    I have been a Mitsubishi user for years. My last car was the Lancer. 19 years never missed a beat. Now I own a Montero Sport 2012. I have been driving it 9 years. 3 deep flood crossings and so far I only replaced brake pads and a belt. I will once again buy myself a Gen 3 Montero because of performance and reliability.

    I was going to go the MU-X but once I took the Pajero Sport for a drive I was sold, been a Toyota guy for ages but very disappointed in my local Toyota service and support, Toyota sales were not interested in selling either. My new PS will arrive mid October, very excited.

      My PS is now 3yrs old so as I'm in NZ I still have 7 years on the warranty to go. When deciding I tried the MU-X and the Holden Colorado wagon the Mitzi was far superior back then, I never tried the Fortuner almost double the price or the Ford equivalent for the same reason.
      I still love the PS on a long journey or around town. Most of my driving I'm in 4H as it feels more balanced and safer, especially in the wet. I only ever tow while in 4H. In fact towing in the wet in 4H I can out accelerate unloaded Ford Rangers coming out of sharp bends especially going up hill, they must wonder what's wrong with their ute. They usually roar past on the first straight to prove something.

For similar spec'd vehicles, it is not unusual to see at least a $10K price difference with a lot of their models. I've just bought a new Outlander LS 2WD Petrol and while the CVT transmission isn't perfect, it is a great family bus. Well done Mitsubishi!

    I just saw this and I'm nearly a 12mth owner of a Mitsi PJS in GLX guise. On road for me was @55K with tow bar, bull bar, roof bars, window tint and dash cams. Really good value. The reason for this was this was and is I believe the only 5 seat version available. The only major items I missed getting in this spec are the auto tail gate, a Locking rear diff and the option of leather. None of these matter to me. KId's have flown the coupe. It still has all the same safety goodies. On and Off road it has to this point been an awesome vehicle, even without the rear diff lock and yes, the Superselect transmission with the option of AWD on the tarmac for those wet days is a big plus. So far I'm loving the experience.😎

    I looked at both models as I was looking to purchase a new vehicle, I chose the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport. I have always bought Toyotas before but was disappointed with several aspects of the Fortuner. The side storage of the third row seat took up a lot of storage area and obstructed, the views out of the rear section. the third row in the Pajero folds down flat which is much more convenient and doesn't obstruct any line of sight. The Pajero Sport can be put in 4 wheel drive mode while on paved road when the conditions such as mud, rain and flooding makes its way on the road. I live in the country so this is very important. The tech in the Pajero Sport is much better overall than the Fortuner, this is both a positive and a negative as there is the possibility of having more electronics go wrong, but in this automotive day and age this may be a reality regardless of what new vehicle you own. I really hope that the next model of the Fortuner addresses these issues, but I am just one consumer and my concerns may not be the pathway for the Fortuner in the future but one can hope.

      @@umarasyrafu.a.6232 The Fortuner’s third row seats fold to the side and is fastened by a hook thereby limiting the useable area. The Pajero’s third row seats fold with the bottom seat folding forward and the back of the seat folding down leaving a flat large clear space. The second row seats can also be folded front to have a larger storage area, I’m not sure if the Fortuner does that. To be honest if the Toyota designed the third row storage differently it would be harder for me to make a decision on which to get as I have driven Toyota vehicles all my life.

    After doing two months of research I decided to buy Pajero Sports. Last week when I tried test drive, I was extremely disappointed with how small and narrow it was for my height I am 6'2. Then headed to Toyota to see the new Fortuner with little hope but within a minute I was sold. New facelift, tall and specious interior which gives you a proper 4x4 feeling unlike Pajero Sports feel like you are in a suzuki swift

    Hi Tom. I love your work. We have an quote of the fortuner (GXL + Premium Interior) a grand cheaper than the quote pajero sport exceed. We might do a bit of towing - horse float etc. What would you choose when there is virtually no price difference? Thank you!

      Just got my fortuner and loving it. For towing, I'd say more grunt is better for you and hence the fort would be your pick. On the flip side, some might say Psport's super select trany would be better for towing as it allows you to drive 4wd hi on tarmac road while the fort can't, on tarmac it's only on 2wd. All the best in choosing you next vehicle.

    It's interesting to see that the creature comfort lists in these ute-based SUVs hasn't changed much from a decade ago. It's mostly connectivity and active safety that has but even then, we own an R51 Nissan Pathfinder that has most of the list from both of these covered in terms of its feature set and beats them both in terms of packaging.
    I watched another review of the MU-X top specification as I had a keen interest in upgrading to one when we eventually want to upgrade but I was amazed that even a 2020 brand spanker that costs $60k on the road didn't have electric and heated front seats, dual zone climate, sunroof, etc and the usable space with all 7 seats in place was abysmal compared to the Pathfinder. I'm guessing with the Isuzu though you're paying more for the reliability of its drivetrain for which the reputation of the Nissan at the time was....not favourable, to put it lightly.
    I do eagerly await the new MU-X though because the new D-Max looks to be a great platform for it. Hopefully Mazda introduces their own version of it based on the BT-50 but I doubt they will.

    • @davgpol
      @davgpol 4 роки тому +2

      The Fortuner is more moddable, has better low down torque, better traction control and is essentially a bit better out of the box offroad than that Pajero Sport. Also the Fortuner can handle the weight of a steel bullbar way better than a PS, even if you upgraded suspension on both and I've driven both BTW. You wouldn't really want to go tyres any bigger than 32" on the Fortuner although some have squeezed in 33's. I expect the PS to be similar, if not worse in that dept. Oh and i found visibility to be better out of the Fortuner to be better also, especially over the bonnet when picking lines.
