  • The term "high-end Soviet shotguns" isn't one commonly encountered here in the United States. While many modern shotguns from Russia may be found at entry-level prices, these 1960s-era Soviet shotguns are absolutely on par with fine competition and best quality guns. There's a reason the Soviet Union won the first Gold Medal for Skeet in 1968.
The feature extremely tight fitting parts, highly embellished, unique designs, a scarcity that collectors love, and a LOT of gun at a price much more attractive than its English counterparts.

The competition gun he is showing is an MU 6. I owned one. Petrov used an MU 8. How do I know ?. I competed in world, and olympics and europeean contests through the seventies, and had some battles with him (he won most of them) in Phoenix AZ in 1970 he won the World Championship skeet with 200/200.

I did not know Soviet citizens could own shot guns

not just only they could own, there where almost no paperwork needed to buy one up to late 70`s. The other story was rifles - these where almost impossible to get to a normal citizen, you can get one only you have some professional need - a professional hunter or a geologist in a remote Siberia region, or native Siberian nation
