  • I was a fan boy of the current RockShox SID Ultimate, but this all new fork is genuinely next level in terms of hardcore trail control at an XC weight. I'll talk you through the changes and then hit the trails to to show how well they work.

    GuyKes - I would love to see some longer video, describing the whole, every single improvement in the industry that made you most appreciate engineering and the progress the bikes - in general - had made? That would be some nice summary, but probably difficult to create. I mean, due to yours long experience some kind of 'general discussion' of 'how far we came' - would be nice 'eye opener' and would make more of us appreciate what we have. For example, how do You feel, beeing able to ride acustic bike that is full-sus and lighter than 11.9kg, and is less complicated to manage due to geometry or rolls better thanks to 29" wheels .... how is it? How do you experience bikes that 20 years ago would be impossible to build? Just curious!

    @GuyKesTV Could you make a video comparison of the latest Pike and ‘24 SID? Which is better for which bike with 120mm travel (Top Fuel, Spark, F-podium etc.)?

    Thanks for the amazing review. I had a doubt the 120mm Cervelo ZFS-5 frameset as it uses a 190x45 rear shox, do you know which is the exact SRAM reference of the SIDLuxe Ultimate 3P that will work on this frameset? And also what is the latest and best Twistlock for the combo setup? (Front fork SID Ultime 3R)?

    This is the best review of this new fork. Thank you. I have a 2022 Specialized Epic Evo comp with a rear shock and front fork that badly need serviced. I think I'll just upgrade to these new RockShox models. Will I need to get a specially tuned rear shock to match my Epic Evo or will this new SID LUXE with a medium tune work fine?

    • @GuyKesTV

    I've been a big fan of the 120/120mm travel Downcountry bike with a lightweight XC fork since the Transition Spur came out. However, I've been wondering if maybe 120/140mm travel Downcountry bike with a 140mm Fox 34 (Grip 2 damper) might just be better. Of course, the 140mm fork is going to weigh about a pound more but maybe the extra 20mm of travel and the better quality of travel might be worth the extra weight. Any thoughts?

    What are buttercups like? I got an old Pike RCT3 for like 100 pounds and after the Debonair spring upgrade I'm honestly left questioning how they can make a fork better than it haha! Do the 'cups remove buzz from gravel and other stuff that normally doesn't make the fork compress at all normally? Or is it more just improving regular small bump sensitivity?

    • @GuyKesTV
      @GuyKesTV  Рік тому +1

      The SIDs don’t have buttercups but TBH I don’t think they really make much difference. There are certainly other issues with stiction that overshadow them on a lot of the latest generation forks. In other words for Pike and Lyrik I’d stick with older versions for now 👍🏻

    Which foam grips work nicely with the new twistloc? Do ESI Racers Edge work okay?

    • @GuyKesTV
      @GuyKesTV  9 місяців тому +1

      SRAM do their ‘own’ (they look very like ESI) but most should work OK as long as the external diameters aren’t too different. A plastic washer between grip and twister stops them rubbing if they creep together too. I’ve been running the Ergon foam grips recently but they come apart really fast if you grip them hard on techy descents and climbs.
