- Jedi Academy: Enhanced is a mod for Jedi Academy Single Player which adds features and improvements to the core experience like RGB sabers, saber customization, saber holstering, new force powers, some extra character customization options using “head swapping”, optionally allows SFX Sabers, widescreen fixes, better effects and more.
It's based on OpenJK (so the code is released under the GPL and available at [github.com/JKEnhanced/OpenJK/]) and a slightly modified version (for SP) of AJL's SFX Saber code. It also uses Open Jedi Project code for TrueView.

And this is why mods should be encouraged by developers. Almost 20 years old and still is getting support from the community.
Actually, in case you didn't know, the developers who made Jedi Academy dumped the engine and source code for people to use.
@@TraceguyRune That isn't their point. The point is that there are unfortunately several prominent game studios that actively discourage mods and shut them down.

@Patrick Barsalou Actually from a business standpoint, driving interest in a 20 year old game is great. They have zero cost. Anyone buying the game will be 100% profit for zero effort. There are plenty of gamers who never played it who might decide to give it a try. And even gamers who have bought it before may end up buying it again. I don't know about you, but I have no idea where my copy of JA is. So I could either spend hours looking for the disk and hope that it isn't scratched up from decades of being wherever it is. Or I can pay $5 and get a new copy off Steam. It's worth it to me to pay the $5. And none of that impacts their ability to develop new games, or customer demand for those games. It's not like they've constantly got games coming out, so in the years between releases, gamers can play these older games. And if they do have a new game coming out, it's unlikely that, if forced to choose, someone is going to forgo the new game to get one that's 2 decades old.
@@mechanomics2649 The reason is that they wanna sell DLC instead. DLC and Season Passes also ruined Battlefield Total Conversions.

Best gameplay of any Star Wars game.
With cheats it is better, for you can use desann and tavion saber style, or bind weapons, so you can use both dual saber and single saber with desired saber styles. It has potential, but without cheats I do not find it that good, nor I find basic missing that good, so I use spawn cheat to fill modders maps with NPCs.
if fallen order or force unleashed had real lightsabers one hit kill with good mesh dismemberment people would have been playin for years
You know a game is great when it's 20 years old and still has an active community.
Jedi Outcast needs an updated mod like this. Awesome work.
There are a few mods that when combined make Jedi Outcast a lot more buffed up than it originally was.

I think this game could potentially win more awards brought into VR with all the updated features.. such a great game already! To experience it in VR.... a dream come true!
Currently playing the team beef jk2 VR port, it's amazing being inside my favorite childhood game once you get used to the controls, so much freedom and intuition to the force powers. Plus who hasn't wanted to draw a dick with their lightsaber? Truly a dream come true. Love that these classics are still getting support.
I used to play JKA every day for probably like ten years. I still log on every week at least once haha, this is awesome!
Dude, imagine if we got a game with this much customization in a modern day game. Like, that would be so sick and I would totally play it again and again. I typically don't do PC games, but I am totally getting it on PC just for this Mod.

Loved JKA and the mods the Community put into the game. Awesome to see JKHub on YT and seeing more recent works since back then.
What blows my mind is this game engine is capable of so much more, the damned saber hilts have more polygons and texture maps than the characters and environment
God bless modders who still work on this game. Mods are the reason I played this game for seven years after release. There was so much content you could download, multiplayer servers to play on running different mods, and so much fun to be had. I am so happy to see that the modding scene still hasn't died for what is arguably among the best Star Wars games ever created. There is a very clear amount of serious work that was put into this mod, I mean, saber customization!? I never thought I'd see the day Jedi Academy would actually get a mod that let you swap parts to create your own. That's just wild. Hats off to all of you who've been working on this.
Great to see people are still making mods for JKA! I helped with Open Jedi Project over a decade ago and my main focus was the saber combat (which was very confusing to new players but way cooler and more movie like than the base JKA jump/swing fest combat IMO). Glad to see you are using some of the true view code from it and I'm sure Razorace is very happy about that too. I hope one day someone will resurrect OJP and find a way to make the saber system more friendly to new players and grow its popularity. Good luck on your mod!

Randomly found this video and saw how amazing this mod is, so good in fact that I purchased Jedi Academy for steam on the spot (after having already owned the game on Xbox and switch) and installed the mod, amazing work!

Ive been with you guys for years even during the first time the mod was created it was during my highschool time and i love the mod. Im now 35 yrs old whenever i have a free time or to relive my stress i keep playing and always love the games you made. I appreciate and thankful to you guys. Star wars oldies like us will akways live on.

Jedi Academy really is the gift that keeps on giving, thank you to all skilled modders still continuing to work on this game and especially thank you for creating Jedi Academy Enhanced. This is a prime example why companies should allow games to be moddable, the games stay around forever and promotes creativity. Bro, i am a kid of the of 2010 and now i just 12 playing this game makes me feel like people where so EXITED when this came out in like the 2000's and now i am playing this in 2023 and this enhanced version makes it even better

This mod is the perfect mod for me. I'm not huge on adding a bunch of crap to my game but this adds just enough in the right areas while still keeping the vanilla feel. More or less just allowing a proper resolution and giving some more customization. The lightsaber customization and the baking in of the realistic saber combat(which I used to have to tweak the ini file to get) are the big things for me. The better graphics and resolution are just a bonus. This was the first mod I've ever installed to Jedi Knight but now I don't think I'll ever be able to play without it.
Might have to jump back into this one!

Any work on adding new custom saber styles? Are we still using Dragon or is there a better tool for animating now? I'd be really rusty with Dragon.

Redsaurus added that Katarn style with the saber + gun and I think you had originally volunteered to make the animations for it but nothing ever came of it. Its definitely something I think we can see more of but nobody really came forward outside of you to animate them.

I think nowadays its best to use Blender to animate for JKA, from the handful of people out there still making animations for the bigger mod projects.

Still play to this day online and best Star Wars game ever for saber combat. People create their own styles and footwork and have trained it for years at this point. Always a challenge to be found.

Spent so many hours playing this game it was insanse.
Just duels,over and over and just honing my skills and getting better.
Standing right in front of my opponent,bowed down and went for it...dang,so many good memories.

How have I not heard of this mod before now…dear lord I need to play this.
One thing I never liked about JK2 and JKA is how the force meter is handled and how it gets emptied so fast when you're supposed to be a jedi master.
I hope it's one feature that will be changed someday.
Really looking forward the new graphics and new force powers, hope more will be added in the future too if anyones continue the development.

I remember this game back when i was in middle school. I played it so much i had to buy the game 2 times cause the disk kept fing up on me cause i played so much and kept the game running. Me and my buds would fall alseep while the server was still up. Some of the best experiences ive had in gaming took place on Academy OG xbox

I wish we could get more Star Wars games like this. The mixture of different play styles (FPS, 3rd person shooter/slasher) with character creation and the like.
Jedi Fallen Order is cool and all, but its basically just a fusion of Dark Souls and God of War set in the Star Wars canon. I really miss the Jedi Knight/Jedi Outcast style.
And a new, proper single-player Star Wars RPG (like KOTOR) would be nice to have too.

I actually used to help out with a few mods on JKAcademy many years ago. I've been a 3D model artist for 19 years and, whilst I did enjoy helping out, I found the Unreal 3 engine to be graphically limiting lol.
Impressive....Most impressive.
Force repulse is nice, but Force destruction is the only "insanity" of this saga lmaoo but yeah, back in a day EU was crazy.
But other than that, this mod is AMAZING, 10/10. Jedi Academy is one of the BEST Star Wars games of it's era, and the role-playing community marked the life of the few selected individuals who played it. IMO it was the apex of SW RP.

I just started playing Jedi academy yesterday and I found this. This is amazing but I do agree with that one comment below saying that dismembering should be able to be turned off.
You can turn dismemberment off globally in the normal settings. I forget which menu within setup, possibly under Options.

I have played this game on every system that I own, PC included… but I really wish I could get such great mods like this on the more recent Nintendo Switch port or something. What a dream that would be, but there’s no way I could put in the work to get that functional.
Need something to enhance graphics, via shaders and lighting but I am so happy for this modpack.
