I like the episodes where Gene varies his entrance, though nothing tops the one where he smashed through the doors. ^_^ Also, nobody thought of The Last Rites?
Actually, he was a pretty average player to begin with and with time and being part of all of the cMG games until now, made him a better player. What really made him a cut above the rest was his quick wittednesss and keen sense of humor.
Richard scored his 17th head-to-head match today, and with Bert's missed chance last time, Richard now moves up a spot on the accuracy leader board. Here's the updated stats on the 7 celebs to have scored 3 or more matches so far: Orson - 100% (3 wins in 3 attempts). Betty - 46.7% (7 wins in 15 attempts). Charles - 42.9% (6 wins in 14 attempts). Jo Ann - 36.4% (4 out of 11 attempts). Richard - 29.3% (17 wins in 58 attempts). *TIE Bert - 28.6% (4 wins in 14 attempts). *TIE Brett - 28.6% (4 wins in 14 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 168, excluding the lost/missing episodes 31, 32, 33.
Well, first off, I am German. Second of all, people don't ever sing it correctly, so it's hard to know what the words are. Third, I seriously doubt there are people in Africa who sing Auld Lang Syne. Fourth, it's Scottish, not German, so joke's on you, dimwit.
That panel with all the numbers pointing out the details at the start. I never had to air a Match Game show when I worked in TV but the slates for The Newlywed Game were on the reels we aired in syndication in the 80s (and they often include some kidding around like Johnny's *hic*). And no they aren't supposed to be aired-- but sometimes they did. 🙂
I think this was the worst head-to-head match in history! The contestant says “Old….man and the shoe” which Gene mocks “it was the old LADY in the shoe!” but somehow, against all odds, Richard’s answer is even worse…..”Old Lang Syne”!
BRETT always tries her hardest NOT TO MATCH THE CONTENTS! She Always gives the wrong answer on purpose, thinking she’s being funny or cute I know she’s doing is showing how drunk she is. She does this every time. And as we go deeper and deeper into all the match games, you will see where she will have to read the question every single time just for attention. Trying to upstage everyone.
These guys had lots of fun...and it wasn't staged. Celebrities today seem so phony and uptight. I assume it's due to all the political correctness they must abide by.
I love M.G. from the 70s... I was born in 63 and I remember watching these at 4 o'clock after school in Columbus Ohio
I was near Columbus then, and no doubt we watched on the same station.
I remember this show on my birthday in 1974. Ron from Melbourne FL.
I use to live there. I'm still in Brevard County tho
I wonder if anyone ever kept their card all this time..?
I like how Richard shouts "GUARD!!!"
On this date in 1960, The Steve Allen Plymouth Show with Gene Rayburn aired it's final episode.
Love Richard putting his hand over his face while was cracking up about her answer.. ;0)
He does that whenever he is embarrassed -- I think it's really charming.
I like the episodes where Gene varies his entrance, though nothing tops the one where he smashed through the doors. ^_^ Also, nobody thought of The Last Rites?
If I had been Gene I would have come in to the right of the panelists, try to catch them looking for me. "What are you all looking at?"
Woop, did I hear a little hiccup from Mr. Olsen in the beginning there?
He's done that at least once a week during the slate.
Sounds like Jonnie Olson had a 3 martini 🍸 lunch 😛
11:18 “anyone we know?” 😂😂
Digging Kathleen’s toreador outfit
Jeez, Richard was insanely good at this game.
"Hollywood High"? ;-)
Actually, he was a pretty average player to begin with and with time and being part of all of the cMG games until now, made him a better player. What really made him a cut above the rest was his quick wittednesss and keen sense of humor.
Elaine is so hot
The guy who lost looked like a young Daniel Bryan legendary pro wrestler
It's Auld, not Old for the last answer.
I remember skipping school and watching this with my mother
I think they let the audience get away with yelling out answers because everyone blanked out on “____ high.”
Amazing show lots of fun 🤩
Hey! Who were those guys ducking into the back at 22:13?
Maybe Roger running to TPIR
AULD not old.
Richard was spooking good! I thought he would have said 'Main Event' or 'Main Course'.
Main street was the first thing I thought of, as should have anyone else. It's the "main" answer, 😄
If he was spooking good, he would have said Old man in the shoe. So not spooking good, just good. 😋

One of us commentators, had said that Captain Hook lost his lunch on the poop deck! I thought that was really good! But nobody said it
The contestant looks identical to the "Hollywood Madam" Heidi Fliesse
The one with the beard?
So who is that we see at 22:14 on the right of the screen? He seems to have a piece of paper in hand.
Richard’s was bad too. It’s spelled AUlD not old.

The first word of the phrase old____ that Richard gave as old Lang syne is not actually the word old, it's auld! Auld lane syne!
Bobby Van of Van's refrigeration
I thought of Old Faithful.
" Old Spice " came to me. Which seemed like the cologne of the 60s
captain Hook lost his lunch on the 'poop" deck.
I said he lost his shorts. Get it? lol
That was mine too lol
Richard was a little off on this episode. The song is, Auld Lang Syne, not "old"..
Can you blame him? The words are very confusing.
@@beatlequeen06 Really, what is so confusing? You don'y have to be German to know it. It's only the second most popular song in world history.
Well, first off, I am German. Second of all, people don't ever sing it correctly, so it's hard to know what the words are. Third, I seriously doubt there are people in Africa who sing Auld Lang Syne. Fourth, it's Scottish, not German, so joke's on you, dimwit.
Hey awesome Thanks!!!

Wait... MONSANTO???
The mats were Astroturf, which Monsanto chemists developed...
Were they as ruthlessly greedy with their legal tactics back then as they are now?
It's not "Old Lang Syne"....it's "Auld Lang Syne"
Neither Richard or the contestant thought of Old Spice?
Sad thing is that Brett doesn't even try to match
I’m still trying to figure out what Slate means??
The slate is what is seen at 0:02. The very beginning.

Why is Ann's face green?

Why such hype about "frog"? Cinderella and frog are not in the same story. I'd have said pumpkin.
I thought of pumpkin immediately. I was a little surprised not to see it there, but princes turning into frogs is a common trope.
"Old Man and the Shoe"? Really? I was thinking "Old Yeller" (wouldn't have matched, but a better answer)
Old Man and the Sea?
Call me crazy, but isn't it the old woman who lived in the shoe?
It is....Gene was the one who remembered it...
But the contestant was likely thinking "The Old Man and the Sea" by Hemingway.
I thought I of old reliable
why the hell would you cook them , except to eat them - guy got robbed
To feed to someone else.
They never match cook with eat.. You don't necessarily eat what you cook.
What happened to? GET HIGH? It was the 70s you know
Kaye Stevens left the show because gene Rayburn told her to hush and the producers too
18:10 Worst (or best) case of the studio audience shouting out an answer?
Considering how bad the celebrity answers were....
Pot high!?

yeah, there was no separate bloopers section for MG
Too early for Rocky Mountain High???????? ;0)
Not really. That song was released in 1972.
I knew it couldn't have been Ryan seacrest!! That was the year he was born lol
Wonder why JP Morgan was never on ?
She was on the first year.
@@kathycobb4451 I know. I had brainlock, meant to say Karen Valentine
I didn't like her after seeing her on "The Gong Show".
19:14 -- Thanks for nothing, panel.
I wonder if Elaine Joyce had head lice the way she kept scratching her head.
I think she was confused by the questions.
Bryan activating her brain--Elaine!
Well, I noticed that JoAnn Pflug kept doing it. I think it must be the hair products or something.
#bryanchaseq1127-hair bleach can cause itching scalp.😅😅
