In most matters in life, I agree that each person should be left to their own devices. However, I personally see this situation as akin to the slavery situation, where it's not good enough that we can say "I don't want any slaves because I think it's wrong, but if other people want them they can do whatever they want". Is the fetus a human being or not? If it is then the state has every right to protect that human being. There are cases, such as an ectopic pregnancy, in which the pregnant WOMAN would die without an abortion. But they are rare. The inconvenience to the pregnant woman is the overwhelming reason she has an abortion. Children are inconvenient to fathers for 18 years. Perhaps fathers should have the power to kill children after they are born like in the good old days of Rome.
