Hello. While I am not a reenactor, I like to use much of the WW-2 type German, Russian, US, and UK grear. I have some M-43 trousers from Lost Battalions that I use in winter. They are great and I like the stirup system at the bottoms that works so well with ankle boots or pull on boots. The use of canvas gaiters and ankle boots, brought about a very common sense trouser that made the requirement of lacing boots and putting on canvas gaiters much faster and easier. Pull on boots of course work fine also, and I like them better in any case. I like the real wool over all the polar fleese and other man made synthethic fibers. Also you leather treatment that you demonstrated is the best I have ever used. I am a retired 100% service connected disabled combat veteran. I enjoy learning about other kinds of great and clothing used by other armies and I like the natural fibers far better than so much of junkola stuff that is being issued for clothing today. Some of the gear is of course great, but I am not a fan of cloths that melt when on fire. I entired Service back during Vietnam and retired in 2000. Your site is very interesting and informative. Great videos.

Fantastic impression! Agreed on all points. I'd invest in some Fußlappen. They are far more quick to dry than socks, not difficult to put on, don't wear out as quickly, and certainly help reduce or eliminate any bad rubbing on the feet from boots.
I remember there's a moment in Episode 1 of Band of Brothers where one of the soldiers lists all the gear he has to carry with him for the jump into France, and it was something like 50-60 pounds of gear. It's very interesting to see that German soldiers (especially the SS) carried just as much if not more gear with them into battle. Of course this is all in ideal situations...there might be no way of knowing how often soldiers made it through battles or campaigns with all their original gear, and what they had to do to replace pieces if they could.
