Hi folks! This time you will see me restoring an very old personal weighing scale. I had a lot of good time restoring this beauty and I hope you will enjoy the video. The process took me almost 12 days. Thank you all for your support and enjoy watching! PS: More details about this bathroom scale in the description. Cheers!
This scale greatly deserved to be patiently restored: it was designed to survive several wars! It has just regained a new life expectancy of at least another century, bravo! The use of the mirror is something I've never seen before...
Im sure not much from this day and time eill last that long for future generations to clean up, repair, and reuse. Everything is do cheaply made now that almost everything we own is disposable. Things usef to be made to last. Glad there are people like you who will and enjoy refurbishing those old pieces. Thanks for sharing. You truly are devoted.
Almost 12 days! Wow! I can tell by the time spent that you really did love working on it. You could see day by day, the beauty emerge. Imagine something lasting 100 years! I suppose it resisted the elements and time because of the metal it was made of. It really did turn out beautiful and I was almost in a trance watching you do it! Thank you so much for doing this one and giving us a lovely, yet brief glimpse into the long ago past. You enjoy your Autumn coming on as well. ❤
I love watching your projects. I do have a comment on this one you had gold and silver colored screws. It may have looked better with just one color. Thank you again for your work.
Magnificent craftsmanship bringing that one back from scrap. I’m surprised it only took you 12 days. It appears double the amount of work went into that. Thanks for sharing this and your skills with us.
Thank you so much! You have right to be surprised. In those 12 days I was in the workshop sometimes even 10-12h. If I will not do overtime for sure will take longer.
That's true, but I'm trying my best to keep the original color even if sometimes I have to break this rule. It depends a lot if the item is mine or it is from a client. Thank you! 🙂
Nice restoration. I believe your support rack directly under the screen floor in your blast cabinet is installed upside down, which is why your blast media collects on the braces like it does.
Thank you. Initially, I tried to put it as you said, but there is a problem with the screw holes. They don't fit anymore. I guess that is a production issue.
Thank you so much. Yes, the hardest is the newest project. I'm always jumping and choosing challenging things that I never did before, even though this makes me vulnerable a bit, and maybe sometimes things don't go as planned, but I know this is the single way of getting better at what I do. 🙂
Saw another video of the same type of scale. The other video was better than this one. But STILL! This was also a good restoration and operational scale
Great restoration man! Not going to lie, I was disappointed that you didn't stick with that green. But seeing the white and brass, it definitely looks slick. Awesome job!
I wonder why the boarder around the weight sign and under the step plate wasn't painted in black? To reduce the bright morning sun while the scale is being used in the bathroom?
Please don't be rude and read more about it. Did you observe that an 80+ kg guy stepped on it? Do you know what that means? A successful weld buddy. Lads around here on UA-cam are happy to keep 40-45 kg on a cast iron weld. Preheating to 300 degrees C and a NiFe-Cl rod is more than enough.

Nice work in restoring that old, old scale!! THANK YOU!!
Thank you for watching! 🙂

A pleasure to observe your skill - without all the bull that a lot of these programs insist on using, your talent/gift shone through. Many thanks.
Thank you for watching my videos! 🙂
I like that screwdriver with the extra handle. That screw is coming out, come hell or high water.
That was a all white restoration. Great job.
Thank you Anthony 🙂

This is your best one yet. That’s an amazing piece of history, once again restored for future generations to appreciate. Thank you for sharing x
Thank you Lyndsey! I'm glad you enjoyed the video and the outcome 😀
Please wipe your brown nose 🤣

Nice work, brass screws are a nice highlight against the whit👍🏼
Thank you 🙌
Preliminaryly liked you because you didn't afraid of repairing such a complex movement. I've subscribed.
Thank you! 🙂
I love the sound effects! Makes the video so much more fun!
Thank you for letting me know 🙂

Thank you so much for watching my videos and for your nice words! 💕
I absolutely love watching you restore life to these cool old projects! It was nice seeing glimpses of YOU as well! Bravo! 💪🏼
Thank you Jessica! I'm happy to know that you enjoyed the video! 🙂
Love the pacing. Nice.
Thank you 🙌
I think the imperfections are the real deal and original. Please don’t remove them. Keep it as originals as is was. Great work🧸
Amazing job you did restoring the scale to working order. It looks much better, too. Great work making new bolts as well. Well done.
Thank you George! I'm glad you enjoyed.

Потрясающе! Раньше делали настоящие вещи. Все можно разобрать и восстановить. А сейчас все на выброс.
I admire you using the original white. It must have been very tempting to use any better color. Nice work with the weld.
That's true, but I'm trying my best to keep the original color even if sometimes I have to break this rule. It depends a lot if the item is mine or it is from a client. Thank you! 🙂
Remarkable job, and very entertaining. Usually spring scales had a compensating mechanism for the change in spring tension.
Thank you 🙂
The mirror is ingenious!💡👍😺
Must be one of the most delightful pieces I have watched you transform...so very intricate...also so satisfying...dgp/uk
I like your longer videos.
Intricate and detailed, plus more shots of sandblasting!👍😺
Noted!

Thank you for sharing your knowledge of metals so that viewers learn. Terrific restoration!
Thank you. I'm glad you find it useful. Cheers.
I've never seen so many drilled out screws in one job! 🔩🪛‼️😺
Beautiful job! The paper thing behind the mirror would just have been folded up paper to act as a cushion for the mirror so it didn't rattle
Thank you! I guess so, but at that moment I was excited that I will find some kind of certificate 😅
You will never stop to amaze me!
Nice to hear that! Cheers bro! 🙂
absolutely fantastic, it really is a beautiful item, you out did yourself.
Thank you Cecil. 🙂
... SIMPLY AMAZING!!!
I'm glad you enjoyed the video! 🙂
Nicely refurbished. I can only imagine the number of people that have fallen off such a scale though... Thumbs Up!
Thank you 😅
We need a long slow powder coat baking segment with that 70's nudey movie music overlayed. "Oooooooooo Yeahhhhhh"
🤣🤣🤣
Отличная работа. Здорово получилось красиво. Ваша работа мне понравилась. Можно сказать из такого хлама так всё исправить. Что выглядит как новый. Вы молодец. 👍👍👍👍👍.
Thank you! 🙂
Great work! I didn't know your channel, I subscribed immediately.
Thank you Thomas. I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
Another very good job! A pleasure to see this restoration! It also looks like you have a nice workshop. Thanks for this video.👏👏
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Cheers!
Ficou maravilhosa, um trabalho excelente parabéns

Thank you! 🙂
A lovely restoration of the scale ⚖️⚖️
Thank you Tom! 🙌
Amazing job. Well done. I loved it.
I'm so glad to know that you enjoyed the video! Thank you!
Great work!
Thank you. The dial is backwards, that's why has a mirror, to read when you are on the scale.
@@rustyshadesrestoration Yes, I noticed that at the end. This is why I edited my comment. Thank you for a great video!
No problem! Thank you for watching! Cheers 🙂
Very nice work, joy to watch
Thank you, Paul! 🙂

Gracias!!!
Wow that was a huge project 👍 turned out great. Love your colour choice. I bet you spent a lot of time on that one. Well done
Thanks buddy! Yeah this project was quite time consuming, but the scale deserved a second chance 🙂
Great job. I would have like also white screws in the Top. But I understand the struggle here.
Muy bien la restauración de la vieja balanza.
Gracias!
A nice object and worth to restore. My neighbour is a new fan of your Videos, since i told him about.
Oh thank you! I'm happy to hear that! Greetings to both of you!
You always do such beautiful restorations. Has there ever been any you couldn’t. What was your hardest restoration?
Love to watch your making magic.🇺🇸
Thank you so much. Yes, the hardest is the newest project. I'm always jumping and choosing challenging things that I never did before, even though this makes me vulnerable a bit, and maybe sometimes things don't go as planned, but I know this is the single way of getting better at what I do. 🙂
You are just amazing and beautiful in everything you restored talented man! ❤️
Thank you so much for your beautiful words.
Excellent!
Thank you James! 🙌
Saludó desde la República Dominicana excelente vídeo
Thank you. Now I bought wine from Dominican Republic. I'm in Masca, Tenerife! Cheers
Saw another video of the same type of scale.
The other video was better than this one.
But STILL!
This was also a good restoration and operational scale
Thank you. Yes, I need to improve the filming and editing. I am working on it!
Well done!
Thank you Otto! 🙌
Very nice. A little Grease and oil would be nice in the final assembly. Keep up the good work.
عمل غاية في الروعة انت موهوب وفنان بكل قوة
Great restoration man! Not going to lie, I was disappointed that you didn't stick with that green. But seeing the white and brass, it definitely looks slick. Awesome job!
Thank you. I couldn't stick with the green. White was the original colour, so I had to bring it back 🙂
Cool restoration..I like the outcome.
Thank you 🙂
2:54 такие винты лучше откручивать ударной отвёрткой, бита в этом случае поворачивается с усилием, при ударе по отвёртке молотком.
Excellent job! It is beautiful!
Thank you Cheryl! 🙌 Glad you like it!
Amazing work, I love the details in the video shooting 😊
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video! 🙂
Nice work!! I have the same exact scale at home.
Thank you 🙂
Amazing restoration. Thanks 🇧🇷

Oh! The little indents were square!⬛️😺
Nice restoration 👍👍👍
Thank you 🙌
24:58 best jump scare moment while enjoying my high. Thanks man for oh shit! and giggle after the BOO from the new mirror

Wonderful job there. 👌👌👌
Could you please do a bit of sand blasting & electrolysis together in your upcoming projects? 😍
Thank you! If I have a chance I'll do it.
Great job

A very enjoyable video, and relaxi g to watch as well.
Thank you! I'm glad you that enjoyed it! Cheers 🙂
u should add gold leaf accents to all the leafy edges, maybe a few gold pinstripes
Could be done that way as well, but I choosed to keep it simple this time. Thank you for watching and for advice!
great video
Thank you!
It's like opening a box of chocolates 🍫 😋
Nice job 👍🏻
Thank you 🙌
Good job nice super like brother
Thank you!
Nice work
Thank you 🙂
1. Cast iron parts must be preheated in a furnace!
2. TIG welding should be used on cast iron, not electrode welding!

You can braze cast iron
Someone painted it green? How long ago?🤔I wonder was the white paint underneath leaded?
