- A connected map mod has been one of the most requested mods for nearly a decade, so the fact that I'm releasing this today is...slightly surreal. Anyway, I really hope you enjoy it!

What else do we have? A lot of the new games are copy paste and only designed to take your money, not to have fun.

Well done! Started following you because I was curious if anyone had attempted to join Simpsons maps, and was amazed at how well you did it!
Old games: Press the ‘Action’ button.
Me as a kid: Which in the fuck is the “Action” button?! Then proceed to press everything on the controller, till I found it.
Relic og a time when devs didn't want to or have time to make specific HUD for every console including PC. Especially on PC its an issue since you can ebind everything or you might still use a conteoller
These days they program the hud so it changes icon depending on what button you have assigned
There doesn't seem to be any "any" key!
There are still games that use descriptions like "press (button 3) to continue".
And some PC games still to this day refer to the function rather than the actual key, like the "press the action button to continue" example.....double points if the devs decided to bind the default button to something you never ever use as an action button like J or Ctrl or something.

All the console versions had specific huds, back when this was released on pc xinput didn't exist, directinput was the main means of controller input through windows which allowed for various gamepads to work and self implementation from developers to distinguish a device. Xbox controllers weren't used on pcs back then so of course they didn't integrate a hud for them on pc, this came out in 2003
I remember the hover car being cool but annoying since it’s easily damaged.

Amazing. Imagine if every mission was on this map and you could do chunks of them in any order, with the faster cars spawning in traffic as you progressed.

Well, the only reason it did. It was due to limitation of the hardware at the time. This game was built for consoles and consoles then were not that powerful. And it would cost more to rework the game engine just for PC. It was cheaper to straight up port it.
POssible yes, however it would've restricted it to PC because of hardware limitations especially with the PS2 and Gamecube

The Simpsons road rage had level portals that were blocked off that could probably easily melt the whole map together. But this is very impressive. Good work

As someone who grew up on this game this is so cool can't help but think it'd be cooler if it was all modded to be Halloween but that's just me. Made me realise just how much I played that game that I was still able to roughly navigate despite not playing it in 10+ years
This is amazing and I can't wait till more missions are added to each episode to take advantage of the whole map

By the date this video got uploaded and the recent comments i assume that this video recently got reccommended to alot of people.
Back when I was younger, my PS2 disc of this was scratched and wouldn't load the second level (the city one). I'm going to buy it and play it right now, simply because this video came up.
I sort of wish they actually combined these 3 maps and made levels that could require you to drive from one of them to another.
This brings back some good old memories

Man if we can do this and implement online imagine we turned this game into a MMO one day with players buying apartments, houses and everything. Mayne somebody could use the assets and recreate the entirety of the game and release it as a fan made f2p community game.

welcome to the world of modding my friend, almost all of your childhood classics will have some form of modifications out there to change it even things you have to dig a little for and are uncommon
@@masterjenkins632 yeah totally. if you like wind waker or majora's mask, try a randomizer for them. especially for wind waker. making it open and non linear makes it feel like a whole new experience.

But like there’s not really much point because then most of the map isn’t bEwing used in line with the story
@@Shano1101 I had an idea to solve that, there could be a new game plus where all the mission and race take advantage of the other maps, so the original game design is intact while the new map is in NG+
Dude this is so seamless. If they ever remake hit and run, they need to do this, and have each level unlock one at a time, like the maps in old GTA games
If they remake it they should redo the whole map from the ground up, game is so old that just an HD re-release won't be very exciting
@@wile123456 We're at a point now where a new game would basically be indistinguishable between game and TV show. It would be absolutely incredible to have this remade using today's tech
@@AverageAtBestHDTB if a Simpsons game had to look like the show it should be 2D with hand drawn assets, or it should be rendered similarly to Dragonball FighterZ, which uses 3D but posing, pinpoint animation and cell shading to make it look 2D.
That isn't easy to do though, so they'll need to give a team enough time and money to properly do it
