If you're just standing around waiting for something, be blocking. Block when you're riding elevators, block when your back's to a wall, just block. Never trust the engine not to let a skavenslave silently sneak through a hole in spacetime to get a jab in on you.
If you're quick enough, you can always dodge those. There's always a music sting that builds the moment they wind up their weapon to attack, so unless you're wading into melee and can't hear it, you can always tell when they're trying to stab you in the back. The key, at that point, is good reflexes
Just pointing out, if you come across a healing/resupply spot and there is going to be extra health left over and no way to get back. The people with the least amount of health should heal, even if everyone is already healthy. Also, if you have white health, healing with a medkit turns that into green health along with the amount it always heals. So using a medkit right after going down is sometimes smarter then waiting for finding more health before healing. And a healing draught always heals the same amounts of health, regardless of your white health and resets your white health.
@@stratomiesniinsaatanasti5250 what do you mean the game is so much better optimized graphics gameplay and fluidity aswell aswell as the fact that the devs haven't left the game just making too much cosmetic dlc stuff
Regarding point 4: You are a foot knight with 150 base health and possibly more between items and build, and a medical kit would restore 80% of your health, thus giving you back 120 health minimum compared to 75 health with the potion. Thus, the elf's decision to use a medical kit on you was more efficient than letting you use a potion when it would restore less health, especially if the elf was planning to grab the tome a short distance ahead. (Tomes occupy the healing item slot).
Its always annoying when your constantly watching some dudes back then a horde comes and he abandons you to get surrounded and bummed by chaos warriors.
Wait... Hammers are BAD against Armor in this game?! But... Hammers were specifically used to deal with Armor in Warfare! Blades can't just cut through armor but Mallets and similar can dent them and kill the enemy easily with a blow into the helmet or the ribcage.
I always find comments like this really funny, because this game is full of giant rat people and shit, but like the hammer damage not being realistic is a problem lol
@@HELLICRINATIOn Because settings and background lore of a game does not equate to immersion. A lot of people tend to misunderstand comments of these. These are not a huge problem but details that could have made the game more immersive. I don't think anyone would laugh at someone who would appreciate the realistic details of Red dead or GTA because that's how it is but when someone criticize for the opposite, it becomes funny? Realism comes from anywhere. When a story is set on a world with unrealistic aspects, there are rules and realisms set around that lore to be followed. There are reasons why people dislike their characters winning against a strong character and after that suddenly losing against someone who looks much weaker without proper reasonings other then "oh you expect him to not lose? The story has dragons and magics, nothing is realistic".
Nice Beginners guide, but I have to disagree with sparing health until you get downed. On Champion or Legend you can die quite quick once on the ground. More important even: Your teammates have to rush to your saving and interrupt what they are doing. A lot of times a downed player is the begin of the end because all the others rush to help and no one is controlling the horde anymore, looks out for specials etc.
Indeed. True enough. But it's really a situational judgement call I suppose. Depends how well and tight your team is playing. I think playing conservative with the healing is always wise though.
Depends on what character you are tbh. If you're playing a character that gets a lot of temp hp in a short amount of time, you really should'nt be using them. as pyromancer or ws, u get temp hp in like 0.5 secs before wave even comes close to melee. Plus if you're getting hit by anything other than bosses or specials, odds are you'll get hit again. So why waste a potion when u can waste temp hp :)
Sadar also important, never waste healing. As in, if there‘s healing use it before you leave it. Got into a lot of bad situations with idiots who left healing behind even though they were below 70% health...
Another useful thing about the explosive bomb is that it staggers monsters like the rat ogre, troll, etc. Helps when your teammate gets grabbed by a chaos spawn that's gonna eat him and regen lol
This is really important at higher difficulties. If you've got a couple bombs and a character with an ult that stuns, you can lock a monster or boss in place for quite awhile. BUT, it's also important to remember that incendiary bombs don't stagger, and even though they come with an ongoing fire effect, they don't do DOT like Sienna's weapons. Traits like Shrapnel will proc on fire bombs, but otherwise they're not worth saving for monsters/bosses.
Fire bomb does combine nicely with shrapnel though as from what I have been able to tell the flames continue the shrapnel +20% damage while the boss is in the flame, so there is that to consider
This game is far more complex than people give it credit for. Also... YOU HEAR THAT KERILLIANS? USE YOUR MELEE WEAPON. YOU DONT HAVE TO SHOOT EVERYTHING.
maybe, but with nearly infite arrows with that lvl 15 talent and either scrounger trait or the one where headshots return the arrow, its easier to take out a horde from one side before it reaches you
It's not punishing to use ammo on waystalker because it never runs out, I don't think it'll be nerfed because her whole bit is her ranged. It absolutely should be nerfed, as should infinite crit shot BH. The problem is fatshark doesn't balance correctly they NEVER have in ANY of their games. As for the OP shut your trap, if she can take out ambient enemies for me and reduce a hoards numbers massively without losing loads of ammo than hell yes. That being said I'm not ignorant to the fact that some people prioritize ranged to much because their obsessed with getting that ego boost most kills at the end. This is almost NEVER on legend quickplay tho. You shouldn't be quickplaying legend anyway. My guess is you stay on champion and veteran in which case let them have their damn fun.
Justin, sometimes people are hell of a good shot but are getting their ass kicked in melee. That is why they prefer ranged weapons. Doesn't have to do anything with ego.
Thank you Zerkovich! Just started the game, enjoying it so much, seems like I was the greedy elf fathermaker, using everything around, caring only for the kills, my first "Veteran" instance was full of pain for my teammates, with your shared knowledge you've saved mental stability of many people with me in the same party.
Gizzmose2002 there's really two primary play styles. There's the slow, rank and file WH40k guardsmen hold the line style play, the there's the kite and dodge wood elf war dancer style. They're often at odds because they excel in different environments. The problem is the elitists that insist their style is "right". You should learn both and use them when appropriate. Not be calling out spots to cower behind a shield for every single horde, and not diving into a choke point the game practically hands you.
dodge does NOT have unlimited uses... it has a dodge stamina (diffrent for class and weapon) that can run out and make your dodges pathetic sidesteps... alhtough dodge stamina replenishes fast (and instantly by jumping) also, dodging BLOCKS block-stamina recovery
Sure. But I think it's a non-issue. You're never going to think "shit I better not dodge, I just dodged twice". If it was that important there would be a dodge stamina bar.
its very useful to know whether your next dodge is going to be pathetic or not. Died a few times on legend because i thought i had my full dodge but didnt and ended up eating a chaos warrior axe to the face
exactly.... its one thing they took from the first game no actual explanation on this but just trial and error again, its unique for each class and weapon... the elf for example DOES have infinite dodges with their dual swords /dual daggers/dagger sword
When Zerk talks about not using health potions unnecessarily the opposite of that is don't be afraid of using them too. In the clip he showed at 14 mins they were about to drop off a wall with no way back to the health items so you may as well use them as they will be lost anyway once you drop off the wall. In that case using a medkit isn't wasteful even if it is for half a life bar or less. That many be the difference between going down or staying alive later.
A corollary to Rule #4. In levels, there are often 'points of no return', and often there are healing supplies before them. TOP OFF. If everyone's already holding something in their 3 slot (3 tomes and a heal kit, say) and you come across 4 heal potions, drink them before dropping, even if you've barely been injured. You're not going to be able to go back and get them later, and that little bit of health might be the difference between a team wipe and a win. A good example of this is the Rotblood camp, before you enter the arena to fight Boddvar Ribspreader. If you have full 3 slots, drink those potions and use those heal kits as needed before re-grabbing your tomes.
Question: at 14:32, was it really a bad thing that the elf healed you? Even if you're getting free health from going down and coming back up, isn't that less free health than the items you're leaving on the ground?
With 600 hours in the game and 200 in VT1, I watched this just out of curiosity to see how good a guide it could be. This is a phenomenal beginner's guide
16:07 is WRONG. incendiaries kill armored units and stormvermin amazingly well. What you gotta do is push them to stay in the area of effect. I wiped out entire patrols with a well placed incendiary + Shieldbashes.
Elf is greedy -> gets mad at elf Elf is caring, heals you when you actually need healing and everyone except you is clearly almost full health -> gets mad at elf
Would also add that as soon as possible people go and mess about with their settings if they haven't done so already, as adjusting Player Outlines to 'Always On' and not just 'On', rebinding dodge and jump so they're on different keys, adjusting Field Of View (mine's personally set to 95 atm) help make things easier. Additionally, it's an opinion of mine that being too lax with your healing draughts can also cause issue, as I've seen some games spiral downwards because one person went down and another died trying to panic revive them in some fashion. Deal with as necessary. Heal when things happen might be a good idea, when a horde hits, a boss, an ambush before or after the first wave, just in any situation that might otherwise leave you too overwhelmed to heal. Addressed in the video, but would like to emphasize. Lastly, note that skaven packmasters/hookrats can be dodged in the same way as a gutter runner, and in fact in my opinion easier to dodge, same for the Chaos Lifeleech. By a step to the side during the grab action. Further, that Ratling Gunners target one person only per volley, so if it's aiming at you, maybe try to step back and let an ally past you to shoot instead of trying to outgun the ratling.
A good note on bombs, if it hasn't been mentioned already: Bombs of all sorts stagger bosses. This can be particularly important when facing Chaos Spawn, who have a very damaging grab attack THAT ALSO HEALS THE BOSS. A well-timed bomb will interrupt this, however, so don't go all-out with your bombs at the start of an engagement with a Chaos Spawn. For bonus pro-points, if you're a class that has a special ability that can interrupt (Knight Kruber, Bounty Hunter Saltzpyre, etc), give your bombs to a player that doesn't (Handmaiden Kerillian, Unchained Sienna, etc). That way, they can free you if you get grabbed.
Just picked this game up on sale and this video was so good! Really makes it so much easier to pick up a new game when there's great content creators who've made excellent content.
I do have to point out re healing items. If you are passing an area you can't come back to and there is a healing item there (while all players are already carrying something in that slot) you may as well use it, otherwise it is going to waste. With the exception of the potion-medpack function, where in few cases you would not want to use it. Cheers
Also: with Halberd, you can always cycle between light and heavy attacks. The first two heavy attacks match the first two light attacks. When you do the first light attack and go to Heavy, it'll match that attack, then it will reset as though you had blocked, allowing you to constantly flow of light > heavy > light > heavy for crowd control, or start heavy and alternate into light for armored elites and it will do the same.
My fav variation of the story is "three of your party members think a narrow corridor is a better place to fight chaos spawn than open area twenty feet in front of them"
Mostly decent advise, but some misunderstandings along the way. In the clip where you advocate for saving your healing all your teammates were at almost max health, 2 had healing items and one had a tome. You had healing and there was additional healing on the ground next to the ammo box - you should have healed. On champ and legend you can go down once, so it useful to try and use healing AFTER your first down (better still would ofc not being downed/not taking any damage, but hit trades will happen). If you however have an incoming horde, hear 2 assassins and a pack master lurking somewhere and now there's suddenly a boss on his way as well, you best chuck that pot if you are not above 70 health. If you go down your party will have a hard time getting you up and an even harder time getting out alive themselves if they fail :)
14:12 There're 2 meds on ground, 1 on Kruber and 1 tome. There's no Spare med there. No, he shouldn't heal, if he is fine with it. He can use temporary hp and downed hp. If specials grabs him he will be insta downed, but it will save lot of hp. No reason to waste most usefull healing item (bandage) on person which holds healing brew. "On champ and legend you can go down once, so it useful to try and use healing AFTER your first down" Useful? Lol. Otherwise you're dead. Although you give a good example. He holds med and is on low hp, but IF there would be horde approaching, or boss, he would Use that med instantly Before fight, because it's safer that way. BUT if there's no horde/boss, you can hold on with using meds as there's little risk of you not being revived after you get downed.
So basically we are in agreement? Like this video I would hope no-one takes my "advise" as one-fits-all - a player best knows what they themselves are capable of doing/not doing. My whole reason for commenting in the first place was because of this. I see a lot of people either refusing to ever use their healing or chucking a pot/kit whenever they miss a sliver of health. Both are in my opinion terrible approaches to health management, you have to consider the availability of healing items, the current and future situation as well as your own estimated chance of surviving when deciding whether to heal or not. In regards to your clip I'll concede that I have maybe switched a moment or two around in my head when making the comment, because clearly you are correct and in that instant opting not to heal was in fact the only "correct" play in my mind :P
Basically we are, but he shouldn't use med as you mentioned now :P Especially in that spot. There're 2 grims ahead and possiblity of no additional healing items, until either wheat field (behind rock), tome location or guaranteed couple at entrance to windmill. There's horde and boss before next meds. Players with low hp don't need to engage in combat in frontline, they could be on special-watch-duty. Also players without grim can die and respawn. Some meds should be kept for grims carriers, even if they're so far on full hp. Of course as you said depends on conditions, horde or boss would make healing that low hp player a bigger gain. Lastly I try to open my mind for other tactics than "In my opinion..". During mission you might take some quick irrational decisions, but when aproaching healing items you should take a break and think it though.
Fair enough. Ye well we shouldn't agree on everything just for the sake of agreeing that would be boring :) I find the most useful approach to playing with people of different mindsets is to follow through in regards to what the most players are doing at any given time. Fx I had a game where some guy thought he was the boss of everyone else, yelling his mouth of at every chance at how idiotic his teammates were. Granted the host made some really wacky calls, but me and the other rando followed him because we were stronger together. The mad "boss" player went on ahead, got killed by an assassin while alone and left the game :P No matter what you perceive as being the "correct play" keep in mind that most players will need the support of their teammates, so better just follow the flow. And if you "need" to sway your fellow teammates, best not be an asshole about it, if you don't get kicked you will at least go down to the bottom of the revive-first-pile ^^
depends... you shouldn't follow group and attack what they attack. Formation should be 2-2. If 2 players are engaged in melee combat, don't run towards and start slashing (unless it's the only way from which horde incomes). Keep distance and make sure they are not getting attacked from behind. Or be on specials duty stand and look around, mark elite units so they can prepare before hand. Kicking players is always a dick move. Unless someone on purpose ruins your run, like throwing grim away or rushing solo while carrying grim, pulling enemies. As for mad boss and teamplay, there's difference in complaining about stuff and ordering how game will be played. I usually complain about throwing bombs, even more about throwing them on bosses. I mean couple bombs during one fight. Best argument ever is "I've perk to boost damag,e so shut up", epic 20% for 5s. Wasted healing items and I "order" (writing and explaining it) not to waste bandage. Of course it's almost impossible to stop someone who's using bandage, without voice chat. Shooting them once may or may not stop them. So I get into talk about usefulness of bandage and healing tome carriers.. and 3 out of 4 times I'm getting kicked. By ordering I mean using voice chat, because otherwise it's kinda hard to cooperate things.. Maybe worth mentioning, I'm usually using 2 items with additional stamina, so I can block and push more. With additional damage to enemy that attacked me.
Played Vermintide 1 years ago, just started into 2 recently. Even several years on, this guide is exactly whats needed to get the basic fundamentals of tactics, and how the game mechanics work, to give you a leg up on getting started.
1. If you see ammo stash and you have a damaging ranged weapon.. Spam Ammo while your there.. if there's a guy who's really annoying you like a black rat go ahead and shoot him in the face.. then restock your ammo.. it FREE.. and it's UNLIMITED.. as long as your within reach..
Damage avoidance: - Know your reach. Weapons have different effective ranges in melee. No need to ram your face down the throat of a ratman, when you could stand well outside his reach and hack him down. -Know when to hold, know when to fold. You can't save everyone when they get jumped or grabbed. Blindely running in and trying to get a teammate up might kill you and your two remaining mates. If it's unsure you can get to the player in need and rez them without taking significant damage - huddle up and go to the downed guy with two guys at your back. -Know your surroundings. Map awareness is more important then heropower. Not every wall is safe to hug as enemies might spawn or crawl over them and getting hit like a fastball over a ledge is never fun. Learn where bosses spawn, where to fight them safely and where you can fight hordes.
Honestly, it's more relevant with the changes. Before you could put on your solo pants and carry a team, but now I'm hearing from reddit and the official forums that the changes made it too hard to do. More weapons and classes are viable for end game.
Very nice video! The one thing I'd like to add is that Health Potions overwrite your white temporary health while medical kits adds on top of it. Had me confused at first since in the first game a health potion after being downed basically gave you full health but it's the other way around here.
When I reach a point of no return and health supplies are available, I use them. Absolutely NO reason to leave them behind. Not like you can come back for them later.
loved the burning a hole in your pocket joke. nice bit of tips. returning player from vermintide 1 but still a good bit of info. keep up the good work.
"dont waste resources." but the example location youve given that theres no going back to retrieve those health items. this game is often giving health items (recruit difficulty) when we're about to go to lower level & point of no return of a map. if u skip those u r wasting resources too
This is still the best guide to this game, and I'm still learning from it. Wish you did some more V2 content, now that all the careers have been released and so much have been updated.
Dodging does not have unlimited uses, depending on your weapon choice you may have as many as 6 dodges before they grow shorter and less useful, or as few as 1 which is the case with the largest weapons in the game such as the two handed hammers. Of course with a refresh of about a second you probably won't notice this on anything but the largest weapons, which also tend to have the shortest dodge distance as well. Damage vs Infantry and Skaven is practically worthless given that the toughest Infantry on Legend is the Chaos Raider/Bulwark with 39 HP, no Armor, and possibly Breakable Shield. While the toughest non-boss Skaven is a toss up between the Stormvermin with 39 HP, Armor, and possible Unbreakable Shield, or the Packmaster with 75 HP and Resistance to Stagger. Compared to the Chaos Warrior with 120 HP and Full Armor. You can also shove or stagger the Runner if you time it right. You do not have a greater chance for Crits with Headshots, Headshot damage increase is separate but stackable with Crits for even greater damage.
I know a lot of this is common sense for some, but I found this video extremely useful. Thank you for taking the time in going over those scenarios and best practices.
This was really helpful! I was trying to find videos on multiplayer etiquette because I've never played one before but they are weirdly hard to find and I don't want to be an accidental asshole. This helped me get in that team player mindset and was very thorough!
Even now, after the auto-block while reviving has been patched into the game, I will still recommend holding down the block key while reviving. Auto-blocking stops the moment the revive process ends, meaning your character goes back to neutral state. Even if you press the block button right after, the delay between neutral to blocking may allow attacks to slip through. Especially if you are surrounded by enemies and some may already have entered into their attack animations.
Pretty good guide, completely agree with the general points. I might add that firebomb can be useful against bosses and patrols when the bomb trait called shrapnel is equipped, which causes every enemy hit by the firebomb to take 25% more damage.
mhm, that's a LOT of damage boost. Then later on party doesn't have bombs in critical situation, because "Hey I have trinket that allows me to waste bombs on demand. Don't complain that I didn't had bomb to throw on enemies that were attacking you, when you're downed. Anyway you suck, because you get downed. Lol. You slow ass."
LazyGibbon this is a little late, but.. Reason most people dislike the elf is because the players using her are planks of wood when it comes to team work. Team mate running ahead of the rest of the group? It’s the elf. Player shooting into the team to get that one special kill? It’s the elf. Player lone wolfing the entire level and getting picked off by a strangler, leech or assassin, and also leaving the team down a member at all times? Yup..usually the elf. Don’t be that kind of elf.
Good guide! Thanks for your efforts, Zerkovich. I'll also add a pointer for new players. Communicate! If you need help, speak up. If there's a resource that someone else needs point it out. If a team mate is falling behind or goes down tell the team so they'll know to stop moving forward and allow recovery of the ailing team mate. Communication makes all the difference between a fun successful run or a frustrating total team kill.
-do not waste heal -do not Troll with friendly fire -do not leave the game as the host no matter how bad ur doing -respect the potion and grim prioarty of certian characters -block while resing There you go 5 rules for vermintide2 that you need to know and follow.
Realy nice explanation! Just want to add this. To reduce the effect of the Grimoirs, you can equip items with "curse resistance" to lower the healtcost. Keep up the good work!
You can certainly get a hit in when the boss is focusing you, at least the less aggressive ones like the Rat Ogre or Stormfiend. It's all a matter of practice and learning their attack patterns. Don't forget some of their attacks are unblockable too so you should try to dodge every boss attack while you block.
I wish more people would watch this, I like to play the dwarf ranger with a 2 handed axe and a shotgun, I do pretty good at avoiding damage and dealing it out but often my team mates will grab all the dropped ammo every if they only shot once or twice witch at one point leaves me without my "fuck you I win" gun and forced to use my two handed axe, witch does deal tons of damage and goes though armor like butter (and if I smoke bomb I turn into a ninja with a axe) but it puts me in alot more harms way that I want to be!
You did a great job. Love the format. Love the detail. Love the message. You’ve got a great voice for this too. I haven’t even played the game yet, but this amplified my desire to play significantly.
Grimmir Brink had some really long tutorial videos like this. Watching them was the only way to unlock some gear, and rewarded the player with a lump of experience. I’ve always wondered why all games don’t do the same.
Finally broke down and bought Vermintide II the other day, and I have been LOVING it. It's hard, requires awareness, and forces people to work together in order to complete a mission. When you have a good team that communicates and synergies well, you feel it and have a genuine good time. Great video to get started. Was certainly helpful for me anyways!
Best thing I ever learned was that you can push bosses off ledges. I've saved 2 runs, one by shouting a rat ogre into the canal as Witch Hunter, and the other by bombing another ogre into the ravine just before the ritual in Decay. In the first, I would have had to defeat an ogre on champion with two players. You don't get bonus points for kills, so if you can cheese the bosses, go for it.
Rule 4, when you were talking about the elf healing you, that was due to an over abundance of healing, and no one needed the healing given to you. Please try to pay attention next time my dude.
not true, most ironbreaker's I run into prefer to keep their allies up since they are immune to an attack every 7-10 seconds, have a lot of HP, and have higher DR so their HP goes a long way unlike all those squishy 100 HP heroes. Slayers on the other hand...well they just eat damage since they are a melee only with no shield, no DR, and 100 base HP (which is BS btw why this has not been changed I don't know), a bad slayer eats damage all the time and thus is always hogging all the healing

Wait... Hammers are BAD against Armor in this game?! But... Hammers were specifically used to deal with Armor in Warfare! Blades can't just cut through armor but Mallets and similar can dent them and kill the enemy easily with a blow into the helmet or the ribcage.
yup, found that very odd. They should have made hammers = meant for armoured enemies, swords = meant for slicing skins and axe = decent at both
Wait if hammers a bad at armor what would they be good for then??
@@warpboy101 In the game they are used for....cleaving through enemies with AoE sweeping attacks.....Yeaaaah, best not to question it.
if you plan to go for grimoires, make sure to have curse resist on your trinket, reduces the amount of hp you lose from the grimoire
Depends on which character you play, like zealot you want lower health
@@sebastianfong5040 zealot needs it especially because less max hp less damage he has
I remember first learning this in VT1. . . it was not clear what curse resistance was, but it sure is damn useful.
Curse resistance should be called grimoire resistance or something for real.
i had no fucking clue what curse resist did thank you so much
Nice Beginners guide, but I have to disagree with sparing health until you get downed.
Also as a beginners guide i doubt champ and legend are on the table for most players.
@@brandonpeters1981 4th day playing this game and im already on legend, it very much is on the table lol
Sadar also important, never waste healing. As in, if there‘s healing use it before you leave it. Got into a lot of bad situations with idiots who left healing behind even though they were below 70% health...
A score board? in vermintide? sounds like tzeench trickery
Or does it
Another useful thing about the explosive bomb is that it staggers monsters like the rat ogre, troll, etc.
I did mention this in the boss section maaan.
Incendiary bombs do stagger now.
giant.gfycat.com/SnivelingCorruptIceblueredtopzebra.webm
Fire bomb does combine nicely with shrapnel though as from what I have been able to tell the flames continue the shrapnel +20% damage while the boss is in the flame, so there is that to consider
Incendiary bombs DO stagger bosses, and DO interrupt chaos-spawn grabs.
This game is far more complex than people give it credit for.
Also... YOU HEAR THAT KERILLIANS? USE YOUR MELEE WEAPON. YOU DONT HAVE TO SHOOT EVERYTHING.
maybe, but with nearly infite arrows with that lvl 15 talent and either scrounger trait or the one where headshots return the arrow, its easier to take out a horde from one side before it reaches you
It will get nerfed eventually
Kerlian range is a huge help to sniping the hard to get enemies
Justin, sometimes people are hell of a good shot but are getting their ass kicked in melee. That is why they prefer ranged weapons. Doesn't have to do anything with ego.
10/10 Dawi storytime...
Except for a grudge on that last one.
Yes good deep game dynamics, you can solo or learn the hard way. This vid gives you something to think about that you can't just smash & slash run.
Finally, a guide that doesn't insist on putting your back in a corner and spamming guard bash while you wait for a gas rat to wipe the team.
Not be calling out spots to cower behind a shield for every single horde, and not diving into a choke point the game practically hands you.
dodge does NOT have unlimited uses... it has a dodge stamina (diffrent for class and weapon) that can run out and make your dodges pathetic sidesteps... alhtough dodge stamina replenishes fast (and instantly by jumping)
also, dodging BLOCKS block-stamina recovery
Sure. But I think it's a non-issue. You're never going to think "shit I better not dodge, I just dodged twice". If it was that important there would be a dodge stamina bar.
No, but you might think I just used X dodges pretty quickly better reset or not re-engage.
its very useful to know whether your next dodge is going to be pathetic or not. Died a few times on legend because i thought i had my full dodge but didnt and ended up eating a chaos warrior axe to the face
exactly.... its one thing they took from the first game
no actual explanation on this but just trial and error
again, its unique for each class and weapon... the elf for example DOES have infinite dodges with their dual swords /dual daggers/dagger sword
Also doesn't the distance dodge depend on the weapon? Like a shield will dodge a shorter distance compared to just a 1H sword or a mace?
0:09 "In this verminguide..."
I see what you did there.
You forgot Rule 6: "There is always a rat behind you"
Question: at 14:32, was it really a bad thing that the elf healed you? Even if you're getting free health from going down and coming back up, isn't that less free health than the items you're leaving on the ground?
And they were in a spot where you drop down, you can't get back up. Clearly he was wasting resources
I wiped out entire patrols with a well placed incendiary + Shieldbashes.
not mashing the attack button is heresy
Thank you for uploading!
Really helpful, easy to understand and improved my game massively!

Elf is caring, heals you when you actually need healing and everyone except you is clearly almost full health -> gets mad at elf

@Gavin Salcedo the bots aren't too bad though
@@aidynh5995 The Hell? They're fucking awful now. The last update broke them
Would also add that as soon as possible people go and mess about with their settings if they haven't done so already, as adjusting Player Outlines to 'Always On' and not just 'On', rebinding dodge and jump so they're on different keys, adjusting Field Of View (mine's personally set to 95 atm) help make things easier.
Further, that Ratling Gunners target one person only per volley, so if it's aiming at you, maybe try to step back and let an ally past you to shoot instead of trying to outgun the ratling.
wow i didn't know about the outlines, just changed it now thanks
Good tip
I also noticed this interaction and instantly made me consider the halberd amazing instead of dogpewp
"The dwarf seems to hangs around the massive drop to fight troll. Troll wins. The end."
My fav variation of the story is "three of your party members think a narrow corridor is a better place to fight chaos spawn than open area twenty feet in front of them"
This is one of the best guides I've ever watched for anything ever, such a good amount of knowledge here.
Ye well we shouldn't agree on everything just for the sake of agreeing that would be boring :)
I find the most useful approach to playing with people of different mindsets is to follow through in regards to what the most players are doing at any given time.
Fx I had a game where some guy thought he was the boss of everyone else, yelling his mouth of at every chance at how idiotic his teammates were. Granted the host made some really wacky calls, but me and the other rando followed him because we were stronger together. The mad "boss" player went on ahead, got killed by an assassin while alone and left the game :P
No matter what you perceive as being the "correct play" keep in mind that most players will need the support of their teammates, so better just follow the flow.
"Block depletes stamina so be careful"
Witch Hunter against Light attacks: Who decided that?
“Am I a joke to you”
I love how mad he gets at the person who stole the healing
Damage avoidance:
- Know your reach.
Over a year later, this is still a good guide for beginners. Even with the new patch and overhaul of combat.

Wish you did some more V2 content, now that all the careers have been released and so much have been updated.
5 minutes spent on the first point... and all of that time was used very effectively. Impressive.
This is an excellent guide, not just for Vermintide 2, but Vermintide 1 as well.

Good insight for new players to Vermintide 2.

The most satisfying melee combat ever committed to a game bar none. The sound of the horde and the frenetic carnage is beyond glorious
Sheesh, does everyone hate elves here? ^^ I just started playing and it's the only character I've leveled up a bit and I really like her
LazyGibbon this is a little late, but..
Matt XAnder I’ve never had that experience in the year I played the game. It’s always saltzpyre that does it.
Free Corps yeah saltz players are usually glory hounds as well...dunno why, but they are. True enough.

The elf was trying to help you with excess healing and you spew nonsense at her in the chat?

I don’t mind holding tomes, just make sure someone protects you and be a projectile based class
Don't forget some of their attacks are unblockable too so you should try to dodge every boss attack while you block.
best beginner's guide i could find on youtube, thanks

It's pretty stupid if you want to figure things out on your own.

Loved the Greedy Little Elf story. Thankfully, you don't see it that often but gotta wonder what they are thinking.
Correction, first rule of Vermintide, watch the Zerkovich guide.
Thanks, these tips were super useful and have spared me quite some time!!!
Yea, but you lose loot die if they die like that too.

Typical elf player :P
yup, I see a normal elf player..nothing strange here..
LUMBERFOOTS
Untypical Dwarf, those guys are usually dicks too.
not true, most ironbreaker's I run into prefer to keep their allies up since they are immune to an attack every 7-10 seconds, have a lot of HP, and have higher DR so their HP goes a long way unlike all those squishy 100 HP heroes. Slayers on the other hand...well they just eat damage since they are a melee only with no shield, no DR, and 100 base HP (which is BS btw why this has not been changed I don't know), a bad slayer eats damage all the time and thus is always hogging all the healing
Nevaa trust an elf!
As a new player in 2022 these are still incredibly useful fundamentals! Thank you! Subbed.
