      Huh? U can say that to almost every other bike company (German,other Japanese, Italian, American, hell even Chinese), in that regard every non-indian brand is a experience good or bad, Honda is not 'unique' (becz Ghar ki murgi daal barabar). RE buyer/fans can also argue about their brand's heritage and legacy and how it's oldest bike manufacturer etc.

    No way not going to spend double the price just for slightly better reliability.
    I have a KTM 390 ADV X. The older 390 engine has been in the market for such a long time. All major issues have been worked out. It has been a flawless ownership experience. I just fill up and ride. No tinkering or tightening something. I follow the normal service intervals.
    Indian brands are easy to service and parts are cheap and abundant. I can expect to get the KTM repaired in most places in India compared to the Honda.
    Secondly, I have peace of mind that if something happens to the bike like an accident I don't have to sell my kidney to pay off the parts bill.
    In Covid times I remember CB500X owners were paying through their noses for parts and tires because the imports were disrupted.

    I own Himalayan 450 most of the issues you mentioned sorted like connectivities, switch gear.. Heating is prominent in this summer in city's stop and go traffic which needs to be addressed by RE. No issues at all for highways.. Honda have a proven engine that's all.. For that huge On road price of this CBU unit is unjustified even for twin cylinder setup. Himalayan is gm any day. You can buy 3-4 Himalayan with same money of honda to keep warranty intact for years with resale and repurchase 😊😊 just a juggad thought

      All bikes have issues. That's not the point. It's how the service team handles those issue is what matter. And with RE, you better be prepared to get annoyed. One visit to the workshop and you will come back remembering those good old days when you owned a Bajaj. I own a KTM ADV and the tyres cracked a month after warranty ended. And I don't need to mention what a Metzeler costs? The KTM guys just replaced it. No questions asked! While my friend with a meteor is still struggling to get the cone set rectified, forget replacement.

      I have had great experience at RE service centers. All my issues were immediately fixed and addressed. Even say with the new Himalayan right leaning issue. Fixed the same week of delivery. I except issue with any bike, but I expect more from the service center to fix issues. Have heard enough horror stories about Triumph and Honda dealers treating customers like shit and not fixing the bike even after spending 20-40k on service! 😂

      My father gifted me a Hero Honda Splendor way back in 1996. I really fell in love with it. I quit riding when I bought a car in 1999. I bought the Honda CB350 last month, not the Highness or the RS, but the newer model launched late last year, which looks like the RE Classic 350 (In fact, it looks better than the RE Classic 350, in my opinion). I have always wanted to own an RE Classic 350 but was unsure about its reliability. Last month, I rode a bike for the first time after 25 years when I went for a test ride on the Honda CB 350. It was absolutely fantastic. Fell in love with the bike.
      However, my experience with the Honda service has not been as good as yours. I ride my bike only on the weekends. I noticed that my bike started leaking oil after the first service, and the "service due" indicator keeps flashing. This doesn't speak well of the Honda Service. I intend to keep this bike until I die, and I hope this "service" experience is just an aberration and not a norm that I must reconcile to. 🙏

    Why do people complain when the pricing and experience is so different. RE has changed its tech in the last 8 years (2 for development and 6 since the 650 twins were launched) after almost a 100 years of making oretty much the same old deisgn. Honda on the other hand has been in the game for decades and in all sorts of genres (supersports, adv, tourer etc).
    I for one commend RE for what it has achieved in the last few years. So many people in western countries are excited cos many of them dont want to have big heavy tech filled motorcyclea and want a smaller, lighter and simpler bike, a gap that the Him 450 and CFmoto 452 fills.

    My experience with the new 450 has not been very great. There is some kind of friction inside the engine but RE service centre is unable to figure out whats wrong and they are saying its just normal vibration which its not. Man. Find a private garage that specialise in RE service. They might build a Sherpa or a Gurkha or a Pathan engine. End of the day it's still an RE. The private guys should be able to solve the issue as the RE mechanics community is really well connected. With service centers you actually get into that corporate hierarchy. Sometimes even if the mechanic knows a solution he is not authorised to solve it. One reason why I always have bought Bajaj and KTMs. The service guys are from a different universe all together. If they are not authorised to do something in the showroom they clearly mention that and share the contacts outside the official network.

    I'd rather save some more money and get the NX500 even if I have to pay double the price.
    The reliability that the 473cc engine offers is soo good that can easily use it for a decade and still be satisfied later.
    Cannot say the same thing about the Himmy 450. I know it's built to a cost and NX s not value for money considering that it's a CBU.
    Honda should have bought it the CKD route which would have dropped the price by 10-15%.
    They should have priced it around 4.5L ex showroom

  • @shebz7
    @shebz7 4 місяці тому +3

    Biggest difference is the weight balance on these two machines
    One feels like a feather and the other like an elephant
    Cruising at 100 on NX is buttery smooth and on the Himalayan it’s vibey
    And that is why you pay the premium so stop comparing these two beautiful machines which are great in their own genre and let the audience decide by doing their own test rides.
    RE offers a brilliant product in the price bracket and people that have budget constraints should and will definitely opt for the Himalayan as it’s a great value product and if you want a superior riding experience without budget constraints and think about stability, control and other parameter that makes riding delightful you go for the Honda
    If RE launches a parallel twin adv with proper traction control, refined engine and balanced weight distribution and power delivery .... that is the day you do a comparison … until then let this aimless debate go
    Actual fun of comparisions will happen if KTM launches their ADV in the himalayan price band but as expected it will sit between these two bikes and will be the real competition to Himalayan 450 - People looking to buy the himalayan will not even test drive the NX 500 and vice versa because they both fall in different price brackets and everyday usage

    Yes , Honda is going to be way better in terms of quality .. but how better and how long .. let's say if theres someone who is going to pay 6 lakhs for a 500 cc ..that person almost always has enough money to be fancied by n buy something either different or upgrade in about 2-3 years.. so the 'high build quality' material , which would go on for 15 years maybe , is of no actual use to the buyer . Then..if it's about your day to day comfort quality, i don't think himalayans seat, suspension, riders triangle etc which defines most of plushness is way far behind is what reputed riders n reviewers have told video after video.. Now performance quality- both r on the platform of touring n adventure .. there are thousands of riders who have showcased how their himalayans have treaded anywhere from Himalayas to Europe .. Honda 500x might be new , did Honda arrange at least for mktg purpose 20-30 riders to go these terrains to suggest it's TWICE as good for that job .. No...
    so be it the build quality- which might hold for a lifetime OR the every day ride quality- which is just marginally good , makes the cost incurred absolutely foolish..( that said - being a Lil foolish in buying a two wheeler is ok - tastes u know) ...but this is just a LOT foolish .. and even if ud wanna sell after 2 years.. for a 500cc used bike, regardless of whatever the badge , i don't have to tell if it'll sell itself to make u smile .. it won't .. so it's neither twice the speed or twice the comfort or twice safe neither the premium badged bikers would let u brag with this thing.. the only thing its good might be five times the LIFE the build quality- gives ..but as I said it's an obsolete betterment for those are at that price point.
    The thing is- Honda or anyone , pl listen to this , for the first 2 hundred cc , ON Road could go upto 1 lakh / 100 cc.. beyond that it should only be 50k/ 100 cc... so a 500cc bike should not cost more than 3.5 lakhs at any cost, and if anyone is further peddling quality and brand on a price tag , add a lakh more - 4.5 on road .. That's it..anything more than is just stealing out of your pocket and we shouldn't fall for it , and let this purchasing decision make them review their pricing. Lets not allow PPL or organizations oversell their quality or brand , perceived or even real one.

    Remember the CB500X? first a step price cut, then sudden withdrawal from the market. This time, again the bike has disappeared from the showrooms. They are saying no more deliveries this year. Can't trust Honda, the are just NOT serious about this bike. It IS an awesome bike....But just not woth it. Leaning towards the desi H450 at less than half the cost....and that ain't half the bike, 80% maybe but certainly not half. Good luck selling this , Honda. You've screwed up..again.

    It's simple. NX500 if you have the money or it's your only bike! Because of the parallel twin and Honda "reliability". However, if anything breaks be ready to wait for weeks to months for parts to arrive, even in Mumbai, longer in the sticks. Himalayan is the more value for money alternative, yes you have to deal with the single cylinder vibes but it's Hella good off road! Nx500 misses out on 21-inch spokes and switchable rear ABS. Himalayan misses out on traction control. That's about it. I have multiple bikes and prefer the RE in my stable.

    • @virajvrooms
      @virajvrooms 5 місяців тому +1

      A person having that budget won't really care about the delay. For him the Honda badge matter's more. And RE is no good either. It took 6 months for them to ship a cone set to Pune. Besides there is a big 'IF'. The only time I have seen the Versys 650 and the CBR 650 r going to the garage is when those met with an accident or for the usual service.

      @anirudhhhh 5 місяців тому

      @@virajvrooms The Himalayan is new and there is a lot of demand. I think RE will sort out the parts distribution in some time.
      A person with that budget will not care about the price but he will definitely care about the delay.
      If I already know that If I break something I will be out of commission for weeks and months I won't be able to enjoy the bike.
      With the Himalayan or the ADV 390 I can go as hard as I want and enjoy the ride. Also the Indian bikes are built for the abuse for example the alloys are made more sturdy and heavy to deal with bad Indian roads.
      Even if Indian brands go for service more often it is cheap and super quick. One big advantage is that you can get it fixed in most places in India.
      I think if a person wants to just enjoy riding onroad/offroad. Indian brands are the way to go.

    Generally in India most people arguing that Honda bikes are always way more expensive than Indian brand bikes I agree that, Same thing happens to me in 2011 when I bought Honda CBF Stunner it's a 125cc bike, at that time this bike cost is almost near to the Bajaj pulsar 150 and TVS Apache 160 everybody around me told that why you spend more money for a 125cc bike while you had option for bigger 150 and 160cc bikes and all of my friends at that time had Pulsar and Apache bikes. Now FastForward to today these pulsar's and Apache's are giving more trouble over the time now everybody changed to second and third bike except me my Honda Stunner is 13 years old and running more than 86000kms till now I didn't face any issues in my bike even today I am taking this bike to the 500kms long ride no problem at all. If you think that NX500 is twice the price as Himalayan 450 remember that it will run till you die.

      I have Bajaj Pulser 150cc which was bought during 2011. It has almost clocked more than 130000km+ , exact count I don't know as it doesn't go more than 99999 so. I had daily travel of 75kms for last 5 years and bcz of that it has clocked so much. I would say that my experience with Bajaj Pulser was amazing , not a single breakdown in whole 12 yrs and also never disappointed me mileage or anything. when I purchased at that time it was giving me mileage of 70+kms but not lately it is giving me only 30+kms . Itna chalega to inefficient to banega hi . But it was reliable bike for sure. I can't say same for the new bajaj bikes now as I don't have same experience. Since last 2 years , My daily driver is Meteor 350. I would say it is more uncomfortable than my pulser 150. I had to increase the cushioning of seats and I also changed the suspension of it, I replaced it with Old classic 350 Nitrous suspension and Now It's night and day difference in terms of ride quality. I was about to sale the meteor due to lot of back pain and not able to adapt the cruiser riding style but I made it like a little bit classic 350 style riding style. Now I know that actually I used my pulser 150 as adventure bike ride style which I can't do with meteor 350. So I am planning to replace it with any ADV bike for sure but as typical Indian , I know Honda bikes are good , engines are good, but double the price , if you can , you should ow Himalayan is not bad either.

    Honest review Alert!
    The Himalayan 450 is just a fantastic bike; I got mine 3 days back and have to say it's a beautiful machine.
    I was waiting and trying to find a way to buy this premium NX500, but here are my thoughts.
    1. I want a bike with power 40bhp+4(with PowerTRONIC FuelX). It is indeed amazing to cruise at good triple-digit speed.
    2. I have felt the vibration on the handlebar a bit, but it settles down at high speed. Also, I am planning to change the plastic handle grips, which will help a lot, + good gloves for a long tour will take care of it.
    3. What an amazing suspension system it has got. What else can you expect at 3.5 L on-road? Have done 60 km on a very rough road, and it is pretty comfortable for the pillion rider.
    If you are someone like me, who is in dilemma. Just get this machine!
    Thank me later Haha
    P.S.: Now stop comparing part by part with a premium imported product!

    I have been using 2019 model honda cb500x for daily commuting and long distance touring in the Netherlands for past 7 months. Honda CB500X is well-suited for touring due to its comfortable ergonomics, reliable and efficient engine, good wind protection, and versatile suspension setup. It strikes a balance between performance and comfort, making it a reliable companion for both short trips and extended tours. I can easily cruise on long trips 130 km all day with sufficent amount of power left for overtaking. And i have done trips to germany alps with bigger companions sv650,moto morini 650 and few bigger engines. I can very easily cope up with them because of its versatile nature and linear torquey smooth engine.

    If I did not want to do big off road, and if I had the money, the NX is a great machine, smooth and powerful and the weight is hardly felt. Great for touring on highways and not too bad for the city either. But in comparison, the Himalayan feels very cheap in refinement although it has a great suspension. And despite feeling very top heavy, once on the move, it handles roads excellently. Turning radius for a bike that size is awesome. It's not as intimidating as it feels when you push it around before starting. So, for those of us who can't afford the NX, the Himalayan is naturally the remaining option, especially when you consider off roading. But do yourself a big favour, pls don't ride the NX just before touching the RE, you'll be less disappointed. They are very different machines actually.

    I actually liked this review. For guys complaining about both bikes being leagues apart. True from one side. But just jump to the other side of the spectrum. Two bikes that make absolutely no sense for the target it is intended for. One known for quality but pricy and another infamous for its recalls and after sales but cheaper. I would no doubt buy the Honda in my 55's. Quality and hassle free. I would buy the Himalayan if my family has been an RE fan and they don't find heritage in any other brand but at the same time I need an ADV and not a pseudo-cruiser.
