  • Th easy way to seal and protect car wheels.
    For the winter months it's a good idea to seal your wheels from the elements. In winter we have all sorts of nasties on the road from dirt, grime and salt to the extreme temperatures and weather conditions. This is why it's a great idea to act before winter to ensure your wheels stay in their best condition.
    Sealing wheels can either be time consuming or simple, in this video I go through the thorough steps involved to get your wheels best protected.
    In the final stages, using the CarPro HydrO2 you can see how easy it is to protect your cars wheels from the elements.

      It's really, really good and easy to use. I want to try it on paintwork too but that's something I'm going to do now I'm back home. This video turned out a little long winded but you can use this stuff with the wheels still on the car. This is great to 'top up' the protection, plus it should make cleaning really easy.

    Only just seen your vid, cracking way to clean them up etc. Carbon collective platinum wheels has to be the best thing I've used for sealing Alloys, hydr02 will be a great top up on top of it!

      Thanks for the kind words. How do you find the Carbon Collective stuff? I keep meaning to have a look at their range. HydrO2 would be perfect on top of it! Let me know

      My Supercar Life I've had platinum wheels on my own car for just over 3 years & still protection as it should(albeit not like the day it was put on as I'm sure that's understandable). I've thrown everything at them fallout removers, tfr's, even & know it's silly really strong cleaners to see how it would cope & again it still shows signs even now of protection... id recommend their products to anyone, their paint sealants (platinum or oracle) are also easy to apply & are very durable. If you try them you'll be impressed mate without a doubt, again a top of of hydr02 would be perfect! Ps totally in love with the Ferrari 😍. Keep the great vids coming pal.

      Wow, that sound like a positive review :) I like you way of testing lol!
      Thanks, the Ferrari is great but not much use in this weather and next thing it'll be due a service ffs. Hoping for the weather to get a bit better so I can make some new vids. Everything seems to be against me at the moment. Snowed under with work, snowed under doing work on my house Grrrrr.

    This is an amazing product, I've been using it since last summer both on wheels and on paint. I did my silver car with it last summer as a test, and this spring I used it on my new dark grey Cadillac with absolutely no issues.
    I LOVE this product on wheels because it is SO easy to use and requires almost no effort (assuming that you are starting with clean wheels).
    Just to add to your video, you don't actually need very much product. Dilute the Hydro2 concentrate 1 parts to 6 of water as per CarPro. I also used about half of the prepared solution that you did with a fine mist, and I didn't find that there was any need to wipe it around - simply mist, and rinse with a bit of pressure..
    You do need to be careful to rinse ANY place your mist might have hit , as any overspray that isn't quickly rinsed off will show up as streaks after drying, particularly on darker colours.
    It's important to note that CarPro has 2 products, "Hydro2 Concentrate" and "Hydro2 Lite" - the latter is ready to use (undiluted), but the concentrate is much better value if you will use it often.
    Due to the ease of application and low cost per use (if purchased as a concentrate) I question the investment in a more durable (but expensive and more labour-intensive to apply) product such as the GTechniq Wheel Armour or the Cquartz equivalent. I had the wheels on my Porsche CQuartzed before I discovered Hydro2, but had I known about this I likely would have used Hydro2 instead.

      It's a great product isn't it! I find it makes cleaning afterwards sooo much easier. I did use too much, this was the first time using it, and the spray bottle wasn't primed or set, and there was way too much coming out. I later did some other wheels, and probably used the amount on all 4 that I used on this 1 wheel. The article I read said that by wiping you ensure that you get 100% coverage, which I sort of agree with.
      Good to know that about dark colours. I've only used it on wheels so far so thanks for the tip.
      I use the concentrate, but I don't know what the 'shelf life' is once it's mixed. I've had mine mixed since this vid in the same spray bottle, and I'm not 100% sure how long it lasts.
      Now, your last point is an interesting one to me. I've just bought another car and the wheels have been fully refurbished (Porsche Turbo II Wheels) before I pick it up and I'm unsure what to use on them. I was thinking of the GTechniq and I was going to email them to see how long I need to leave the wheels before they can be sealed (out gassing from painting etc). I'm thinking of Gtech Wheel Armour then top up with hydro2 but not sure what to do. Thanks again for a great comment.

      Would you mind linking the article you're referring to? I'd love to read it. I found that by using a fairly fine mist I was able to get it all over the wheels pretty nicely. I can see that wiping could have benefit, particularly on the body... on the other hand, I believe that the key to using this product without streaks is to get it off quickly (and thoroughly), and wiping may slow that down too much.
      My solution has been mixed for over a year - I just gave it a quick shake and used it a few weeks ago on the CTS with no issues... but I don't really know if there is a real shelf life as long as you protect it from extreme temperatures.
      I thought about the same thing, using the Hydro2 on top of the CQuartz, but I believe it needs an uncoated surface to bond and work properly - you may end up spraying the Hydro2 on and just spraying it off.

    This is a new product for me and ive been thinking of ordering it. Ive watched a few videos. Aren't you supposed to use a heavy stream of water like a power washer to rinse off? Obviously in your case you don't because it turned out great.

    • @MySupercarLife
      @MySupercarLife  6 років тому

      It's a very good product, I swear by it now. Yes, you should use a power washer (I don't know why I didn't must be because this was the first time I used it) as the shock activates the sealant but you can get away with a hose if you have to. I've always used a power washer since, so don't know if it makes 'that much' difference.
      My advice if you have a power washer use it, if you don't then use a hose on a powerful stream.
      Thanks for commenting!

    seeing as your wheels are so expensive, have you thought about Gtechniq C5 Wheel Armour? its mega stuff, and easily durable for more than 12 months..rather than Hydro 2 which has a max durability of 3 months....you could also top it up with Reload, or C2v3.

    • @MySupercarLife
      @MySupercarLife  7 років тому

      Hmmm, I see what you're saying, might be worth considering. I have a car coming later this week, so it may be worth doing those with the Gtechniq Wheel Armour.
      The only problem is, I've looked at it before but I always thought it was a bit pricey as it says you need the larger bottle for over 17" wheels, which is £42.50. The thing is I have 4 cars with decent wheels on and 3 are bigger sizes - Range Rover Sport has 22" Overfinch, the Ferrari has 19" and the new car has 21" so I'd need probably 3 large bottles which would be £127.50 - I need a happy medium between cost and durability.

      then GYEON RIM is your answer....I have it on my new Shogun wheels with about a third left in the bottle.....impressive stuff...one small bottle did all 4 barrels an all....so far 11 months and still beading like new....£21.95 per bottle....i'd say you need 3 bottles only.

      That might be better, but the only problem I can see is leaving them for over 24 hours somewhere warm and dry. How did you do yours? I could do them one at a time bringing them in to the house. Otherwise I suppose I could do them next year when the weather picks up. Arrrgh I hate winter!

    • @robbihongkong903
      @robbihongkong903 7 років тому

      just buy one them cheap IR heaters for the house...there about £20....5 mins per wheel and the coating has fully cured and gassed off.......I've topped mine with C2v3 for even better performance.....you have some very nice vehicles...I'm seriously jealous!....yer vids are very impressive.

    • @MySupercarLife
      @MySupercarLife  7 років тому +1

      I might do that, or buy some winter wheels, then treat the summer ones in winter and vice versa.
      Thanks I try my best. The cars are fun, but cleaning them is more fun in a strange way. I'm trying to get some new vids done, I've not done many uploads recently as I've been busy with work and stuff, but I'm working on a few new ones, plus the weather is crap now so need to find a way of braving the cold and detailing!
      I enjoyed your Bike detailing vid. I don't know much about bikes, but I recon that people will definitely watch videos covering the different aspects of detailing them.

      I got a set shortly after this vid. I did a lot of should I shouldn't I before I bought them, as I wasn't sure if they were worth the money. I was wrong, they are awesome! I keep meaning to do a review of them, but it's just too cold at the moment.
