    Not so fun fact about me watching the first 4 episodes: I didn't cry the day I watched, but the day after at my job, I started thinking about what I watched and realized that I was pretty much being like Frieren. I was not giving value to having my grandparents alive and I started thinking that, if I keep not valuing them, maybe It would be too late. I cried so much this day at the job it was crazy. So yeah, I called them and I'll go to their house spend some time with them.
    This anime really is something else.

      Oh, ðen let me tell you a secret. Ðe opening called "Yuusha" from Yoasobi, is Frieren's secret love letter to Himmel. "Kimi" had romantic and intimate connotations in ðe Heian Era and before. Which was around a 1000 years ago. Coincidentally, Frieren is also 1000 years old. She puts so much focus on Himmel in ðe opening ðat it's kinda on ðe nose what she's trying to tell.

    Frieren's weapon to make you cry.
    Lost Promises, Nostalgia, Fun and Happy Past with former friends, Making Frieren Smile seeing a familiar thing, making Frieren sad seeing a familiar thing.
    Also, Longing and her drive to understand humans despite her difference of time perception.

    • @sleepylion9788
      @sleepylion9788 7 місяців тому

      Actually, the show uses your own nostalgia against you. It was not the melancholic scenes that made me cry, but what they remind me of of my own past that did so.

    • @assaulthetz
      @assaulthetz 7 місяців тому +1

      @@sleepylion9788 It just.. hits harder that way than normal drama.
      As if it reminds you of your own experience in foot of Frieren.
      Reminding and reminiscing of your own self, and those you lost.
      Frieren amplifies that sort of emotions, grow it in tension and release it once, something or someone would appear in time when the experiences were in retro/at the past.
      You wanted to revisit it, you want to re-experience or at least you want to fulfill that empty void.
      That is why this anime/manga, makes me cry. Harder than i have thought.
      Because it isn't just the focus here about Frieren's lifetime, it is her experience of why is she compelled to understand human's will and their legacy.
      Because that's what makes us who we are and the mark that we'd existed even if they or we are gone.

    • @sleepylion9788

    • @assaulthetz
      @assaulthetz 7 місяців тому +1

      @@sleepylion9788 The scenes of Himmel at his last day, reminds me of my old folks in country side provinces.
      I can't help but miss them, their legacy, their homes everything is still there, but the fact that you can 'see' them either sitting on the chair or watching outside.. just amplifies that in Frieren.
      It wasn't the drama, it was her experience that we also empathized to her that led us to cry either to her comfort or to ourselves.
      It's a strong emotions that rarely invoked.
      Some of the drama RN specially in TV shows are sudden sickness, sudden deaths all sudden, but the longing and regret of the abandoned or loss from that character is rare to me.
      What's worse, that every fun, every good memories, everything that had been good to her experiences is lost with them, it can only invoked to a similar person or to a similar experience..
      Seeing Frieren making every effort to visit her remaining hero party and giving everything she can offer to help even she doesn't know herself...
      No, even I on Frieren's foot, I would've done that too. We smile, we laugh, sometimes fight, make up, just the memories they represent, they invoke every ounce of it.
      Is gonna gut punch you when they're gone and when you remember them when they are just history of your past.
      This is probably me... and my experiences of 4 episodes of Frieren.
      Still, it fkking hurts when she starts to long and reminisce to someone she deeply cares of.
      I can't believe i made a wall just to express why Frieren affected me so much.

Then your little sibling decided to play it so you tag along with their adventure, guiding them and teaching them with all the knowledge you gained back when you too were a noob while remembering all the things you did in specific maps with your friends back then. -When you already complete main quests and now on ur way doing dlc questlines/side quests.
    -You will never understand how precious that thing is until you lose them like how Frieren never care Himmel that much before, Ended up regret herself and now try to do redemption for anything he has done include start to care other so, If you still have parents or friends, Enjoy ur life with them the most.
    -It's okay to thinking of past but don't dwelled over it. Instead, Use it to push urself forward to ur goal.

    From this manga and anime we learned that have long life doesn't mean our life will be full of happiness, friren have to see her friend one by one go, even she can't express her feelings because for her it was just a few moments but for her friends that was a long journey, I really sad when she said word on Himmel funeral even when heather was on end of his life 😢😢

    Frieren is the only IP that properly built their world and depicted it efficiently in an anime. I hope it blows up so hard that the attention to world building becomes standard practice.

    YES, YES Frieren IS an Done Fucking PERFECT Kito Senpai is 2000% correct with that statement.
    The ONLY way that this would be even more perfect is if the DUB is presented with a Cast that PERFECTLY encompasses each Character. So who would the viewers like to see portray Frieren, & Fern in the Dub?

      Surprisingly the English DUB voices are pretty close to JP versions maybe not exactly perfect but it's at least 8.5-9 tier.@@gingeralice3858

    I bet you never read this underrated manga.
    Manga name: I can't stop cursing you.
    Sypnosis:
    It was just an ordinary day at Yami High..until it wasn't. A ringing cell phone and the splatter of blood marked the beginning of a deadly game. The rules: Contractor Mikiya has thirty days to curse-kill thirty people-or meet a fate worse than death. On the other side, Curse-Breaker Saeyama must identify the killer... without falling prey to one of Mikiya’s curse-kills. Only time will tell who will emerge victorious...

    I really like this anime and I'm not usually a fan of this type of fantasy genre. The first 4 episodes were released on the same date and I watched them back to back like a movie. It felt like a theatrical production the animation is smooth and natural looking, the CGI usage seems minimal or it blends very well with the 2D pieces, the writing is focused a lot on the characters and world building and with not a ton of fighting or too much talking. It does a lot of show instead of tell and I like how subtle it feels. I watched the most recent episode on October the 13th and it's holding up well. I was really surprised by this series and hope it can maintain this quality but having 20 something episodes I don't know about how well it will age.

    I see many people commented that the anime shows the "curse of immortality". I disagree. Besides the fact that elves are not immortal, I believe the viewpoint that their long life is a "curse" misses the point of the manga/anime. The super long life of Frieren only looks like a curse when it is viewed from the perspective of humans, who have much shorter lifespan compared to elves. Frieren herself has very different view on time compared to human. To her 5 years, 10 years, even 50 years is just a blip and she does not really think spending months or years in a single place is a significant at all. But to humans, 5 years is enough for a small human kid to grow into a teenager taller than her and can wield powerful magic; 10 years spent in quest to defeat maou is very considerable time spent in the life of the human yusha and priest and pretty define their lives; waiting for 50 years is a long long time for humans to contemplate but to Frieren it is just a very short time ("JUST 50 years" in her own words). And Frieren is the kind of character who is not quick to display emotions and seems to deal with things more by logic and her own interest than feelings and empathy. She is very comfortable with herself and living a lone life, so a very long lifespan would not feel like a curse to her. However, the critical thing for Frieren, which is also the point of this manga/anime, is that without realising until much later she has built up a strong bond and connection with her companions in the quest party, particularly the yusha. So she may use all kinds of reasons to support where she goes, what she does and what she wants, but beneath them we can tell it all comes from her desire to connect with the team mates whom she spent "only 10 years" going on a quest together. And from our point of view, it may be a "curse" because she outlives everyone and now she has to deal with their legacy instead of the living person himself. Yet I doubt from Frieren's point of view she would think this is necessarily a curse. I think she is definitely learning about the different perspective about time from human point of view and the need to adjust her ways to better match human's much tighter time. This is a story about personal growth (of an elf) but not really a curse itself. I also don't want to tag it as coming-of-age story because Frieren's story probably is not what most elves go through growing up, as they do not usually spend years living with humans, so it is more a unique story about an elf, who had not thought too much about the different views of time between elves and humans, growing to be aware of the bonding she had with various humans and becoming curious of the human ways.
