I am in Hong Kong and just ordered mine yesterday, both ix2 30 and 20 in HK have electric seats!
Great review. Im ordering one next week (with electric seats!!) Its a rental company car whic means with discounts it will be the same renting price as the tesla y and comes cheaper than the q4 and even the skoda enyaq. Again, all due to bmw discounts towards company renting.
I actually think the rear 3/4 is ok. It’s the front which is more questionable. We have an iX1 which we like but my wife doesn’t like the grill. We do however have electric seats!!!
Storm Bay. I was offered a car in that colour, but it had a black interior and no sunroof, so I went with my second colour choice to get the interior and glass roof.
Not that strange, the huge blanked off black kidney grilles and other dark section at the front look pretty gross. The back end not so much. I quite like the rear lights, then again it’s got a couple of nasty black carbuncles on the back bumper so overall not much of a looker.
Love your videos. Kia next? Have you considered having your breathing capacity checked? Your deep drawing of breath maybe an indication of an issue with your lungs.
I think 220-230 miles real world is absolutely more than adequate for a vast majority of people 95%+ of the time. My biggest issue with EVs is that there are vast amounts of households who just can’t charge at home and for me is where the whole mandate falls apart, then add price into the factor, then depreciation and it’s a disaster waiting to happen. I’m lucky because I can charge at home but would I buy an EV if I didn’t have that option, the simple answer is no and I think that’s why EV’s are a hard sell.
Just need to get things like kerbo charge approved everywhere so that people in terraced homes can charge for cheap without being a menace. Personally I see the mandate as very sensible, we've realized that using oil for transport is going to ruin the living conditions for our children and grandchildren. It's something I think we should be prepared to spend some tax dollars on solutions for charging an EV, or having some mild inconvenience for. Hardly a large sacrifice in the big picture. If you look at countries like Norway, you just see they have got on and built the infrastructure, rather than shouting from the rooftop's that it's not there and we can't do it.
@@PortfolioPL hybrids are the solution because electric and ICE work in perfect harmony and the battery is small enough to charge like that. Making full EV the solution isn’t the solution and just won’t work. I’m lucky to be able to charge on my driveway but that’s not the same for everyone.
I enjoy your reviews. I have an Audi Q6 e-tron on order which should arrive at the end of November and I will do a video review of it. I have a similar complaint already to yours about the level of standard equipment, because there are several things that are options on the Audi but which I think should be standard in an expensive car from a luxury brand (e.g. comfort armrest, some of the storage options, fast charging USB ports). However, I think I disagree with you about the electric seats. I certainly want these in my car and I included that option, but if someone is buying the car and will definitely be the only driver, they are a waste of money since the driver's seat can be set once and then forgotten.
@@AutoEV Ah great, I look forward to your take on it! Obviously I'm biased because I've ordered one and I shall denounce you in the strongest terms in the comments under that video if your evaluation is even the slightest bit less enthusiastic than mine! Actually, I've made some notes for my own review already and I have quite a lot of criticisms, it's just that most of them aren't things that particularly bother me.
Even my Niro level 4 has electric seats on both front seats and memory seats for the driver, which is brilliant also heated and ventilated seats 💺 , BMW you should be ashamed of yourselves 😮😮
Oh, I don’t know. It’s quite deep, but the window is quite steeply raked. My dog is very much smaller and never goes in the boot. Have you visited your local dealer? Best to check.
I just don’t believe BMW have it anymore with the current generation of cars, lots of cheap-looking piano black trim and headlights that look like they were designed for another car
I'd have chosen an iX1 over the 2 model. More space for less cash. It's like the X2/ X4 and X6 models with the sloping roofs. As Matt Watson said about the X2 review he did . Just buy an X1 .
True, but the Taycan won’t be for everyone. It’s like saying you can get a used M3 for the same price as a new X3. Different cars - different strokes for different folks. But it’s a fair point.
It's hideous. Worse in the flesh than in pictures. It looks like a cut n shut. All out of proportion. Holy moly it's genuinely one of the worst looking cars ever made.
Poorly equipped ???. You must be kidding ! Please do tell what features you'd like added. It has indicator stalks, HUD, radar and instrument cluster which another cost cutting brand deletes. And you must be confusing BMW with other German brands, BMW sales are going well world wide.
The looks of the iX2 have grown on me post your videos.
Good review as ever. It's an impressive car with impeccable engineering, rather like my iX.

In fairness, I prefer the looks of the iX1 too.
I prefer the looks of the ix2. Yes I'm one of those. But the ix1 is the better one. More space and very good looking. best of luck with it!

I like the looks a lot actually, back the front the all of it. Back is high to give us that massive 560L trunk! Size or g31 touring!

Let us know how you get on with it!
@ picked it up and wow loving it. Same blue and interior as your one. Only bit I'm not enjoying is setting up octopus go!

Agreed. I’m a headteacher and lead a busy life. I just don’t have the brain space to plan how I’m going to charge it

To say Audi is a luxury brand is stretching the word a tad. Audi more "Aspirational."
Bentley, Aston Martin, luxury
Going to be reviewing the Q6 etron very soon.

Is there even a marked difference in driving dynamics on a FWD-biased AWD BEV vs a RWD-biased AWD one?
Would a labrador fit in the boot of the ix2?

@ thanks, yeah the height was my concern! Think I’ll need to go and see it in person! Great video btw.

ix2 is cheaper on my salary sacrifice than the ix1 for some reason. About £100 a month difference.
It might be great on your favourite road but not for £66,000. You can get a used Porsche Taycan for that.

Drop it 20cm and call it a 2 series 5 door hatchback and i might be interested for £40k or less

66k 😂

This poorly equipped car, for this ridiculous price, is an insult to the car buyer. No wonder BMW is in big trouble.
