Civ 6 | Getting Cheeky With Tokugawa Was Never This EASY!!! - (#3 Deity Japan Civilization VI)

- In this game of Civ 6, we’ll be playing as Tokugawa’s Japan, and we’ve finally arrived at that wonderful time - it’s the 40k sub special!!!
ALL 50 civilizations on one massive true start location earth. We’re playing Tokugawa, and we’ll be abiding to a strict home island policy - we’re staying put and not letting anyone in!
I mean, that doesn’t mean we need to behave ourselves though… We’re playing also with the CYP wide and tall mod to boost the yields of struggling ai, and we’ll also be playing with Fuzzle’s brigand court secret society to allow us to do some entertaining pillaging across the world! This game will be amazing!
Thank you all so much for all your support getting to 40k subscribers. It’s truly a weirdly wonderful moment for both me and Sleepy. Thank you so much!

Shout out to that poor Vietnam galley that's been locked in your borders unable to move for well over a millennia...
was thinking the same when Ursa finally bought that tile freeing the poor galley
At least they were paid
Take a kupe city... Chop all the resources... Then return it
One city challenge, domination, but you puppet everyone.
So a Venice Civ 5 playthrough then?
I saw you hover on the Upgrade Warrior button for Samurai when you had too much era score, then move off. I thought for sure you'd go back to it when the next age hit just for the easy score, but nope. My habit of upgrading to get era score, and your habit of leaving old units alone to save gold conflict yet again, and I'm left twitching on the floor. lmao.
Loving the series so far! The 120 science jump when the tall extension came online and you slotted policies was super satisfying.
Hahaha, I love to traumatise my viewers = )
I didn’t realize that speeding up spy operations limited the amount of gold you could siphon.
Yes there’s lots of issues with Spy Operations. LOL
Its not really that it limits it, it's just that you get fewer turns at the rate it steals it. You get the same per turn, but you can get a promotion and start a new one quicker ( or a different job ).
In an update to my own private drama...the Vietnamese galley finally made it out of Japan's bay...somewhere around turn 140. Phew.
Huzzah! Freedom!
£509 - If Ursa could build the University of Sankore, he could've had an additional 15 Science, 7 Faith and 2 Great Scientist Points per turn in this episode.
Bruh that AI had that emergency already planned and made you keep the city. Idk if that was coincidence but it's the first time you've ever had to pay to get rid of a city
Happened a few times recently, it's odd!
Ursa Ryan: "I'm gonna play Isolationist Japan!" Also Ursa Ryan: "Sell AKA TRADE, everything! Everything must go! GOLD!", while keepings Trade Routes domestic... LOL , I guess only 1 kind of trading is isolationist and the other doesn't count lol.
Still got to get those Portuguese muskets! And Dutch cheese
Yes, thoroughly enjoying this. Thank you!
ursa should steal the settler, settle a city and sell it to the AI for extra gold (on antarctica would be funny)
you can always abandon the city if no AI wanted it
Then you could have pressed the forbidden button! :D
My favourite case of an AI's war declaration backfiring terribly for them was when I was playing Australia and my northern neighbour Norway randomly declared a late game surprise war on me as I started to build the space projects. With the +100% production from being Australia now accelerating said projects, and the absolute destruction of their entire military force followed by pillaging their entire emipre for loads of science (they had a lot of campuses and industrial zones) to boost me through the late game techs, I genuinely wondered if I should be thanking them.
Since you would still had 6 cities even with Seoul I wouldn't had transformed it into a puppet (plus Japan invading Korea is a classic, a true Japan moment)
The bonuses from the mod are better the fewer cities you have, with five cities being the sweet spot. He showed this in the first episode of the series.
This is where fisheries help a lot. Grow your cities nice and plump
Fisheries contradicts with Auckland as tile is counted as improved.
I love your vids keep up the good work
Cheers = )
27:40 Yes I am enjoying this series so far! And also, this is the first time that I see a Tall Extension Building... two in fact: A University's Tall Extension, and an Archeological Museum Tall Extension!!!!
Worth playing the mod, it's a lot of fun!
True oda play is playing one city until medieval age, conquer the island, then build a navy in the modern age.
5:38 that really is too bad because the Phantom Flagship can be made into a fleet or armada using great people
Yeah I was gutted to miss that
Not going to lie, in my Tokugawa game I got a diplomatic victory thr same turn as i was supposed to win science victory.
Standard small continents map, i was allied with everyone in the world at various points or friends the whole game. Open borders, embassies, all welcome in my Tokugawa game lol.
Actually had my best ever Amundsen Scott City (God of the sea and Auckland with like 7 fish and crabs, insane shipyard, numerous snow hills for mines). Hard built it in like 8 turns. A super city in the snow.
Ursa has lost it indeed. Take a break sir. A vacation might be the solution.
Never!
this tall mod sounds like it would be fun with yongle, maybe a one city challenge on deity ++?
i played a yongle game, got over 40 pop in one of my cities, built every district and tall extention. around 6000 science and culture by turn 260
@@lema0925 oh wow that is absolutely insane
@@jessedijkstra1220 ik, the ai wasn't doing so well tho, it definitely wasn't the fact that i had nukes by the time Russia figured out how coal works...
Do you remember the Republic of Pirates mod, which has the ship unit wonder, the Flying Dutchman? I've made an armada from it with that great person. It ripped, and it ripped hard. What did it rip, you asking? The answer is: YES
SUCH a good mod that one!
Lol my laptop struggles to play a game past the modern era with 5 other civs haha. If I was playing this game the turns would take 20 mins per turn to load but luckily my laptop would blow up after 2 turns so I wouldnt have to waste too much time.
I love nan madol so much!!! Kumasi is amazing, but something makes nan click for me
Both are just wonderful!
GAH you had 2000 faith and you forgot to pay attention to Santa Cruz
Was too much even with that faith alas
Nice video. If you can capture a bit of siberia, Manchuria, southeast Asia and the Pacific, you'll be able to replicate the japanese empire in ww2
So if you turn a conquered city into a puppet, do you retain a trade route from that city- and if so, do you retain the yields from any trade routes from the puppet to the capital? And if not it should- that could be a solution to the problem of late game civ
damn. Japan really is a powerhouse.
i'm really curious to know what Europe looks like cuz Real World History makes it look lile a Battle royal mixed with WWE Rumble all in one.
lol this game is getting ridiculous and i am here for it
Huzzah!
I bet Ursa is an expensive date. You have to give him diplo favor
I'll have you know I'll also sell you my excess luxuries
Huzzaaa!!
Huzzah!
I think with that science card, you lowered your original science output by taking the double campus card out so the 20% was less than originally stated.

Almost a bit disappointed by how easy this game is. Maybe the ai needs some mod juice in these mega games to be more stimulating.
Yes I also wondered if the AI actually knows how to deal with all these new features. Because if they don't, well, that's just a free boost...
Does the AI actually strategize, like Hmm let's not settle more cities seeing how tall builds are boosted 🤔
@@cthzierp5830The AI has some tweaks for tall play but they are so subtle that they never become obvious. This is intentional because messing with the AI ist very confusing and very often incompatible with other mods. However, we are working on some sophisticated AI support that really allows tall empires for AI for the next version!
@@CypRyan-cyp That is awesome! Great stuff!
when I played along my civ had some issue displaying all civ colors and round flag icons or whatever they are called. So it was brutal to keep everthing apart betwenn friend and foe as half of all civs were tranclucent. Also I wasn'T able to meet every civ. 4 were missing from the game but were never removed from the overview.
Yep, you need to get the mod to generate more Jersey colours to fix that.
@@PiotrDzialak understood, was wondering why the mod wasnt in the mod list
It is! It's called prismatic
Testing the cooling capability of the PC now....
More that half of Japan's culture is coming from Tokyo.
Stopping Korea invading using a small number of heavily armoured boats. My how the turn tables.
Haha
🎉
🖖
Idea for a challenge: 4 city tall challenge, but you have to spin a wheel every so many turns and intentionally revolt a random city and then recapture it. Would be some chaos going on with trade routes and things just getting reset and borked up.
You need a faster PC man, I did this stuff on my latest gen i5 and RTX 4090, and it's just a few seconds per turn on that map with a ton of mods :) You might need an i7 or i9 for all your streaming software and such, but for me an i5 was more than enough.
My pc is pretty fast!! I promsie that's not the issue = )

i thought you said you were strictly going to play isolationist with no wars...
He didn't.
"It's tempting to accept to make peace with India, but staying at war and pillaging them is just too profitable."
I'm not sure if he's actually gone egomaniacal or if there's some thinly-veiled political commentary in there somewhere. 😂
He did say he'd minimize war for as long as possible, but he kinda needed to attack Korea early to avoid being surrounded and starved out later on. The rest the AI brought it on themselves really. He is still playing on Deity after all. Playing full-on peace would likely lead to his loss. And as he's reaching the Industrial era, now's arguably the right "historical timing" to look to actually go on the offensive.
