GNU | Sanusha Naidu weighs in on the letter from Ramaphosa to Steenhuisen

- ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa has penned a scathing letter to DA Leader John Steenhuisen accusing him of shifting goalposts in negotiations over cabinet positions. In letter seen by the SABC, Ramaphosa says he informed Steenhusinen that they found the letter from DA Federal Chairperson Helen Zille offensive, condescending, and inconsistent with the Constitution.
The DA was demanding 11 ministers and deputy and wanting to fire Director Generals in those portfolios. Ramaphosa in the letter further says the DA has been disruptive and uncooperative in the negotiations unlike other parties.
Let's get more reaction now from political analyst Sanusha Naidu.

The electorate gave this government a clear mandate. Representation in cabinet should be proportional to the number of NA seats in the GNU. Power must be shared equitably. Anything else would be undermining the people's will.
We the black majority never want anything to do with da and FF plus, we don't want you at all
Where, how and when did South African's vote for this Government of National Disunity?
Where can I find this mandate from the electorate about proportionality. You all being carried away by DA's made up delusions. The Constitution states it is the President's prerogative to appoint his cabinet. He can even choose someone not in politics at all if he wanted to. The delusions are off the scale.
ANC have a choice !!
Deal with the DA demands or Deal with Julius and Zuma Demands.. let's see how that works
Ya, maybe it's having too many choices that is confusing them.
Ramaphosa loses his job if he deals with juju and Zuma.
Zuma's condition is that Ramaphosa must step down as the president of which is worse than DA's demands

The DA does not have the power to dictate, they said so to other parties when they were the majorit Moonpact something......

More concerned with staying out of jail for all the stealing they've done over the last 30 years... :(
So is the DA.
Politicians can't be trusted
Political parties are not concerned about well-being of the citizens of South Africa, they only care about themselves and their Financial sponsor.
Its always been that way; they just want to steal, They think like thei; What country? Is there a country? We just thought it was a place to steal from, wow we learn something new every day. (actually they never learn anything, so that part is wrong)
Trust no one, trust no political party
Before the elections, John Steenhuizen reminded everyone that there was not enough time to form a coalition and suggested pre election exploratory talks. What did Cyril say? He said the ANC would win an outright majority. So now the voters have to watch them squabble. It's very frustrating!!

I think the DA is committed, but the ANC knows that if they lose the key positions they will not be able to keep up their corruption. I think they have not accepted that they are not in control anymore. Look at the Rand; the minute it was stated that the DA might pull out the Rand fell; the world knows who will save SA and it isn't the ANc, its the DA. I think the ANC knows this so they are worried.
No point in being in the GNU if the ANC still hold all the key positions !!
Trust me when I say this , The EFF or MK would expect the Same key positions
If the DA can't effectively change things through big ministerial positions than they may as well be on the opposition bench !!
Let the ANC deal with Julius or Zuma and see how that works..
People in general are naive to believe that things are only going to get better, these so called Leaders are putting themselves first as usual for the prime slices of the pie, leaving the only the pastry for the people.

If the DA doesn't get any real power then they get swallowed by the ANC and will lose massive support in the next elections.
They may be better off in the opposition benches if that is the case.
EFF and MK will certainly be demanding.

Negotiations where always going to be hard with the ANC wanting to give away as little as possible and the DA wanting as much as possible. The biggest winners of the next election will be the MK & EFF if this grand coalition fails. The DA doesn't trust the failed ANC government and the ANC sees the DA as for the white population and not for the black majority so the ANC doesn't trust the DA. The ANC shows the arrogance summed up by what Zuma said. "The ANC will rule until Jesus comes." Negotiations would of been just as difficult with an ANC EFF and MK coalition remember if your constitutioncy doesn't deliver in the coalition cause of lack of positions to make meaningful change or to have a strong enough voice you are doomed to fail.
