  • How to Use a Fallout Remover to Clean Car Wheels.
    Fallout removers are great, they help to remove bonded on iron particles that can cause those nasty rust spots on wheels and car paint work, but are you using yours in the most effective way?
    In this video I'm going to show you how to use a fallout remover to correctly remove Iron and brake dust particles from your cars wheels.
    We often see the picture of the 'bleeding wheel' when these products are sold, but is that the best way to use a fallout remover?
    I put this to the test, and show you how that might not be the most effective way to remove the iron particles that you set out to remove. You may not even be removing them at all!
    We experiment to find the best method of using a fallout remover to 'clean' your cars wheels.

      Can you use it on coatings like gtechniq c5, or will it affect it?

      I Clean wheel first with a ph neutral soap then blow dry and use iron x for 3-5min then rinse

      Malcolm Bale C5 is one of the best product for protection purposes. Iron or fallout removers could use for cleaning and break dust, but some ph natural cleaners help on increasing the life of the protection layer. Personally I prefer to use valet pro bilberry for heavy dirty wheels. It’s been 2 years and my C5 is still alive .

      Thanks for sharing. The thing is to do it properly you still need to clean the wheels first or you are just removing the surface iron particles (as shown in this video). The Meguiars product has both a cleaner and fallout remover. My opinion is that it's better done as 2 separate processes, clean then decontaminate. Or clean and then use the Meguiars 👍

    Hello from Toulouse in France. Thank you for your videos which are as usual realistic and accurate. Indeed I tested several brands of Iron remoover without washing the rim before and it gave a very average result whatever the brand of product. A wash then a drying and then the Iron remoover, yes, it works.
    You are a Good
    Good luck, I am now your channel as a faithful

      Merci mon ami!
      Thank you for your kind words! We both found the same thing, using the remover before is not the best way, and doesn't give the best results, wastes product and money! Even the best products in the world used incorrectly will give bad results, I hope this helps people on the right track.
      Thanks for commenting :-)

    I’ve used it three times within 4 months… do you think I’ve done damage? My brake disc is always brown/orange when it dries and I don’t know what to do. I’m afraid if I use the fallout remover again it might cause damage or not work to remove the browning at all (even tho it reacts). Please help 😭

    Great video! A lot of knowledge in one video! So you should pretty much use it just like you use it on paint. Wash, dry, apply iron remover, then rinse off.
    Only other reason to use fallout remover on wheels before cleaning is for before and after pictures lol

    • @MySupercarLife
      @MySupercarLife  6 років тому

      Thanks for the kind words! Yes, use it in exactly the same way as on paint, it's far more effective that way.
      Definitely before washing for before and after pics, or to waste money lol!

    Exactly how I would do my wheels, except why do your wheels last? Should be the first thing to clean so the dirt doesn't transfer onto your body sides when giving it a quick blast.

    • @MySupercarLife
      @MySupercarLife  5 років тому +1

      Thanks for commenting. Normally I would clean them first, but I did them last just for filming purposes. Sometimes it's easier as it can take so long to film things I'd run out of time and not end up getting the car cleaned LOL!

      @MySupercarLife  6 років тому +2

      Cheers mate! Yeah, you do have to be a bit careful with how often you use it. But it's not nearly as bad as what some of the scratch and go car washes use!

  • @LadyJustice86

    Fallout remover will not 100% clean the wheel. If you wanna be hardcore anal about it, you'd remove your wheels, degrease, rinse, wash, rinse, fallout, rinse, and claybar, wash, rinse and dry....... Ya.

    • @MySupercarLife
      @MySupercarLife  6 років тому +1

      It surprises me how many people think it does, and how many manufacturers sell the product as a cleaner. It's like everything else: it has it's place if used properly. I see the same thing with snowfoam where people complain that it doesn't work and it doesn't clean their car - It's not supposed to, it's a pre-wash to remove surface dust etc, prior to washing to help eliminate swirls - it was never designed to clean cars. It's mainly down to how things are marketed.

    Some fallout removers actually do contain soap, such as Dooka Bleed and Bilt Hamber Auto Wheels. But for those that don't, your point is spot-on.

    • @MySupercarLife
      @MySupercarLife  3 роки тому

      True, but they will only react with the surface iron until you start to agitate and use the soap chemical at which point the fallout chemical doesn't have dwell time to remove the embedded iron particles under the dirt layer, if you see what I mean. It's hard to put in words 😁. I'd personally use 2 separate products to get the best results but I understand what you're saying.

    Just about to use the Fallout remover on a new car that is 6-months old your video tells it as it is I was very suspicious about this Fallout remover but you have put my mind to rest this is the proper way to use it plus I like the warning only use it 6 to 8 months

    • @MySupercarLife
      @MySupercarLife  3 роки тому

      I'm happy you found the video useful 👍. Fallout remover is like lots of products - if used properly it gives great results and is worth having, if used on a dirty wheel, for example how it is shown in many advertisements, then you'll be disappointed.
      Yeah, be careful how often you use it as I find it can cause corrosion on unpainted brake parts etc.

    Does it matter if you spray or catch it on the brake discs?

    • @MySupercarLife
      @MySupercarLife  3 роки тому

      No as long as the paint isn't too thick it will wear off pretty much when you drive the car

  • @wolfdetailing2588
    @wolfdetailing2588 4 роки тому

    A lot of what you say is spot on, things do move on though and things like Bilt Hamber Auto Wheel do also contain some detergent now. That said i would always get as much muck and brake residue off before adding any kind of fallout remover, and agree that its not something you should have to do on a daily driver with average weekly mileage. A good look at the car and the wheel after a good jet spray off should tell you all you need to know

    Can you use fallout remover on coated wheels like c5?

    • @MySupercarLife
      @MySupercarLife  6 років тому +1

      Yes, as most fallout removers are PH neutral, they should be safe to use on pretty much all coatings.
      If you're in any doubt, you can apply some in a small area using a brush, or even cotton bud (q-tip), behind a tyre valve for example to make sure nothing adverse happens.
