I really love your tutorials and have notifications activated to ensure that I never miss one. You have a unique gift of easily overcoming potentially troublesome issues. May I ask one big favour please? Any chance you could wind down the rock music in between narration, don’t get me wrong I am a fan but I do find it just a little too intrusive. I realise I’m probably in the minority, just saying as I don’t think it needs to be that loud. Cheers.
Was thinking about this the other day. *not only does my phone listen to me it gets in my brain 🤷♂️ We used to put these rigs in kitchen cabinets for big mixers to pop up to counter height.
Man, you just made my life a living hell hahaha I have been designing my fliptop cupboard for the last 2 weeks and now I come across your great video and it has told my design to get lost hahaha A video really well done and the project is amazing, thanks mate! Also, I went to look at your channel and saw you have a few videos only. Judging by the excellent work you have made, like the table for your mitre saw, you should make more videos... Your craftsmanship is great, mate!
Like the design, very well thought out. Was reading through the comments and it seems like people forget that you took the time to make it, explain it and show ste by step how to build it. Some people rather sh!t all over something complaining about music etc rather than thanking you for sharing your idea. Thanks fo sharing!
60 yr old guy here, just starting to build out my workshop, and I really wish you were my next door neighbor ! (lol_) I really like this idea a lot. BTW, most of my tools that I have been buying have been Wen tools and I'm really happy with them. Cheers !
Thanks very much for this! I am building an island in our kitchen. I’m going to use this idea to make a lift for the wife’s food processor. I think she will love it. 🤓
Might not be what I want for a sander base, but I'm totally gonna use this idea for my router table under my work table. Thank you for this wonderful idea!!
Finally got around to building this and saw your comment. I have enough room to add a router table drawer above my spindle sander and store the router in the drawer below. Win win!!
I am currently working on my own rendition of a mobile workbench station and was looking for ideas for the bandsaw, planer, drill press, and router table to all tuck under to leave a clean workspace for assembly. This is a really clean idea and I’ll be using this in customer sizes for all the tools. Thank you for making it.
I really love this. Just what I was looking for without knowing I was looking for it. Believe it or not, not only well this solve a similar issue in my growing yet small shop, but provides an idea for some costume cabinets my wife wants me to build. Very professional tutorial for a great design.
Holy crap. What a great solution. I use a wheelchair in my small (garage) shop and have been struggling with coming up with a flip-cart design that would accommodate my sander (I have the Bauer (Harbor Freight) branded version of the same sander) as well as my DW735 thickness planer since space is at a premium. At my height, getting enough flip-clearance and not end up with the sander table too high is difficult. I spent the last two days making a cart with the DW735 on top and the sander on this type of lift and the result is fantastic. It puts the sander table at just the right height (essentially my slide out drawer is just a flat tray with sides - no riser necessary) and stows away easily under the planer when I don't need it. The only drawback is that I don't have much clearance behind the sander with the planer there, but I've never needed that really and with the weight of the planer I can pull the drawer out a bit to offer more clearance if the occasion does present itself even though the whole thing is on a rolling cart. Thanks for this idea!
That’s a great idea. Have a mobile cart with your planer on top and this sander below it. I wonder if somehow you could fit 2 tools below the planer. They could each come out on the sides so it wouldn’t block the planer from being used.
Was just contemplating adding a Kreg Foreman to my shop one day, and realized I absolutely have no more room. And then I stumble on to your video. Perfect solution to my problem. Thanks so much. I am saving the video so I can do this if my cornhole board making really takes off and I need the upgrade. Thanks. Liked AND subscribed
Thank you. It took a bit of "I have no idea what I'm doing engineering" and multiple watches and re-watches of the video and first time installing drawer slides. This allowed me to utilize some wasted space under the vice on my work bench.
I was going to build a flip-top for my spindle sander and belt sander. I have VERY limited space and having a flip-top would free up some of that space but this concept is much better. I can have 2 or 3 bench top machines lined up along the wall and with this "flip-up" idea I wont have to drag the flip-top out to access them. And that also gives me much more, valuable, work bench space. Thank you! Glad I found this.
Thanks for a great idea. I have a Blackstone 22" griddle on a pullout in my outdoor kitchen. The only complaint I have is that it is lower than my counter height. I am going to re design the pullout and incorporate your lift system to bring it to above the counter, a better height for grilling. I will write back with the results. Cheers
Love the design. You are missing the reason why they made flip tops. Storage of multiple units. You have a thickness planer on the other side of the sander, so what are you going to do with your planer?
I built my first flip top stand like the one you have shown and I always wondered why more people didn't build this type of stand just for the reason you showed with everything fall off. I built my 1st one 40 yrs ago and all of the ones I built are still in use and going strong. congrads you have the right idea.👍
Chris, This a great idea, my friend. I still need some of the flip carts as well. My cabinets will have drawers mostly, so real estate will be already used up. You did save me a lot of time I'm the design portion of your solution. Thanks for sharing. Feli
I learned to do this when I started out in a cabinet shop, and use it as often as possible. Faster and more accurate than marking and measuring (too easy to introduce error when repeating), its a win/win!
Just found this video. I love this idea. I am in the process of completely building my own shop. I am trying to map out flow. I have been looking at making flip carts, but this idea makes me rethink that. Great job. Thanks.
Great design and build!! I'm getting ready to build a new miter saw station that will be 12' long. I'm going to incorporate this design into it for my Rigid sander. Thanks for posting the great video!
Have followed with great interest your "under the workbench" project and must state = for stationary, fixed (large / long) workbenches with sufficient free space under the work surface, your idea / implementation is certainly a gain, absolutely! BUT - if you have to get along with little space, stow machines and move in the room, the flip-top cabinet also has its justification. You just have to adjust the proportions, if necessary implement a handle for more safety, the larger machines you attach to the turntable and you just have to be careful when changing the tools / turn the work surface. In any case, I would not use the statement "THIS is ...". Conclusion: It is a pleasure to watch you implement your projects, have already taken one or the other suggestion, thank you for that! Please keep up the good work!
Just bought this sander last night, coming tomorrow. I think I’m going to do this!!! Might look into drill press and band saw. I’ve got a workbench with a bunch of openings for drawers that I can make into openings for this
I was considering a flip top, but this looks like a better solution. I'm going to build the same thing. but also add some sort of lock for when its up. Thanks
Nice build. I made a flip-top stand for my planer/sander, but incorporated a drawer in the base. I keep my accessories in ziplock bags inside the drawer so nothing gets lost. Yes, I can’t use the storage built into the sander, but I don’t have the floor or workbench space to spare. Just an alternative suggestion for those with the same issue.
Thank you. I thought of doing one for a scroll saw that had slightly shorter front legs so it sat at a slight angle. Maybe it could be adjustable so if you wanted it to sit level.
Great idea! I might to do this for the router table I bought from KN Designs and my DeWalt planer. It would save space for sure. The planer is quite a bit heavier so it may need to be on top (mobile stand) but ensuring I have adequate work space for the router table would need to be considered as well.
Great job and fantastic idea! I just started building a base cabinet to store my bench tools in and to have a work surface to use them on. I've looked at flip tops, ceiling tracks with pulley or winch lifts, and even lifts similar to yours. I finally gave up and decided to keep it simple by placing to tools on pull out trays and just lifting them manually onto the bench. Your idea is by far the best I've seen, and I'm so glad I stumbled upon your video. I'm sure this application will work great for at least some of my tools if not all. Thank you so much!
I love this idea! Im thinking of ways to adapt it to kitchen appliances that don’t live on the counter, like a waffle maker, crockpot, blender, etc. I wonder if it could be incorporated into a 270 degree corner carousel shelf? I’ve got a lot of wasted space in a small kitchen
I have been looking for a solution like this for over 2 years. So glad this video showed up in my recommended feed today! Awesome job man, this made me a subscriber.
Great idea! I have the same WEN sander in a small cluttered shop have been looking for a place to accommodate it. I'll definitely be building this system. Thanks for sharing!
Great solution. Stops stuff going everywhere unlike a flip out or revolving tool stand. For the drawer under my table saw stand, I angled the drawer slides up a bit to make it self closing. Might work here to keep the sander against the bench.
Thanks for all the trouble you went to, to fully explain your build, I’ve been trying to come up with a method to mount mr RIDGID sander for years, and this is perfect! Now if you could only come up with a way to widen my 12 foot shop, to say 16 foot... that would be great!
I've been considering a flip top for quite a awhile, but this seems to be a better solution, and simpler to make also. Thanks for a very clear and understandable video.
This is the exact solution I’ve been looking for for my spindle sander. Great tutorial and also one of the clearest descriptions of how to fit the drawers that I’ve seen. You can stop the drawers moving by adding spring loaded stopper pins. Subscribed! I’m now hoping you have a solution to lower my planer thicknesser DOWN from the worktop to a more useable level.
I like it I’ll be building a 10x12 wood shop this coming spring so I’m looking for all the ideas for room for the many tools that I have . Great job on the video it’s easy to follow 😊
DUDE! That is an awesome build and I'm going to do that for my shop. This is brilliant for things that aren't used often or need to be out of the way, especially if you're going to use a planer because you need an outfeed table and a flip cart just won't work unless you sacrifice one side of the flippy bit by leaving it bare. This way, more outfeed table than I'll ever likely need, plus being able to mount my sander/grinder/bench top drill press that can come up to working height in seconds. Absolutely brilliant. One thing I didn't see was a locking mechanism so the thing doesn't fold down again. Easy enough to work out, but does it even need one? Appears to me that the risers are at such an angle when fully open that you would actually have to push it back for it to collapse. Am I correct in what I'm seeing? If so, has there ever been a time where it got pushed back so that it collapsed? I mean, while you shouldn't be forcing or pressing hard because the machine is supposed to do the work (if you want to do the work, use planers and other hand tools), is there a possibility that a collapse could happen having used this system? The reason I ask is that I volunteer in a hobby woodshop and things have been pressed too hard against/or otherwise abused to the point where we have to check square EVERY time ... Jointer fence not square, bandsaw blade not square to the deck, etc. I just want to know that it's stable in the event that I get frustrated or in a bit of a hurry and press the piece against a tool too hard. I'd be sad if the tool suddenly collapsed down to it's resting position (this will be for my home shop). BTW, this is one of the best tutorial videos out there. Why? Because you don't just give dimensions ... you THINK. Not every one of these is going to be the same, so you teach how to determine what an individual machine needs and how to measure and that is, in my opinion (because I make a lot of stuff up on the fly), a mark of a master woodworker. Okay, so "master" may be defined by some by the end product, and while that's part of it, to me, a "master" is someone who can fly by the seat of their pants and get the job done, changing dimensions for some "oops" cuts, moving things and recalculating because the plans are terrible, and it all working out beautifully in the end, even if that "beauty" is functionality. Well done, you! And thank you for posting. Subscribing.
Thank you so much. You could probably add a lock. As long as I am pushing forward, there’s no way of it coming down. If I use one of the spindle attachments or push on the back side of the belt, it can slowly push away from the bench top. A simple hook or something would prevent that.
Flip tops kind of scare me, so I find your solution worth considering for tools like my bench grinder, metal band saw and 18 inch band sander. Thanks for sharing!
Great idea and great video! I’ve seen others but this is well-designed and well-presented. Definitely the one I’ll be building for a couple of my tools! Thanks for a great vid!!
Very nice and clear explanation to what you were doing. I have been concerned about a flip-cart and attachments / tool storage, that is why I hadn't made one yet. Love your idea. I think I can put my drum sander and jig saw side by side on the end of my bench. thanks again, and yes I'm a new subscriber now. 🙂
You sir knocked it out of the park TWICE on this! I have been looking for a solution for my outfeed/assembly table. This just changed my plans for a spindle sander, planer, and whatever else I can cram under my outfeed table. Thank you for the detailed instructions! You got yourself a new subscriber. I see you have a Wen drill press... which one? do you like it? I'm just a hobbyist not a production shop--I've been going back on forth on the Wen... Thoughts? and to be absolutely clear--THANK YOU!!!
I love this. I’m 71 and my delta planer is getting too heavy to move from a shelf to my work bench. I think this will go on the assembly / outfeed table. I’m thinking a small small lift strut can make this a one hand lift to match the outfeed table. Great video. My brain is clicking on how to apply it.
Great design & execution. Love how simple you made installing double drawer slides. Did you try with single pair? Any racking/deflection? Should have managed weight ok?
Just came across your channel. This was great. I was trying to come up with an idea for some of my equipment. This is awesome. I also like your straight forward instruction. Great work.
I really love your tutorials and have notifications activated to ensure that I never miss one. You have a unique gift of easily overcoming potentially troublesome issues. A toggle latch or 2 would be great to lock that to the bench. I love this video you explained those arms really well
Great idea, have same wynn sander and was looking for a storage solution, I like this wouldn't have plans would you?
Nice job....
Like the design, very well thought out. Was reading through the comments and it seems like people forget that you took the time to make it, explain it and show ste by step how to build it. I liked the music, I had to rewind a couple of times because I missed stuff while vibing lol
hi.
thanks for this, I am planning to build a similar drawer for my table saw. Nice to see someone has gone down this road already
A very clever device. BTW, among all the makers I watch on UA-cam you earn the gold medal for being the most meticulous. Congratulations!
I really appreciate it 🙏
Yep going to build two of these. One for my planner and sander
60 yr old guy here, just starting to build out my workshop, and I really wish you were my next door neighbor ! (lol_) I really like this idea a lot. BTW, most of my tools that I have been buying have been Wen tools and I'm really happy with them. Cheers !

very well done , i was wondering what to do with my oscillating sander, now i do. thanks great job.
Thank you
Thanks!
Thank you 🙏
YES!!! This is the solution I've been trying to come up with for the last year. Thank you!
Awesome! Thank you!
This is well thought out and nicely done.
This is brilliant, takes up less shop floor space and is very functional.
Thank you 🙏
very well-done video, clear without all the extra "when i was 5 years old back story." I am definitely going to check out more of your videos
I was going to build a flip top, but I like your set up better. Thanks for the idea. Great video.

wow what a space saver. Great idea for a small shop, much better than a flip cart.
You showed us exactly why we measure twice! A very nice shop feature that I’m likely to copy.
Slick build. I am impressed how simple the setup is and how flexible it is with the cabinet/table type.
Thank you
Gotta say, one of the best tutorials I have seen. I have been looking to do something like this for a couple years and now I can build it. Thank You
Thank you so much
Thanks for a great idea.
This could be built into a cart if you wanted. Put the planer on top and have this underneath. That way both tools can be used.
Feli
Thank you so much 🙏
I love your use of spacers to save time measuring throughout the whole video. Good build, thanks for taking the time to make this!
Thank you 🙏
I learned to do this when I started out in a cabinet shop, and use it as often as possible. Faster and more accurate than marking and measuring (too easy to introduce error when repeating), its a win/win!
Just found this video. I love this idea. I am in the process of completely building my own shop. I am trying to map out flow. I have been looking at making flip carts, but this idea makes me rethink that. Great job. Thanks.
Great video Chris and a useful shop storage solution! Really appreciate how you explained what you were doing and why. 👍👍👍
Thanks, I really appreciate it.
I will be adding this design to my workbench. Thank you so much, I really like it.
This is the :perfect: solution for my setup. Thank you!
Awesome!
Great design and build!! I'm getting ready to build a new miter saw station that will be 12' long. I'm going to incorporate this design into it for my Rigid sander. Thanks for posting the great video!
Thank You. I was looking for a way to move a few tools to under my bench. Thanks again for a great video.
I’ve got a workbench with a bunch of openings for drawers that I can make into openings for this
I was gunna try the drill press, but decided it was a little heavy for this. Might need some redesigning to make it work better.
A great idea. Trying to maximize my space. This will help a lot. Thanks.
Wonderful way to store these tools. Thank you for sharing. Everyone stay safe, happy and healthy. From Henrico County Virginia
I was considering a flip top, but this looks like a better solution. I'm going to build the same thing. but also add some sort of lock for when its up. Thanks
Very clever solution to make the most of your space.
Great job! Love build videos that are clear and to the point. One of the best I have seen in months.
Thank you 🙏
Thanks
A great solution!!! I can see this potentially clearing my scroll saw of the bench surface(great tool but not in ‘everyday’ use) thanks for sharing👍🏼
Thank you. I thought of doing one for a scroll saw that had slightly shorter front legs so it sat at a slight angle. Maybe it could be adjustable so if you wanted it to sit level.
This is just what I was looking for I'm building an addition to my shop
Great idea! I might to do this for the router table I bought from KN Designs and my DeWalt planer. It would save space for sure. The planer is quite a bit heavier so it may need to be on top (mobile stand) but ensuring I have adequate work space for the router table would need to be considered as well.

This would be a great idea for the planer as well… great idea!
Good idea, never liked the flip top but they save space. This is a better solution for me.
Thank you
Love it. Great idea. I may steal this idea but use a premade small appliance lift.
I have one in my kitchen. This setup is better for a sander IMO.
I have been looking for a solution like this for over 2 years. So glad this video showed up in my recommended feed today! Awesome job man, this made me a subscriber.
Same!
Great editing and presentation on this cool build! 👍👍👍👍
Thank you 🙏

That’s a good idea. Thanks.
Was looking for a solution for my wen 6” benchtop jointer! This will be perfect
This is great, I was looking for an out of the box way of tucking away my tools in my workstation!!!
Thank you!
That's a great alternative for tool storage. Great job with your video.
Thanks
Best idea I've seen in a long time! Thanks.

Great work!
Cool! Thank you!
I've been considering a flip top for quite a awhile, but this seems to be a better solution, and simpler to make also. Thanks for a very clear and understandable video.
Thanks!
New to woodworking and this was exactly what I need to do in my small shop! Excellent video and great explanation!
Thank you
I might do something like this in my kitchen to hide the mixer when not in use. Thanks SO much. Great idea. I appreciate it👍❣️❣️❣️
This is the exact solution I’ve been looking for for my spindle sander.
Thank you. I need to come up with something by for that.
Thank you! Perfect for my new bench top planer. Should fit perfectly under my miter saw.
Great idea & plan! Wish I could use it in my shop but maybe in the future
that's soooooo cool! And what a great idea and easy to recreate. Thanks for the detailed instruction!
Thank you
I like it I’ll be building a 10x12 wood shop this coming spring so I’m looking for all the ideas for room for the many tools that I have . Great job on the video it’s easy to follow 😊
Thank you
Great idea. Will work for my router table

So simple yet so effective and useful. Great build!
Thank you 🙏
great video with good explanation, i did this a couple of years ago for my belt sander, works a treat 👍👍
Thanks
Thanks for the video and all the detailed instructions. This is a great idea.
Thank you
As an aspiring woodworking, your video spoke to my soul. Thanks ~ ☕️ on me
Thank you 🙏
Flip tops kind of scare me, so I find your solution worth considering for tools like my bench grinder, metal band saw and 18 inch band sander. Thanks for sharing!
Great idea and great video! I’ve seen others but this is well-designed and well-presented. Definitely the one I’ll be building for a couple of my tools! Thanks for a great vid!!
Thank you 🙏
That is a REALLY cool design! Make me rethink things in my shop re-build that's currently going on. Thanks!
I approve of your choice of tool brand.
I’ve had good luck with most of their products.
That sounds like a good idea. Thank you 🙏
Seems like it'd be pretty easy to put a second hole in one of the arms for a pin of some sort, if you wanted to stop it movin. Great video 👍 👍
Thank you
I love it! I hope you share more woodworking ideas...im building my shop right now and this is definitely going in it!!
Awesome. Thank you 🙏
I love this.
And yeah I clicked the like button.
Cool thank you 🙏
Great video! Folding doorstop may work Well on the front of the drawer to keep from sliding forward.
Thanks. I’ll check that out.
Great design & execution. Love how simple you made installing double drawer slides. Did you try with single pair? Any racking/deflection? Should have managed weight ok?
Thanks. I just went with the double slides. No racking. Yea it should be fine.
What a great idea dude! May try this for my shop, cheers 🤙🏻
Thanks! Cheers!
This was exactly what I was looking for, literally for my sanding unit!! Great video and easy to follow. Thanks man!
Just came across your channel. This was great. I was trying to come up with an idea for some of my equipment. This is awesome. I also like your straight forward instruction. Great work.
Thank you.
Loved the way you explained everything!
Keep going man!
Hands down a better alternative to a flip top horror show. Thank you so much for sharing.
Thank you 🙏
Good job mate, much better than the flip top! Thanks for sharing
Thank you
Great idea and great execution! Keep up the good work.
Thank you!
I've also been wanting to do something similar! Thank you for sharing!!
Thanks!
I subscribed as well! I can see your page blowing up quickly with your ingenuity.
