I donated! Put yourself in the patient's position, their lives are dependent on all of us. It is the right thing to do.

You got me to go onto bone marrow registry from a while ago. I was already donating blood and plasma - so it was an easy sign up. I just don't know why they don't advertise it around the donation centres or offer this as an option verbally. Organ donation seems to be more widely advertised, generally. Maybe we ought to write to Donate Life?

This would be extremely difficult for you and the family during all of this! Make sure your husband eats a lot before the transplant, that’s my best but if advice. It’s good to have those energy stores ready for when the transplant comes 👌 All my strength to your family and husband for this next stage of treatment 🙏

Great video! Another donation option not many know about is umbilical cord blood banking. Especially useful for recipients of diverse ethnic backgrounds without a matched donor as cords only need to be half matched. Anthony Nolan (UK) and Be the Match (USA) tend to be the predominant cord banks (at least at my hospital - transplant research scientist in Adelaide). My dad is actually 18 months post his double cord blood transplant. Needed 2 cords to make up the cell count/weight requirement of an adult recipient.

@@TylerBlah Thank you 😃 Doing well other than some chronic GVHD, but hey, that means good graft function.
