Keto does not ban an entire food group, only simple carbs. We still get carbs from veggies and nuts. Carb is significantly reduced not entirely banned. Get right!

Might be referring to dirty keto with the processed meats containing sulfites and nitrites or whatever. I can see how that's bad. But most of us are eating clean and paying attention to what we're eating for sure. Another commenter said that it wasn't even keto because the study had 125g carbs. Idk what study it is, but definitely isn't keto, which makes me wonder if they were consuming exogenous ketones and don't know what they're talking about and tried to pass it off as keto. Dropped 70 lbs doing keto in 2020 and gained back a bit eating bad and am doing it again and already dropped 14 lbs in the past two months. I feel amazing. Not giving this up. I have been craving whole foods, real meat and real veggies now. Before keto, I hated eating veggies.

They always conflate it with dirty keto/junk food. Because they are so unhealthy and fat, they can't wrap their heads around the concept of "fat" as an essential nutrient - only as a deep fried potato.
Nah its the "keto" snacks or processed stuff claiming to be keto thats bad. Mtc oil and a lot of fat/oil in diet even if its "good" fat aint easy on the artery system. Just make sure to really still check what you eat and dont go dumb "if its writtrn keto on it its healthy" trap. The best diet we all knew for the longest time..meat with veggies and a base of grain/fiber to make that belly go round.

I don’t think you know what you are talking about, sadly 😕I reversed prediabetes, lost 25kg, got rid of metabolic syndrome, great energy level, increased cognitive function and so on, WITH KETO, nothing processed, no alcohol, no smoking. Saturated fat keeps me in great shape! Carbohydrates, the opposite!

My bloodwork says otherwise doc. In the exact words of my doctor, "your bloodwork is PERFECT! YAY KETO!" I've lost 27lbs on keto, moved to Carnivore and have lost a total of 40lbs. No more heartburn, no bloating, no chronic pain, no sleeping all day, no more depression and my gut issues from celiac disease must be healing because I've improved there as well.
In 08 I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, RA and chronic fatigue syndrome. I was too sick to work. No doctor did anything to help me but hand me a script! I went on a mission to heal myself. I have no symptoms when I stick to Carnivore. I've learned that carbs, sugar, veggies and spices cause me flares. I eat only Carnivore and I feel normal. No flares! I'm well enough that I went back to work pt last Jan. 😊 It's gave me my life back! I didn't have a life before.

I was avoiding meat then had a heart attack. Now that Im on Keto, my heart is healthier per my recent stress test and echocardiogram.
Too much glucose = too much inflammation.
More meat less heart attacks. More sugar and carbs more heart attacks.
That's hardly scientific reseach LOL. When going from junk food (i.e. simple sugars, processed foods, large quantities,...) to a keto diet, you'll probably see huge health improvements. That doesn't mean replacing nearly all your daily carbs with meat is the key to a healthy heart and cardiovascual system.

You’re right, I should go back to foods that make be bloated and uncomfortable. I’ve done keto on and off for about eight years. I always feel better on keto. I want to eat all the starchy stuff but it is only good in my mouth and then it’s all bad.

Keto doesn't ban entire food groups, unless you consider processed food a food group We've been keto for 4 years now and eats lots of veggies and a fair amount of fruit. Vegans eliminate all animal products. Maybe the good doctor was thinking about vegans when he talked about eliminating entire food groups is not good.

Fruit has fructose which is horrible for you, can't be metabolized by the body, causes fatty liver, and if consumed in large amounts, Alzheimer's. Fruit is also not part of a keto diet.

Even if I don't lose any weight, I eat Keto because it reduces my inflammation. Arthritis in my tailbone, in my lower back and in my hands, keto is the only way I have been able to survive. Once on keto, I do not crave carbs at all. It is the only way of life that I can eat out and still stay in control.
This "Short" purports a Keto Diet "can be" bad for a person, but it does not cite facts or the science behind the assertion. So, basically this opinion is a "sentiment, belief, viewpoint." Not 'fact.

your mistake is not enough fat and salt. takes quite a while to get the body adjusted. the sicker you are, the harder it is.
Keto will not send you to the grave. It will do the opposite and I will elaborate. You cut sugars, you cut processed foods. You get the right amount of carbs from natural veggies, you also get in a healthy dose of protein. I am 51yo and I always had high Triglyceride, but ince Inwent on Keto my blood work has come back normal. I lost excess pounds. I also learned to cook my own meals. I dont stay on Keto, but use it to balance out when I step over the line.
Doctor tells you keto will kill you, then proceeds to put you on gabapentin with a smile acting like it's safe and acting like it doesn't have like 80 side effects that WILL kill you.
...Gabapentin IS safe for those who need it. Don't go calling the kettle black kiddo.

Keto leads to autophegy. Other diets don't. There is no bad news other than your reporting on a poorly executed study. (I mean that literally. It did. It take actually study Keto, so much as something sort of like it)
The same with intermittent fasting, which is similar to the keto diet in that you're interrupting glycolysis.

Been on keto for 4 years. Just got my labs done and everything is normal. Used to be morbidly obese, type 2 diabetic with blood pressure through the roof. A1C currently at 5.2. But the most important thing is how good I feel. The excellent quality of sleep I get. The sustained energy I have that lasts throughout the day. The better mood I experience. The clearer skin I have. The lack of joint pain. I could go on and on and on….
Tell that to the fourty pounds of fat i burned while on keto 🔥

The Keto Diet is based on vegetables, some fruits, and protein sources. The Keto diet omits sugar, processed foods, and unhealthy carbs. I will take my chances with the Keto or Mediterranean Diet. My health improved with the Keto Diet.
Or, you can even do like Thomas DeLauer suggests and have a Mediterranean based Keto diet.

The liver can also produce too much glucose and fails to recognise insulin.

None sense! Some people just do better with certain food groups and cannot tolerate certain kinds of foods. Those foods may not be bad but everyone feels different based on their biology. they may have different tolerances for certain foods. I have found carbs are like poison to my gut which research may not support but my body feels like this on carbs. One study says this and other studies say something else.

This 2018 study has important shortcomings. As a doctor (not a keto fan) I wouldn't extrapolate this was bad news for keto diet when 25-years eating habits were analyzed. Confounding factors like diabetes, obesity, etc. were not controlled.
Usually, when I hear someone died or had a stroke after going on keto, it's because they had years or decades of bad eating habits, so you're probably right.
Never mentioned what the results or the study was. Leto isn’t for everyone. I lost 100lbs with keto and fasting and improved my mental capacity,mood and insulin response. Now that I’m lean I use it as a tool. The issue with most people living in the west is sugar, carbs and highly processed foods. Especially hydrogenated oils.

The best I have ever felt was on Keto. Mentally and physically it was the best time period for me. Currently pregnant so oats are back on the menu as well as fruit. lol

Keto is not about cutting out whole food groups. I still eat vegetables. Just not sugar and wheat. Or overly processed foods.
Maybe Keto works for some people and not others? Factors to consider how did the people actually practise keto? Health issues like diabetes or high blood pressure or high cholesterol? Exercise habits? Sleep habits? Types of food consumed? Genetic background? I dont think keto works for everybody- but if it done correctly for certain types of people it may benefit them in the short run or long run. There is No such thing as a "one diet" that suits everybody. Rather we need to customise our diet, exercise and supplements to what suits us individually.
Some of the soundest, most logical, advice to live by. This is so true; I always say "everyBODY is different."

Keto is good, carnivore even better. On both satiety is better, but even more important than that, adherence is better. For me, 150 lbs lost and have maintained wt. loss for more than one year.

I think the study needs to be studied by qualified persons and see how it was done. You cant just take it at face value.
Yeah, someone dropping 10-15% off their body fat total is better than being 40% body fat. Many people I know have done keto and IF then added healthy fruits and vegetables

It’s funny to see how the UA-cam comment section is smarter than a doctor
in the 1970s they ate more saturated fat (so do the French) and they lived longer and were less obese. When you lower the fat you higher the sugar. We fuel either from carbs (starch or sugars) or fat. Fat soluble vitamins A, D, K, E require fat to get into the body and we need these for healthy bones and immunity, Nothing is stopping us from eating some fruit (berries, peppers, tomato, avocado) on a keto diet, including vegetables (non-starchy or some starchy veg). We can back off from all refined sugar and carbs completely. Drop the phytates and high omega 6-containing food like wholewheat or oats. We could eat a tiny amount of beans and teaspoons if we wished just to feed out good bacteria. Keto diets are cheaper and tastier.

I've had many patients as an RN. People with pancreatitis from taking ozempic, to vegans but I've NEVER taken care of a keto patient. There is something to this

After several months on keto I feel weak and horrible and always hungry. If I eat a lot of fats I throw up. I physically cannot do keto. I eat low GI carbs but still limit to less than 100grams and I get cardio in 3-5 times per week and I feel good and the weight stays off.
I hate keto, it made me lost weight and lower my sugar but the lack of vegetables and fiber. I prefer a low carb diet not Keto. Low carb always helped me and make me maintain my weight lost. Keto I good for short term

I’ve done a low-fat, high-protein, moderate carb diet and lost 60 pounds. I have done the keto diet losing 60 pounds. However, the keto diet has been the most healthy diet for me. My resting heart rate, blood pressure have been fantastic.

I also, recently, got a substantial life insurance policy, and they did a lot of test. One test was for my heart. To test the overall health and the possible development of heart disease. The scale was 0 to 163. I scored a 36. Keto has not put my heart in danger
