Cols, I'm riding Trek Top Fuel 9.7 with Fox Rhythm 34 120, coming from factory. Thinking of changing it for new SID and deciding if to chose Ultimate or Select from 2024 lineup. Im not attending any races, just riding trails and majority of time in dry and "kind of XC" conditions (forests, gravel, etc). Considering weight is not a priority, which would you choose ?
Personally I am good with open and shut, when you hammering it and you’ve got dropper, post gears and the lockout to challenge your cognitive load, having a third option on the LO remote seems overkill but thats me. I wish ergon would make an ergonomic grip end to go with the twist lock thing. Seems a no brainer
It would be interesting to know if there is any difference between the Spark traction mode and the new SID pedal mode. I know that the Scott edition drops travel to 80mm and raises the rear slightly.
No bushing play so far, we'll be keeping an eye on them along with all the bikes that come along with the new SID fitted. In fairness, the SID SL didn't seem to have the same issues as the 35mm SID
The lock-out from my SID Select+ 2021 needed this year 3 repairs. According to the review this issue should be fixed in the 2024 version with a new seal head. Will Rockshox fix the 2021 models with this new sealhead if customers apply warranty for their forks?
If that is the only drawback...you need to get some rubbing alcohol for cleaning the rotors and fitting the grips. It is so easy and it is worrying that experienced riders see this as a drawback. No sag marks on the stanchion is not mentioned.
What is the difference between this and basic low-speed compression settings on any old fork? 1:46 I already increase compression on my budget fork when I want to pedal hard. I am not suggesting my budget fork is anywhere as good as a SID, but I'm suggesting that the aforementioned feature is nothing new.
I'm curious if this three positions are push-to-lock or push-to-unlock? Can I control it with the squid lock of my Orbea bike? (three positions, push-to-unlock)? If yes, it might be an alluring update of my Fox fork.
@bikeradar ok, thanks. But if I change both the fork and the shock with the sram ones, it should work, right? Basically turning the whole system from push to unlock to push to lock.
Which fork would you pick, SID or SID SL?
FOX
Fox 34 Step Cast
Rockshox 💩 on Fox all day long💯
SID SL.

Just hope they fixed the 'factory option' for the bushing play
It was an 'option'?
No issues so far, and Tom seemed to have a good run with his 2020 SID fork, it was close to 2 years old before he got play in his fork.
Less than 2 years is not a good run for a high end fork. Are we being conditioned to expect less and less from our components.

my scott spark rc's sid select already has the open/pedal/close

And it works great! Have a Scott RC Super Sonic frameset. Traction control is great when climbing.
Now comes with the new 2023 version of integrated “bushing play “ suppelness?

Good question and honestly, we're not sure as the new seal head would require the new damper as well, so who knows!
Worth asking SRAM though!

Great review Gents.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
what if you dont like the twist lock? whats the other option of the remote?
Robin Weaver sounds an awful lot like Roy Kent. Great riding!
Rob shreds! 🤘

Is there a lever option instead of the Grip Shift style????

It's the opposite of Fox, so it's push to lock, so wouldn't work with Squidlock for Fox

is the 110mm SL a noodle?
The new one is significantly heavier (50g)
We did measure it lighter!
"significantly heavier" 🤣
@@bikeradar sid sl ultimate 2024 vs 2021
I hope "Downcountry" dies asap
Tom will singlehandedly ensure that never happens 😂 #downcountry4lyfe
nope..it's a perfect category for many of us
