Awesome progress!! I am two and half years post BMT. It’s been a bumpy ride, but I am forever grateful for my donor, my medical team and my friends and family for helping me recover from the most traumatic experience of my life.
Hi Tyler I hope your doing well, I'm 7 months post BMT and I'm feeling great, I did manifest some gvhd but it was a bit weird and I'm embarrassed 🤣 to talk about it, but my foreskin shrunk and was unable to pull it down, it's known as phimosis, I was prescribed a betamethasone ointment and it really helped. I'm feeling almost normal still taking some meds but I'm off most of them, and I started doing exercise and gaining muscle, I'm so happy and grateful with my donor as well for this second opportunity

I'm SOOOO happy for you Tyler! You've been through so much yet you still continue to shine brightly! I love your inspirational videos. Stay strong and healthy.
Hi Tyler, I chanced upon one of your vids and began watching most of them. I am amazed at your positive attitude despite all that you have been through. 💪🏻👍 Last August, my daughter was diagnosed with AML. She had gone through BMT and today, she is in her +82 day post BMT. She is doing alright thus far, with mild GVHD but that is now under control with steroids, thankfully. As we watched your vids, we can’t help feeling a little envious, seeing you cuddling and kissing your cats. Not one but two cats! How is that possible?? We had to get a friend to foster our furbaby for a few months as doc was concerned about her (my daughter) getting infected because she is immunocompromised 😔. Our cat is well taken care of but we missed him dearly. Looking forward to bring him home soon.
Congratulations on the +82, thats a big milestone for sure! and thank you for sharing about your daughter. My team did say that to avoid the cats and litter etc. is the guidance and best practise, but I don't live near family or others as I moved for medical school so my home and cats were all in one and I was unable to separate them. So I kept the cats with me during it. But hopefully soon you can be with your cat again soon :) Have they given any time estimate of when that could happen?

The youtube algorithm :P Praise for sure Andy! But it definitely is after every year of the BMT I get safer, never as safe as before I imagine, but safer nonetheless, but definitely by the 2 year point with live vacccines, I can be far more confident!

You asked where a viewer is relative to a stem cell transplant or bone marrow transplant (my oncologist thinks the latter term is "old-fashioned" now). I am being evaluated for a stem cell transplant. I began as a stage 4 chronic lymphocytic leukemia with Richter transformation patiant. I received R-EPOCH chemo - 6 days continuous IV (round the clock), then two weeks rest, for a total of six cycles (i.e. 36 days on an IV pole!) to "clean out the junk ini your body" (again, the oncologist's phrase). The last PET scan was totally dark. The onc says that if I am to ever get a stem cell transplant, now is the time to go for it, as my health is good and the CLL is in 100 percent remission. I am taking a maintenance med - acalabrutinib, a Bruton tyrosine kinase inhibitor - to keep the CLL at bay. If the transplant should fail, what remains is CAR-T cell therapy. Just curious here - is CAR-T what you had in the clinical trial therapy you received? It's a therapy that's coming out of clinical trial in my country. I'm very curious to learn more about that treatment from a patient's point of view.
Great question! Car-T is very similar, but different process. The CAR-T are engineered cells that target the cancer. Whereas my clinical trial was cells that targeted EBV
