That’s true. Most people will never want to do it, but everybody wants to know that they’re able to do it. It was definitely unpleasant when we got it over 40 miles an hour around town.
Very cool - thanks for the helpful video. I would be worried about the windshield coming up while driving without the tie-downs!! I had a Honda Civic once which had a problem with its hood - and I tied it with some string or something that was obviously not good enough - and as I got on the freeway and hit about 50 mph, the hood came up and hit my windscreen and cracked it! I had to stop on the side of the highway in a hurry!
I had to fold my windshield down today on my Jeep Gladiator and had the same issue with the wipers, which was why I was here. I ended up leaving them on with the hood up since I didn't need to fold it all of the way down. I needed to route the SPOD controller cable in the channel below the wind shield, that's one reason to do this, it makes the process a whole lot easier to get the ethernet cable into the cab but it's really not worth the hassle otherwise IMO.
Another way to try to get the wipers off without the puller is to push on the joint of the wiper arm repeatedly until it comes off. That’s of course if you don’t want to get a tool to get it off
@@Threedog1963 mine has a wire going from the rear mirror to the top of the jeep I got told to unscrew the mirror but then itd be dangling from the roof of the jeep by the wire
There's always gonna be a possibility of that, but using those straps to keep it snug would pretty much eliminate that risk unless you're doing 50 down a cobblestone path
It goes back to the WWII models. The real purposes were for stacking Jeeps to ship across the ocean, to fit stretchers, and haul longer military equipment. It remains today but the JL is different only allowing the window to be lowered or removed. It actually doesn’t bother me though, the JK looked dumb with the rest of the roll cage and missing section up front
Jeep shouldn't have done this. There's no point. I take mine down so I have an unobstructed view. Now, you still have a frame. It's silly. Taking the complete window down was my favorite thing. Even though it took a bit and I had to remove part of the roll bar. Since we can't anymore, I may go to a bronco. They can't either but I like how the doors work.
“THAT’S A LOTTA WIND NOISE!” I absolutely love it 😂
Thanks!! Most jeep owners only try this once.
Of all Jeep videos I’ve watched, this has the most concise and useful information while remaining entertaining!!! Thank you so much!
Glad it was helpful!
I see this option only being good while slow crawling while off roading. Eating bugs at 40+ mph ain’t fun lol

I take the windshield down on my two door when it’s nice and wear goggles and a leather helmet driving around for shits and giggles lol
@@Swolesquatch865 you should also wear a white scarf and play ride of the valkyrie at max volume
I have to remove my windshield to install sun screen.
@@Swolesquatch865 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for taking the time to video this. First time I’ve seen the tie-downs demonstrated👍👍
You’re welcome
God bless you for this, the autozone tip was an absolute lifesaver!
Thanks. I’m glad I could help.
You explained perfectly. Thank you
You're very welcome!

Perfect explanation
Glad it was helpful!
Oh man that’s awesome, really want to do this on my tj
You have to try it at least once. There is A LOT of wind over 40 mph.
Where could I buy jeep tools kit?
The windshield can also be completely removed at the hinges
I am watching this but i dont even have a jeep
informative, but I wish you had more in you video about the driving experience with the window down.
It’s windy!!!!
Very nice
Thanks
A lot of time you can do a cpr motion on the bend kinda firm but not to break the glass It will pop right off
Where did you get those mirrors???
I made another video about the mirrors. They are motorcycle mirrors. Motorcycle mirrors are the perfect size to fit in the door hinges.
The 2020 wrangler Rubicon doesn't have that hole for a strap on the hood bumpers!!😢
Its perfect for hunting and safari or crawling not for roads and drive 60/80 km
True. It’s really uncomfortable to go fast with the windshield down.
Ok but what if your rear mirror is on the windshield?
Turn around
2:40 Mirror is on the frame, not the windshield. I had to go back and watch again, because that's a good question.
@@Threedog1963 mine has a wire going from the rear mirror to the top of the jeep I got told to unscrew the mirror but then itd be dangling from the roof of the jeep by the wire
did it really sound like pink?
Nope! That was a special effect.
Hawthorne?
Where you are find your side mirror
It’s a motorcycle side mirror. It fits in the door hinge nicely.
If you hit a bump wouldn't you get a spider crack?

Coming from someone who doesn't own a jeep lol, I imagine those black things are rubber and absorb most of the shock
Nope the windshield frame rest on the two rubber pads on the hood. CJs MB's and now Wranglers have collectively been doing this for over 85 years.
They use durable glass on jeeps... It's funny seeing a cop try to brake a window with a baton on one 😝
@CarterKench Carter doesn't know how to do this so I looked it up for him 😂😂
Wiggle it then you push down and it lifts off
Life saver!!! Thanks a ton! (even though I wouldn't have lost my life if I hadn't folded down the windshield)
You’re welcome
Now if only they made the sky one touch that easy. Hate that fucken thing!
Interesting. I don’t think I’ll ever fold down the windshield. It’s kinda weird.
I agree. there is no good reason to do it, and the wind is pretty bad over 40 miles an hour. But it’s nice to know you can do it if you want to.
I think it's supposed to be for off roading.
you haven't LIVED until you fold down the windshield!

Only glass comes down?? Old ones the whole things came down!!
Watch the video first
@@orangecayman520 I did. Same the frame stayed up
The rear view mirror is able to stay up since the frame is up, it doesn't drop with the glass.
Probably the safety nanny state pushed things in this direction for rollover protection. It's more for the beach, I assume.
Maybe so it's got some strength if you roll it?
Eh

Never knew this, but I'm sure it does kill your mpg
Yes everyone buys a jeep wrangler for an amazing mpg, a cow is more aerodynamic than a wrangler. Those things are about Funpergallon
