misconception: the 4090 is utilized more than 1%. Probably around 40-60%. But the CPU bottlenecks it 99% of the tiime, meaning it always takes longer for the cpu to calculate each frames input, physics, ... than for the gpu to render the frame

Good video! I’m curious as to why you didn’t run the test in the native resolution since the bottleneck is so large with the 4090. Would this alleviate some of the bottleneck? Also, would the bottle neck be the same at higher resolutions (1440p, 4K, etc)?

somethings going on, went down a rabbit hole, and some people are getting 500+ cpu frames on a 13900, while others on identical systems get same ballpark as you 240-280.
My 13900ks gets solid 340fps in modern warfare 2.

okay guys i need a little bit of help, ive been fine for years playing rocket league on my pc set-up and suddenly i start lagging. I bought myself a new 4k monitor being the first step to 4k gaming (not sure if its the monitors issue or just coincidence) like in this video i tested all the stats when playing a match in rocket league and it says that GPU runs no lower then 60% and as high as 85%, then my CPU isnt going no higher then 30% and my memory usage is at 60%. So if ive understood it correctly then the bottleneck would be my GPU?
I git 4070 super and i5 12400 and it said 50 50 bottleneck is that cause weak cpu and what cpu would u recommend intel lga 1700
I noticed your "render resolution" is well below 1920x1080 is this affecting your bottleneck?
I have about the same system with a x570 dark hero and a 5900x with the msi trio 4090 and I play at 4k and put the settings basically to the lowest and I only get about 120 fps. But it realy doesn't mater what I run the settings at from 1080p low or high all the way to 4k low or high the fps stays around the same either way. Sucks.
With warzone 2 highest fps being the goal would it better to upgrade cpu or gpu (currently running 5950x w/ 3090? Curious how much of a boost I’d get going with the 5800x3d as that seems like the best value. Thoughts?
honestly u can have to best possible specs and with one update the performance avalanches but we all know that lmao i cant understand how a billon dollar company cant optimize a game for crap
I think if you're looking for a huge improvement then I get the 7800x3d, but it's mighty pricy upgrade for a new mobo cpu and ram

I’m thinking of getting the 4090 but I also have the 5950x. I noticed you did this video using 1080 resolution. The 4090 is mostly a 4k card so I’m wondering if I’m using 4k would I still bottle neck with the 5950x?
In 4k you will get impressive 150 fps. However for me streaming competitive games benefit from higher frames. I'm chasing 240p consistently or 360. The 5950x can't achieve this. No cpu can 13900k is coming close tho
Hi, thanks for the great informative video! I’m actually rocking a 4080 with a ryzen 7700x. On cod Benchmarks I get 98% cpu bottleneck… I play 1080p and on warzone I get from 120 fps to 170fps, do you think there’s something I can do to get more fps from this high end build?

Love to know what my pc is doing wrong 🙈 i have a i9 13900k with a zotac 4090. Everything set to ultra with render resolutiom set to 200 and im only getting around 110 to 120 fps in WZ2.
Lowering the graphics settings gives me no extra fps 🤷

Its not only using 1% of the gpu, that you got totally wrong
So, I just ran the WZ benchmark and got 1% for my brand new Gigabyte 4080 Gaming OC, and 99% for my i7-9700K cpu. Obviously the reason why my frames are still at around 120 in WZ. (Which really had me pissed because thats what I was getting with my old 2080 card in WZ. TF?) My issue now is I clearly need to upgrade my cpu (and mobo, and ram to DDR5) but I'm broke after getting the 4080. Whats the lowest price cpu that would at least allow me to increase my frames in WZ, as well as giving me a little bit of future proofing, since I'll be in debt for quite a while 😂?
Yeah a lot of channels on UA-cam don't explain this properly which is why I wanted to make the video so that everyone could understand. So I explained it in a much easier way. I highly recommend getting a 12900 KS or a 13900 KS but if budget doesn't allow you could probably score a 12900k or a 13900k at a great price. You probably can get a 12 900k for $300.
@@Akryl1kz thnks for the reply. Man, it's tricky when you're looking at cpu upgrades because you need to factor in all the other parts. Obv mobo and RAM (unless I can re-use my 32GB DDR4..?). But the major issue is I don't feel like upgrading to W11. Not that I'm against it, but the whole OS re-install is just a drag and multi-day project I'd like to put off if poss. lol Thanks agn.
you can adjust how many threads COD uses if you havent yet.
I have a Nvidia rtx 4090 and a i9-13900kf any idea why I am capping off at 136FPS? I even tried putting all the settings to default
try all settings medium. Ray tracing off. HBAO off, AA medium. 1080p set to monitor to 1080p to match game res. Then set SSR to off. Set DLSS to quality. Make sure its set to full screen exclusive. Go to windows and make sure your power plan is set to maximum performance. Then go to nvidia panel on desktop right click. Set the 3d settings on filtering to "prefer max performance" and the power plan to "prefer max performance. These things should give you around 220-240 easily.

Is a 13700k ok for a 4090 in 1440p?
I've got a 7950X and a 4090 and I have a huge CPU Bottleneck on the Cod Benchmark.
Game is poorly optimized. 7950 and asus boards have a huge issue right now. AM5 is having big time problems.
I'm a noob so bare with me here. If im getting good frames with something like a 5800x and a 4090 but im using 1080p and missing out on those extra frames since i didnt upgrade my cpu, your saying at 1080p even though im getting better performance than 1440p and 4k , it will stutter at 1080p because of high cpu usage? like i dont understand the term bottleneck clearly it dosent make sense when people say "your bottlenecked at 1080p" i mean huh? arent i getting more fps at 1080p than 1440p and higher? Than why does it matter?
It means your cpu can't keep up so your max out on fps. If you get a faster cpu your fps will go up in 1080 and 4k

I bet! They are huge but awesome cards. Look good and perform good. The 3090 was a dud mostly and never achieved what nvidia promised.
My 7900x3d and 7900xtx in 1080p gets 425fps in the benchmark and 380fps in 1440p
This is the way. For a fraction of the cost of any 4090 build you get much better performance

It uses more gpu less cpu yes. With a AMD 79503D AND 4090 You can do 240-300fps in 1440p.

You should be OK. Small bottleneck in 1080p none in 1440p.

Kinda funny how people call it a "bottleneck problem" when we are talking about frame times in the 2-3 ms range, which does effectively *nothing* to the overall game input lag.
It's just silly emotion-evoking phraseology under the expectation of "unlimited fps".
But in reality, you are not searching "unlimited FPS"; but that sweet spot, where CPU and GPU give you max FPS __at your preferred resolution__.
And when that sweet spot is reached, it doesn't matter if your CPU or your GPU are snoring.
All you get when your CPU is at 99% is free details. Just increase render quality, until your FPS get impaced too much and boom - enjoy high FPS and non-shitty graphics at the same time.
Would the Amd 7800x3d paired with the 4090 bottle neck? The way the new Amd CPU’s work higher core CPU’s like the ryzen 9 7900x3d/7950x3d get cut to 8 cores for gaming. But AMD’s CPU’s are super efficient. Would it be better to go with a different GPU when using AMD CPU’s?
Every cpu wil bottleneck at some point. Faster cpu just means more FPS. 78003d will not be the best choice but a good one. There is no cpu out there right now that will outperform the 13900 consistently. 7800x3d and 7950x3d do in some games. The 13900ks is the best cpu and works with rtx4090 better. Even so this cpu bottlenecks around 320fps in 1080p depending on settings it might see 340fps.
@@Akryl1kz i get 371 at 2k with the 7800x3d and that's with simple 6000 ram tuned to 6200 and a 190 euros motherboard. The CPU frames in the benchmark are 410.

Lots of iffy information here. First the 5950x is not exactly a beast for gaming. Second, the GPU utilization is not 1% and the CPU is not 99%. Also the “4090 is the GPU you want.” = super cringe and out of touch especially right now, and I do own one.
5950x is probably better than whatever you have. It’s a 16 core beast, it even has some ups compared to the 13900k. Get it right. And I’m the owner of 3 desktops, with hardware regarding this. 14900k, 4090. 5950x, 3090 (had a 4090),10900k, 2070 Super. In fact, my 14900k bottlenecks the 4090 more than my 5950x
I play on 1440p 240hz i have an i9-13900k gigabyte 4090 6800mhz ddr5 ram im always 70%+ bottlenecked by the cpu but still need to frame cap at 240 honestly looking into a 4k gaming monitor to actually get my money's worth of all my pc components

Hey i've got 5600x and rtx 4090, im getting like 100fps in 1080p what am i doing wrong? Yes I know i should play higher res and better cpu but for now I wont upgrade it, is there something i can do to get more frames? It looks like its something with the game
That cpu is the issue. I bet it's 99% bottleneck at 100fps. Get a 5950x it will jump to 170+. That's the cheapest way since all you would need to do is upgrade cpu since 5600x and 5950x are same am4 socket.
get the 5800x3d but compared to 7800x3d u will loose some frames with the 5800x3d. if u dont wnt to upgrade to new mobo and new ram just go with the 5800x3d. sell 5600x and the 5800x3d only costs around 300.
So the solution is getting a better processor? I have the same issue, i have a ryzen 9 5950x paired with a 3080 i was getting 115 fps, now with a 4090 im getting 120 fps :(

Correct. The same thing goes for 4K with the 4090 you get 144 frames in 4k if you have the right cpu. You will notice that with a 5950x you will not get as many frames as you would with a 13900 ks. These gpus are getting so fast that the processor needs to work harder even in 4k. By the time the 590 comes out you're going to need 15900ks or equivalent since that video cards 2 years away we will have two newer generation cpus. That's when 360 FPS consistently in 1080P and 200 plus FPS in 4k will be possible. The CPUs are just not as strong as the gpus are in fact the CPUs are about two generations behind the gpus of today.

Maybe I missed it but I have a 3090 and my cpu is 98% GPU 2% what should I be doing? Also, I get power cards and cpu but it seems this game is causing the problem purposely, I played cod and never have I had this issue until this game!
COD is a amd gpu heavy. It doesn't like nvidia much. Also need fast ram and good cpu for 1080p. 3090 isn't that good for 4k either. Based on your numbers I assume you are running 4k. Do 1440p and you will be good
Ive got a 5950x with 3080. They saying AMD Gpu's are performing better on warzone, is that true? I wanted to go with a 4090 and 13900k, but maybe i should go with a 13900k and 7900xtx. Any thoughts on that?

AMD cards are not only giving you much better GPU frames, but also CPU frames. I know it sounds weird but that's because nvidia uses a lot more CPU for rendering. That kills performance in any CPU bound situation and warzone is the example
i build entire computers for the cost of the 4090 alone that do so much better fps

@@Akryl1kz i dont recommend dlss for games like warzone or fortnite since dlss gives u more frames but makes the latency higher which is bad for those type of games. in any other game that is not online shooter dlss is good.

So I have a I3 10100F paired with a RTX 3060TI. Now this sounds like the recipe for disaster but I assure you not. My PC only seems to bottleneck in call of duty, almost as if there some kind of in-game limit. My CPU NEVER runs more than 25% and my GPU NEVER runs more than 50% in game. But in loading screens and main menu my GPU can run at 80% as well as my CPU at 50%. Other games like Apex legends and Rocket League cruise. I run about 500FPS on Rocket League and cruise on 145FPS on Apex at ULTRA graphics. Apex Legends pushes my GPU to average at around 70-80% forcing more usage therefore increasing my FPS, but my PC almost seems like it doesn't care and wants to only produce 40FPS in Call of duty Modern warfare (Warzone 2). Please assist me of you care.
This game is also CPU intensive tracking the game world and 50+ other players.
U wasnt rendering in 1080p tho u had scaling on so it will effect the result more

No Mans sky - 25-30fps /// 115 6700XT

Whats stupid is that you can literally run lets say i9 14900kf and 4070 ti and have more fps than runing example 4090 and 5950 and thats because of cpu bottleneck...Stupid warzone uses so much cpu its literally more important to have top of the line cpu rather thsn card...There is 4070 4080 builds runing 300-350fps in 1440p and this guy is strugling to hit 250fps with 4090 thsts becausr amd 5950 is a complete garbage compared to 13900 or better yet 14900kf

Well, To a degree in a future once cpus catch up ya this is pure facts. The 13900k isnt even fully enough to keep up with a RTX 4090 we all know that.
