I'm not a smoker so I don't pay attention to it but Germans have been offering smoking kits for ages as an option. Now it seems Audi has ditched it as a standalone option and made it part of their storage package (the one that gives you cargo nets and such). At least on the Q6. It's been years since I looked at an Audi. So, you should see it more often as that package is quite popular. I vaguely recall a car where the central screen would show one thing to a driver and another to a passenger. E.g. navigation for driver and movie for passenger. I can't recall what car it was, my bet would be either Mercedes or Audi. Maybe 15 years ago.
@@donvanvliet9477 Probably not. I only considered XK and F-Type and it doesn't ring a bell. If it was JLR, then it must have been Range Rover. I think it was a large sedan. My best guess would be W221 S-Klasse. It was central screen, reasonably high (= not low). Cadillac is also a possibility. As is BMW. I recall it was an option and not cheap. Something like dual view. I just remember thinking that I wouldn't pay that much just so my passenger can watch movies while I drive. But it's definitely an interesting concept, showing different things to driver and passenger.
This might be a decent EV for petrolheads who want to make the switch. But experienced EV drivers will find those regen paddles quite irritating.. Most EVs you simply put the car in gear and it has full regen. With Audis you put the car in gear but then as you start out you must then use the paddles to select some level of regen by pulling on the paddle multiple times. . AND, in my experience with Audi even the max regen is not as strong and efficient as regen on other EVs. Secondly, the map does NOT allow you to tweak the display while driving. Instead it gives you a message that "For your safety you cannot adjust the display while driving" !!! So, your car simply drives off the map so the map becomes useless!
Should I wait for the Q6 e tron to be available in the US by late this year or just lease a Q8 e tron now? I like the faster charging speed and new tech of the Q6, but would take advantage of the bigger back seat and trunk in the Q8. If price were the same, I would get the Q8, but Q6 will obviously be cheaper, but maybe minimally so right at launch
No wonder the EU wants to tax Chinese EV's out of existence. When will these manufacturers come back down to earth, hopefully before they get wiped out by the Chinese competition.
What do you mean?. Price?, Audi is a premium car manufacturer. If you want a much cheaper car and still half decent, then maybe an MG ZS ev (which is Chinese)
@@BBingo-v5i i wont defend Tesla quality but in terms of onboard electronics and power this audi is nothing compared to somewhat old tesla model. Yet they are trying to make electric cars premium/costly. That is not happening that is why there is a big turn around in terms of electric cars. Tesla makes all their cars under 30K $ and Chinese went under 25k if im not mistaken.
Not people who get free flights accomodation and meals on the press jolly eh lol. No wonder these presenters are so positive about it . Wait till it gets to the UK and they realise it doesnt come anywhere near the range and charging speeds .
It’s still the early adopters era wrt to EV . With the manufacturers concentrating on the big ticket items on which they can try and make a decent profit margin. To answer the question who is buying £60K+ EVs - In the UK I’d suggest - Business owners who can write the purchase price off against business tax, retirees with their windfalls, other people with access to windfalls and the double income no kids yet middle-class eco-friendly strata. The amount of interior space especially rear cabin seems very poor in a car 4.771 m long. It’s longer than a Tesla model Y (4.750m), longer than an I-pace (4.682m). Some of that boot space might have been better shared with rear cabin?! The ionic 5 at 4.635m boast just 2L less boot space and significantly more rear passenger space while being over all 13.6cm shorter. Good luck getting that Q6 parked in a UK multi storey car park or city parking space. It’ll have appeal to existing Audi SUV ICE drivers wanting free ULEZ access, lower servicing costs and potentially business tax breaks. I’d be interested to learn the comfort features do rear seats recline, slide? Are front seats available as ventilated, massage seat functions? HUD? Panoramic sunroof? with blind? Etc.
Thank you for the video! Great to see the progress made by electric cars. I hope Audi can put this to work in a less chunky, less expensive package. I own a 2018 A4 avant (basic petrol model) and would love to find something similar.
I find it insane that in my country the difference between the Macan 4s and the sq6 is 1k. They have basically same power and range. Why would I buy an Audi over a Porsche…
@@Rumblingbelly and yeah I think between the 2, the 4s has upgraded suspension, upgraded interior, and 100 up more. In Switzerland it’s 5k more. Personally I think it’s worth it. If ur spending around 100k I don’t think 5k make a difference
I'm surprised there's a lot less space in the back than our Ioniq 5, with similar boot space too, and the I-5 isn't another SUV. I'll stick with the Ioniq 5 I think.
It has some good features. Good that they say it is built to be electric, not an electrified ICE car. Though I do question the front grill inlay and design of the centre console. Maybe Audi are not really convinced electric is the long term future and this car could be converted back to ICE? 😮
No, I dont think so. I think the idea is that they are just weaning people off the ICE concept in steps that customers can manage. It would be impossible to 'convert' the PPE platform to an ICE format. An EV stills needs a radiator (to cool the batteries) so some form of air intake is still needed. That intake in my Q8 etron has a flap to control the cooling flow.
So many cost options added to this car - you should have said which items were options. There must have been over £10,000 of extras on this car. Do not get the lowered powered version - it feels slow (I have driven it). Get the Q4 if you cannot afford the more powerful version. The Q4 feels like the same size inside and has way better city driving characteristics - the turning circle of the Q6 is over 12m but the Q4 is just over 10m. The Q4 has another advantage: the climate controls on the Q6 are only via the screen but the Q4 has dials for the controls. However, the only real difference between these cars the the option of a white interior for the Q6!
The only options on the Q6 eTron are the Sound & Vision pack (£3k), the storage pack (£500), Pano roof (£1k) towbar (£1k), plus colour and wheels. If you spec everything to the max it's £7k extra.
0 - 62 MPH in 5.9 seconds is "decent enough". FFS that's hot hatch territory. Why this obsession on one metric (0 -62 mph). The car is fast, very fast. Can we please have some sense of reality please
It's not about the sense of reality, but it's about what the competitors are giving you and Audi isn't. I've been driving Audis for 20 years and I find myself difficult to make this purchase over the Model Y. I mean look at the laughable leg room! The Germans had been taking our money for more speed, room, luxury etc for decades, and now it's taking it away from us and asking us to pay more? Ridiculous. I like the looks but cannot justify paying almost double for an inferior product.
What's wrong with the rear seat room?. All of your points of concern were not raised in the test, in fact they said they reverse. I don't think you're an Audi customer anyway are you?@alanc6416
@@stephen546 watch from 8:00. She’s also not that tall. And you’re right, I won’t be an Audi customer anymore if they think their customer for 20 years is stupid and I don’t know what you mean by all of my points but I had been paying Audi more for power, Quattro, and larger interior from A3 to Q7 over these 20 years, now they say it doesn’t matter? Mind you they are also selling the SQ6 e tron for €90k (more money for more power). It’s ridiculous for an EV in 2024
@@alanc6416 But it isn’t an inferior product. Tesla basically do 3 things really well in all their cars; electric performance (both driving and charging), practicality/space and price. In literally every other (arguably less essential) aspect like tech offering, seat comfort, (subjectively) exterior and interior design, build quality, premium features, suspension, headlights, cabin noise, audio system etc… this car is superior. Plus, thanks go the PPE and 800V, for once, it actually offers a genuine reason to ditch Tesla based on charging performance and range. It’s all about priorities.
It look like a same old same old design to me. I wanted a mind blowing design if I spend a lot of money on a expensive EV car. Chinese EV cars able to throw in some massager, ambience lighting and a small drink cooler to make it look fancy and practical! The last choice for me for an expensive EV car!
I don't like the idea of regen paddles. Don't know who that is made for. I would imagine you either want one pedal driving, or you don't. No need to have something to change it on the fly. Also, there was no discussion of how it handles road trips and suggesting chargeing stops, and what types of charging locations it recommends, or even has in the database. My personally, I would like a front that does not have some sort of fake grill. Those countours would be harder to keep clean, or put any type of wrap or film to protect it from wear.
@@mako9673 The EVs which have regen paddles behind the steering wheel is not so much about changing regen on the fly -but you can - but more about being able to switch from ipedal when in traffic to Auto or a low level of regen when on faster roads without having to navigate the function through a touch screen. In my GV60 I often do exactly that- it’s just a few extra miles of efficiency easily obtained. With accessibility like that you can easily improve the cars efficiency without other more intrusive adaptions to your driving like using ECO mode or using HVAC sparingly. In my GV60 2 years on and my RWD Premium model is showing a life time efficiency of 3.5 mi/kWh.
I test drove a Q6 a couple of days ago because I have one on order. I didn't really get the regen paddles either before driving it, as I don't yet drive an EV. However, the various regen modes (4 in total, including 1-pedal) are quite different and I can see that they suit different type of driving (motorway, town...). It was useful to be able to switch very quickly between the modes.
i'm a bit confused. Comparing this to say, the polestar 4. It's smaller inside, more expensive, less range, looks worse on the outside, and is less performant. how is it "equal or better" than this specific comparison?
It is not smaller inside due to the bigger headroom, it is also not really more expensive and it does look better than the Polestar 4, tho if the missing rear window is good design or bad is subjective. The Poleatar 4 is more performant, yes, but the Audi Q6 is a real SUV whereas the Polestar 4 is a crossover coupe. It should be faster and more efficient just because of its shape and market positioning. Every single point except for the design and the acceleration is wrong and those two can be argued about. On top of that the Audi has an 800V architecture, the Polestar has outdated 400V. The Interior is also better in the Audi. Audi clearly wins
@@BBingo-v5i agree to disagree. you get much more in the polestar over the audi. obviously looks are subjective, but interior space is not. having more headroom is useless to a rearward facing carseat or someone who is > 6ft tall and they're sitting behind someone who is 6ft tall. audi fumbled the packaging in their first bespoke EV. The terrible use of the center console space is a real headscratcher. What were they thinking? also, how can acceleration be argued about? As for the 800v vs 400v architecture, sure it would have be nice to have the additional charging speed. However, it's July and i've only had to charge publicly twice this year and each time for only 10mins (tampa to orlando and back). So it's not that big of a miss. What IS a big miss is not supporting V2L/V2G, which the polestar 4 does have. I'd rather charge slower than not have that.
I am never going to be in the market for this EV and I've considered Audi to be a bit joke in the EV market but they do appear to be upping their game. That rear passenger space is strangley limited
I know you just hate to mention Tesla but the model Y RWD is 44K and is about as quick as this Quattro that starts at 69K and we all know how the germans like to charge for the options. Overpriced.
@@rtfazeberdee3519bargain basement ? Much better car overall. Model Y is bigger more efficient and faster. Better tech overall. If you are obsessed with the noise of a door closing you are nuts.
I have an Ionic 5 Namsan and this audi costs almost twice as much but the Ionic has more toys and I think it looks better. Audi need to do much better than this if they want to sell cars!
They spent all the money they saved on not providing physical HVAC controls on SLOW motorised charging port flaps that'll annoy the crap out of you in the pouring rain, and fancy LED head/taillights that you'll never see and will quickly forget about. Madness. Also, I would like to have seen a demo of the acceleration the base Q6 provides, and some idea of how easy/difficult it is to turn off the nannying LKA and ISA systems. Apart from all that, I like it.
I tried the base Q6 and the acceleration is remarkable in comparison with my current car, a petrol A4 Avant with 190 horsepower (7.5s to 62mph). The combination of more horsepower (306) and instant response means that it feels much faster, even though the 0-62 time is "only" 6.7s.
People are so hung on acceleration speeds. Do you know how fucking quick 6 seconds is from 0-60. Rarely you’re pulling off from a standstill on a road with that speed limit. I tend to focus more on 0-40mph which would be around 4 seconds
The fact that a usable frunk is a £500 option was enough for me to reject on principle. Once specified appropriately it's nowhere near its competitors value-wise. Also a very disconnected driving experience, floaty ride and vague steering. Interior materials don't reflect the price per all modern Audis
Nicki is definitely the queen of practical driving reviews - but the Chinese and Koreans are going to wipe out these legacy European manufacturers, far too expensive and lacking innovation

I was wanting to see this, but I am certainly not disappointed I got the 2024 Q4.
Same here. I find the Q4 to be a slightly better value proposition.
Could it have been a Jaguar? it had micro prisms over a complex digital screen.
@@jobicek Suggest Googling "Jaguar Dual View Display"
I’d decided the vw group electric range was a waste of money after the poor early models. But it seems their second attempts are really strong! ❤

Ive had a q8 Etron for 4 years. It's great, but it's old tech. Go for the Q6. Mine's on order.

Better than a Tesla Model X I suppose, nobody wants to buy that outdated crap anymore and it initially cost way more than an Audi Q6
@@hagestad I think you are very confused. Not a single Tesla car is under $30k. In fact, at least here in the US, they all start over $40k.
Who are these people with £60k to spend on a car?
Not people who get free flights accomodation and meals on the press jolly eh lol. No wonder these presenters are so positive about it . Wait till it gets to the UK and they realise it doesnt come anywhere near the range and charging speeds .
No-one buys cars anymore do they? They’re all on lease and pcp deals…
Nobody buys cars anymore 💀
HUD? Panoramic sunroof? with blind? Etc.

Bits of it look nice, just the whole side profile isn’t quite there
Looking good for the A6 advant etron, just wish they’d let the thing loose
Two weeks time they unveil it apparently...
Should be quite a bit more slippery with greater range as well.. I hope.
Thank you for the video! Great to see the progress made by electric cars. I hope Audi can put this to work in a less chunky, less expensive package. I own a 2018 A4 avant (basic petrol model) and would love to find something similar.
ha ha ...your car...12k....this car 85k!!
@@rjmacf0015 Maybe now, but not when I bought it.
The chunkyness is because the battery is placed under the floor. That’s why so many EVs are SUV-like vehicles.
Not sure about the front. I feel Audi should have designed the front more eye catching
I find it insane that in my country the difference between the Macan 4s and the sq6 is 1k. They have basically same power and range. Why would I buy an Audi over a Porsche…
When I checked the stock equipment on macan 4s it seems poor value. Over 10k more than macan 4 and it basically only has some more power.
@@Rumblingbelly maybe it’s different countries but in Switzerland the Audi ends up costing 130k while the Porsche 120k (with options)
No mention of V2L, V2H or V2G .. that seems a huge omission to me for an SUV.
What is not a proper wagon , just A6 wagon but electric ⚡⚡❤❤ that would be awesome.
But still looks good and another great video keep it up 😊❤

Rear seat space looks terrible for this class of car - many better alternatives
The elephant in the room; How does it compare to the Tesla Model Y dual motor long range?
She conveniently forgot about that
I would take this over the Macan just based on looks.
None of that interior is available in the UK. We get black, black, grey or black.
Why aren’t they releasing the Avant wagon using that platform? I’m a 2024 Q8 e tron owner and the Q6 isn’t what we want.
Dealer told me a few days ago that the A6 and A6 Avant Etron were built on exactly the same platform.
The piano black plastic centre console is about 10 years out of date
It’s ridiculous for an EV in 2024
@@alanc6416£20,000 for a bit more powerful motor and some uprated cables does seem a heck of a lot.
The split headlights and the lack of physical buttons in the interior is a deal breaker for me.
Um... the funk appears to be an optional extra... Audi... really?!
An actual and lighter and ashtray!? Innovative. Coming to the outside lane, flashing it's lights at you soon....
@@Antiguan_Dart Thanks for that explanation. Clearly there is a use case. I just don't ever see myself needing it.
Car prices generally are out of hand, with electric at the top of the "taking the piss" tree.
