Hey Gregory, I am 58 too, check me out buddy and see what 58 on a trike is about. Wish you nothing but the best , go for it, and like Tucker I too dislike the drama, it is not what defines this sport though, just puts a poop colored light on it. cheers Jerry
Might be a bit sketchy though. Not sure what kind of brakes (if any) it has for ground handling, and I doubt anyone else on the road would care to get hit by the prop wash and whatever it kicks up.
@@pauljs75 I would think it would have to have some kind of brakes for landing, but I agree that trying to drive one on the street is probably a bad idea
I look at trikes like motorcycles and trikes. Some people (like myself) that have a hard time landing a trike would help from falling and breaking a leg or arm. Motorcycle riders are thinking the same. Some people can't hold up a big bike anymore and switch to a trike. When it comes down to it who cares your (riding) flying. Enjoy it how ever you can do it
I appreciate your comment that at least you get to fly. I started on PPC at 71, six years ago. I cannot do foot launch or hold my arms up for an hour. It was one of the best decision of my life. Now you will be making it “OK” to fly a trike. Thank you.

I could just imagine a cool video with crazy shit mods, some weapon attachments and maybe some special effects thrown into the clip you got yourself a badass short film like Mad Max but with paramotors.
Highly recommend Trike flying ... yes it can be harder with take off (less forgiving if your not straight into wind ..and you certainly need to have your kiting skills on point .. ) but once in the air the benefits come thick and fast (no jumping in the seat .. no being out of breath after running in nil wind ... and no having to jump out the seat to prepare for landing ) ..you can also land in multi direction as the wheels are easier to run off the speed .. I trained on foot launch .. but moved to trike as I wanted to feel more secure in flight .. glad I did and enjoying the learning .. For all people of any age / physical ability / aptitude .. it’s worth the time if foot flight isn’t your thing . Glad you are showing this as an option tucker 👍👍😎 and glad to see some new potential pilots willing to try something they thought was never within their grasps .. Looking forward to future videos..🪂
I was thinking the same thing in regard to whether a person should get a foot launch or a trike (or a quad). I'd much rather be flying than wishing I was flying. When I trained with TFH at the Salton Sea last March, there were a ton of trikes around. And they certainly have their advantages over foot launch. I think they are pretty sweet rigs, myself.
I love that trike. I foot launch, but I use to fly flex wing trikes. Trikes are just different, not better or worse. Taking 5 gallons of fuel is easier for long xc flights.😃👍
Congrats Tucker. On the day my foot-launched PPG shipped, I broke my foot. I was able to temporarily borrow a trike to mount my Moster to in order to get in the air sooner during the healing process. I know what you mean about steering sensitivity/steerability at higher speeds. Someone recommended I rig some bungee cords to the front wheel chassis to keep both sides in tension. Still easy to steer, but provides some extra dampening at higher speeds. It made a HUGE difference in stability. YMMV, but something to consider playing with if needed. Also, trikes can be EXTREMELY tail heavy when no one is in the seat. It could be very easy to tip on its back and crack a prop or cause other damage if the wing catches some wind during setup while you are out of the seat - something a foot-launcher might not see coming. It's possible your trike could be more stable than mine was, just something to keep in mind while you are getting to know this machine. I'm probably one of the few guys who have broken a prop without the engine running (lesson 1). Which led to lesson 2: how to salvage a cracked e-prop . . .
Excited for your upcoming trike videos! Do reckon you'll love it. I'd say Judson flew the flash AT LEAST half the time he was in the air during my class the 2nd week. I got to ground handle and it's quick and snappy for sure.
I was really about to finally jump on a wing purchase and get started. Then at work a 2,000 pound beam crashed down on me while up in a man lift. After being crushed I fell hard. I broke pretty much EVERYTHING. I came back better than anyone could imagine! Spent a long time watching tucker from a hospital bed. I am about to ride my harley to Phoenix today and do most of my hobbies again. I walk fine but could probably never foot launch. Thank you Tucker for bringing a cool look at this!
I’m a disabled vet and just getting into PPG. Bought my unit with a trike. I don’t think of myself as an old guy, just have limited ability to pack it on my back and foot launch. BTW, is that an old Bonneville under the cover ?
Your insight is spot on. Is it better to sit and a couch and watch other people do it? vs. find a way to get it done even if it requires a trike! This question can pretty much be used for anything. Need to get out and DO it.
You summed up really well what I've been feeling about my Rider for a while. It's nice equipment, but the unorganized feel has its drawbacks. This has been my first year of flying, and I've been having a lot of trouble with my forward launches. Come to find out: in the spaghetti of my harness straps, I had slightly misrouted one of my legstraps; causing a reasonable weight-shift every time I tried to forward. It was no big deal once I was in the air, but on nil wind days it made things almost impossible to launch. While I don't mind how it looks you're right; the disorganization can hide potential problems.
Hey Tucker, Very nice new rig man!!! Trikes are not just for old people, they are for people that want to fly!!! I totally feel you on the amount of straps and buckles, its a lot to keep track of and from what I can tell and from watching your videos you like to master your craft and when a ton of new variables get thrown into the mix, it make your brain kick into overdrive and there is nothing wrong with being cautious and achieving mastery of the craft. I'm sure you will be badassing this thing in no time. Keep up the great work man!! One day ill get me some gear and get in the air.
It sucks getting old. It's good to see that there are still options for old geezers with heel tendinitis like me (can't run fast enough without pain and risking severe injury/detachment), should I ever get the money to try that sport. >Sigh< to be young again!
Watch it Mister! You're walking a fine line here! 2020 is some strange times bro! I would've never thought I would be transitioning to foot launch while Tucker is learning to fly trike. What's next???
Tucker thank you for the great channel. Watching all of these videos are highly motivating and relaxing. So much, that I am training to get into this sport a little later in life...I refuse to say old... I crewed as a Loadmaster on the C-130 Hercules and miss sitting on the ramp in-flight. Fly safe Semper Fi forever.....
Nice new bit of kit Tucker. I agree with you that all the straps and buckles do seem like a distraction. Clean lines and simplicity is desirable I think. Having more of a safety cage is also potentially beneficial. Thanks for posting.
Hey Tucker! That is a super sweet trike buddy, welcome to the dark side hahahaha. Thank-you for not painting us trike flyers in a negative light, I read the title and was like ....naw, Tucker is too classy to do that. Look forward to this new chapter for sure, just as you are joining wheeled flight I am close to joining foot launch, with 40 YEAR OLD MOTOR THOUGH HAHAHA. Cheers and good luck!! Jerry
I guess I have to admit that I’m too old for the foot launched design. I have enough titanium parts, wires, and screws that I could probably build a trike for small frogs. Last November marked 46 years since my first solo in a Cessna 152. I moved up through fixed wing aircraft to a Lear 35. Bored with glass panels, autopilots, and ATC, I soloed a helicopter 22 years ago. I felt like I had rediscovered the joy of flight. Your aviation adventures have rekindled my excitement for something new and exciting. Thank you for introducing a new dream.
Trike Safety: Do you need a bigger reserve parachute for the trike? If so, where are you going to carry it? Are you going to practice deploying it? Also, with all those new straps and wires do you need to go around the trike and tie them down so they don't get sucked into the prop? Do you need to do a safety check like you would on a small plane? Do you need to do flight plans? I would think so because if you have a motor out landing and taking off again might not be as easy...
Awesome Tucker. Always watch your flights and adventures and have for the last few years. So much so, I wanna get into the sport, but I have weak ankles so never thought I could do it. Until now! Thanks for getting the trike. Looking forward to seeing your first/maiden flight. Best wishes George.
@@Jason608 Except that the FAA does has a major limit on the amount of fuel you're allowed to carry. Although I think I saw something about being allowed to carry upto 5 gallons in a bladder.
After three decades of service in our armed forces (USN Ret.), I left with some aches and pains, which will not allow me to strap on a 60-80lbs motor on my back and run 100 yards, but if a trike can make that happen I’d love to experience this paramotor sport (Tucker keep me in mind when your search begins for eager volunteers to fly with you on your new trike). Enjoy your videos, you make paramotoring look like so much fun. ⚓️
I think the fact you can now share your experience easily with others will make the trike a unique addition. cant wait for the random " Hey want to go for a flight " videos.
im in a wheelchair so a trike would be all I could use. I was a privet pilot many years ago and would love to get back up in the air, unless I just strap a motor to my wheelchair or my handcycle..lol
@Tucker Gott, you've helped veterans get into the sport. I am eternally grateful for that because I'm a disabled US Army veteran with bad ankles. I NEED the trike because my days of running are well over. An emotionally painful topic because I won regional champion for cross-country running when I was in high school. I dearly miss the freedom I felt by running, however, you've inspired me to learn all I can about this sport to experience a similar freedom; albeit a different way. So to those that think this is just an "old guy" matter, put yourself into my shoes. I'm sure you'll rethink trikes if you do.
I’ve been flying a trike for over 3 years & I love it. I love coming down for a long taxi & then popping back up in the air. I don’t care what anyone says about trikes, trikes are definitely fun to fly.
I like the Retracta Trike. It’s the bare minimum for a trike stable and even tucks away even more in flight, uses a regular paramotor harness. If need be you can land on your feet with you standing up the trike will dangle around knee height.
Hi, trike user here, I'm only a student with 1 hour flight time. It wasn't my first choice, but the paramotor wasn't good for me due to an old motorcycle incident. I'm happy with this choice, it was a great experience.
Yeah that’s what I wanted to ask. I think I see an El Camino hiding under one of the covers, and I’m dying to see what that older pickup is. Looks like it might have wood bedsides? Also maybe something interesting from the 30’s or early 40’s way in the back? Or maybe I’m so far off I should be embarrassed. Either way, looks like a nice collection whatever they are. You show me your families’ car collection I’ll show you mine?
Tucker, I'm excited that you are going to do the trike. I'm wanting to do this and have breathing issues at the age of 76 and so a trike is a must for me. How fast were you going when you were on the highway - at the 9:55 mark? Seems to be at least 30 MPH?
So... Foot Launches Are Only 1%... Of A Pure Launch/ Flight... 1% Is So Very Miniscule... The Trike Rep! Is A Bad Rep! For Something That Keeps Your Entire Body Safe And Outta Harms Way! Go Trikers! 😉👍
Happy to see your trying the trike thing, im looking into it as well, not sure i like the look of that setup for the reasons you stated, Foot launch tandems look awkward i think trikes are the way to go for that, never wanted to take tandems skydiving either, looking forward to your next videos, thanks :)
Hey Tucker I wondered if you ever had any experience flying kites. I've recently got the kite bug and have been flying both framed and foil two line kites. Seems like sport kiting would be good entry to paramotor or para gliding. A windy day like you're having two can be filled with fun with kites.
I was in a car accident 4 years ago and injured my hip, knee, and ankle. It randomly hurts sometimes, so I don't know if I'd be able to fly a paramotor without a trike. A trike does seem better than I thought and I'd love to be able to do tandem flights
Thanks for your comments about the trike stigma. I've been hesitant to jump into the sport because of a concern about my aged knees, add to that the thought that I don't want to be the lame old guy on the trike. I think I just need to get over myself and go freaking fly!!! I look forward to your first flights and comment flying the trike. Thanks, Tucker!
I can strongly recommend the single seat FOXY Trike from Fly products. During the flight, you ve the same feeling like on a food lounge paramotor as no straps are hanging around.
FINALLY!! I love my wheels! More and more younger guys are getting trikes and quads because we make it look so easy. I do agree on having to disassemble. I never disassemble my quad. It fits perfectly in my 6'x10' cargo trailer with plenty of cargo space to spare. I am 100% self taught and was in the air on my very first attempt. My bucket seat is so comfy its like flying a recliner!! #ppgadventures
You could color/paint all of the mount points for their configuration use. That way you know you can ignore all the blue bits when flying solo etc.. Might be less overwhelming
Fixed wing pilot here, cannot imagine taxiing something with tricycle gear very fast without the passive aerodynamic stabilization! That trike looks scary but also really fun! Lol
That’s why I went with the PPC. The landing gear just isn’t what it used to be. Give it another 35 years, & you’ll most likely be in the same rankings.
Most any "lod" (me 64, 2+yrs now ppg) would have already explained how the trike or quad can go way faster on the ground than in the air. Most do no have brakes and get skittish pretty quick when driven. Personally I found the A assist required pretty straight in to the wind for launch. I removed mine and went to manual. Though Tucker inspired me it wasn't to "fly" like him. My fly is cross country and if I could make it fly slower I probably would. I can treetop and fly low like I did for 40 years in my hot air balloon. I don't need a crew and can return to my start point. I do like to pull a tight turn and fell my butt pushed down in the seat but mostly just love the vantage and cruise. It's all about what you want from it. Wheels work for me!
Oh man, not being able to see this thing in action yet is verging on painful. I can only imagine how it must feel to have this thing sitting in your shop, waiting for the weather so you can use it for the first time.
Lookin good. That pallet was so light the driver and you could have carried it to your garage. LOL ... It will be great to see the flight differences between the Moster and the Cosmos, once you get it. I hope you set up a couple Benchmarks to do comparision tests. Very cool 👍😎👍
Huge shoutout to Tucker. I’m a lame old dude. Been watching your videos and I’m thinking about a quad for myself. Question: why is there no steering wheel on a trike or quad? After watching this video I noticed you had a hard time steering. Any comments?
How much "people weight" will a tandem trike fly with.....like what is the total max weight limit two people can add up to and still get off the ground.?And what are the other weight limits for say solo trike and solo regular running start based on CC's and wing type?
I am 60 and a year ago I went from footlaunch on a Maverick to a Fly Products Rider and Foxy trike. Still has a lot of weight shift and the trike only weighs 9kg. Had a Flash Cruiser but sold it as here in the UK we are not allowed to fly tandem trike, only tandem footlaunch. Silly rule as a tandem trike launch would probably be safer but hey this is the UK :(
For a couple years I thought about getting into PPG and just before pulling the trigger to get the gear and sign up for lessons, I got diagnosed with cancer. It’s now two years later and my wife and I saw a trike in the air early in the week near Dansville, NY and I thought I could do that. I have a stoma and permanent colostomy bag that would hinder the harness of foot launch riggings; I wonder if the harness of a trike/quad could be worked out to allow me to experience the sport?

Just think about all the camping gear and extra fuel you can carry now.
Long distance expeditions!
That would be so cool!
150 lbs of fuel in the front seat! YESSSSSS!
@@Jason608 Except that the FAA does has a major limit on the amount of fuel you're allowed to carry. Although I think I saw something about being allowed to carry upto 5 gallons in a bladder.
11:59 The more simpler it can be the better, because there are less things that can go wrong.
⚓️
@5:51 That's strange, safety first. We'll go ahead and skip that.
LOL, you're killing me smalls!
0:21 “The Cats are so Excited”
Once again Thank You,May you have a Blessed you Tucker
I got that same shirt bro. Love it, really good quality. The trike looks so cool
I think the fact you can now share your experience easily with others will make the trike a unique addition. cant wait for the random " Hey want to go for a flight " videos.
Looking forward to the next vid. You rock :)
im in a wheelchair so a trike would be all I could use. I was a privet pilot many years ago and would love to get back up in the air, unless I just strap a motor to my wheelchair or my handcycle..lol
LOL `strap a motor to my wheelchair` Gets the imagination moving :)
I just started flying last year at 60. Tucker got me fired up on it but I went for a trike to make it easier
I’ve been flying a trike for over 3 years & I love it. I love coming down for a long taxi & then popping back up in the air. I don’t care what anyone says about trikes, trikes are definitely fun to fly.
I think that looks pretty cool, myself. I am so invested in this....I can't wait to see you fly it and then starting tandems. So cool!
That thumbnail....😃😃 priceless. Love your videos no matter the content.
Can we get a tour of those cars in the background?
Yeah that’s what I wanted to ask. I think I see an El Camino hiding under one of the covers, and I’m dying to see what that older pickup is. Looks like it might have wood bedsides? Also maybe something interesting from the 30’s or early 40’s way in the back? Or maybe I’m so far off I should be embarrassed. Either way, looks like a nice collection whatever they are. You show me your families’ car collection I’ll show you mine?
I really want to know what’s hiding under there too!
Best go cart/Trike ever!
Go Trikers! 😉👍
10:05. . Did the trike start to roll a bit from torque at that point?
Tucker! Message me for a tandem test drive on the 140 CM prop. I'm an hour-ish away from you. I qualify as a "random" person.
"These are not tears of joy, these are allergies"
the driving on the street was crazy
Great Video Tucker... from an OLD, Disabled Guy dreaming of flying one day! Looking forward to the next Video on this Trike! 😎👍
Happy to see your trying the trike thing, im looking into it as well, not sure i like the look of that setup for the reasons you stated, Foot launch tandems look awkward i think trikes are the way to go for that, never wanted to take tandems skydiving either, looking forward to your next videos, thanks :)
5:25 Jaclyn filling the role the cats normally play.
Next Video, Going through a McDonald drive-through on a tandem Trike !!
Till some idiot tries to kick the "trunk"-- call Mr Fox- cleanup on isle one.
I foot launch and have a trike. I enjoy both. The best is when I takeoff and land on my trike it is like a plane and touch and gos are a blast.
0:23 “The cats are relating excited”
The cats: 👁 👄 👁
Can’t wait to see you get to fly the trike! That thing looks like it’s gonna be a lot of fun.
Hey Tucker I wondered if you ever had any experience flying kites. I've recently got the kite bug and have been flying both framed and foil two line kites. Seems like sport kiting would be good entry to paramotor or para gliding. A windy day like you're having two can be filled with fun with kites.
Or you could put a tray for chick-fil-a or McDonald’s.
I was in a car accident 4 years ago and injured my hip, knee, and ankle. It randomly hurts sometimes, so I don't know if I'd be able to fly a paramotor without a trike. A trike does seem better than I thought and I'd love to be able to do tandem flights
Feels bad to hear man, I hope it will get better soon. Goodluck!
Tucker, do you have your part 103 exemption that allows you to take passengers?
I do! Check my previous tandem videos.
@@TuckerGott Awesome. Thanks for the clarification. I'll check other previous videos later.
Can't wait to see you fly that thing looks awesome..
"Ship me somewhere warm" 😂
Fall in NJ is really happening this year, I'm bustin out the hoodies and allergy meds already
I've been away from Tuckers vids for a few months and his garage turned into a giant pole barn with a fully stocked Barrett-Jackson car collection !
Tucker is there a brake pedal on yours, I know there is one on Fly products Vertigo trike.
Nope, no brakes on this one!
Hi Tucker, does the trike have a reservr chute as well? Just wondering. Thanks! Happy Flying.
Hey Tucker. I have a question about PPG abroad. Would you be able to fly in Canada or Mexico? What about in Europe if you rent equipment.
I like how she carries it with one hand and he uses two.. She's a beast.. LoL.... Seriously awesome.. can't wait to see first flight.. Safe flying :D
Ha! Jaclyn....”Send me somewhere warm”
Looking forward to the flight videos. Curious to see how the trike handles turbulence vs a foot launch paramotor.
Huge shoutout to Tucker. I’m a lame old dude. Been watching your videos and I’m thinking about a quad for myself. Question: why is there no steering wheel on a trike or quad? After watching this video I noticed you had a hard time steering. Any comments?
No steering wheel because you need your hands for the wing and engine controls, on the ground the trike steers with your feet.
How much "people weight" will a tandem trike fly with.....like what is the total max weight limit two people can add up to and still get off the ground.?And what are the other weight limits for say solo trike and solo regular running start based on CC's and wing type?
Looking forward to next Video Tucker
I am 60 and a year ago I went from footlaunch on a Maverick to a Fly Products Rider and Foxy trike. Still has a lot of weight shift and the trike only weighs 9kg. Had a Flash Cruiser but sold it as here in the UK we are not allowed to fly tandem trike, only tandem footlaunch. Silly rule as a tandem trike launch would probably be safer but hey this is the UK :(
The funniest thing is that it's not only the cats that like playing with boxes - (probably) Jaclyn does too!
