Thanks for the video! - I just got a Jeep Wrangler Sahara 2021 and this morning I removed the front hard top pannels following your instructions...no tools required, sweet! And the feeling when you drive it is so amazing...I had to wait until turning 60 to make my dream come true...owning a Jeep with a manual transmission...living the dream!...ok, ok, time to wake up to check the video to put the panels back on :) - cheers!
Glad I could help! Remember to like subscribe and share! Enjoy your Wrangler! Thanks for watching. Check out my door removal video too. Driving with no doors on is fun too!

Lmao thank God Jeep placed those two bolts there from 6:11 . I removed my interior cargo basket that reuses the six hard top bolts to fit a spare 40 on the rear. Just came back from an offroad trip, and I realized that I never put those bolts back... Driving down the freeway at 75mph with an unbolted hardtop could've been deadly to others.
I'm glad I went soft top on my JL. In CA we always have convertible weather and I put the top down ALOT. This looks like a total hassle AND you have to store the top pieces somewhere. If you put the top down on the soft top it's still attached to the Jeep. Much easier if you actually want to utilize the open air. Also, if you are out and decide you want the top back on it's still with you and not at home in the garage.
We got our 2021 rubicon in Sept 2020. My husband wanted this jeep so much, he got the tow pkg but I was bummed he didn't get waterproof seats. He picked up his new jeep the 3rd week of Sept and kept feeling super tired. Got diagnosed with leukemia Oct 3rd, he barely got to drive his jeep, he passed on June 18th. 18 month battle. I'm kinda stuck with it now, it's a man's vehicle, high, we put running boards but doesn't help me much. My husband was tall. Hunter and serious fisherman, this jeep was for him in mind, not me. We had a brand new 1984 Jeep Renegade CJ-7 which was AWESOME! EASY to remove hard top and put a soft top or bikini top on. Our girls were young and we had a blast going to Wildwood and Cape May. Thos Jeep for me is no good. Complicated, still ha e the plastic on inside for top that I'm never going to take off. I'm thinking of selling it and getting something practical. You made an excellent video. I have no idea where that tool kit is.
They come from the factory when you get a hard top. You should be able to get one from a jeep dealership. Here is one I found on ebay. They have 6 available. www.ebay.com/itm/325290277245?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=m2Xx5gWzRIG&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=c-IxxvWoQfG&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Thank you so much for this video, the hard top looks so much better but you will always need two people, soft top is so much easier.. I havent decided yet!
I badly want one. Jeep lovers swear by them and say they'll go well over a 100,000 miles (with proper and scheduled maintenance of course), and Jeep haters say they're utter crap, and there seems to be no gray area. That very much complicates the decision on making a $40K+purchase
Not to mention Wranglers hold their value like no other vehicle. You can own a Wrangler for 10 years and still sell it for 50% of sticker price easy. So, your $40,000 Wrangler will still be worth around $20,000 in 10 yrs
Great video - very helpful to understand hard tops on Jeep Wranglers! Two quick questions - do the hard tops on all Jeeps come similarly structured - meaning the 3-piece configuration? And how much does the big one weigh? (You mentioned 50 lbs for the front two together). Thanks!
All the factory hard tops have this configuration. The front pieces are always going to be the same weight. The back piece I would estimate to be about 100 lbs. The only thing that varies is from the 2 door to the 4 door the back hard top piece on the 2 door is bigger. Probably 5 to 10 lbs heavier too.
I am currently considering buying a 2-door version. Can one person take off and put on the hardtop on the 2-door wrangler? Also, do you have a similar video showing the process for the 2-door? I know the mechanics are the same, but was curious of the smaller and lighter hardtop for the 2-door was a lot easier to deal with.
What is the name of the piece that the electrical quick connect and washer wire hook to? My Used JL is missing that piece. Do you know where I can order one?
Can someone please please PLEASEEE tell me why the electrical connector to get off the hard top won’t disconnect. The hose is able to connect but the electrical one one budge and I’m pretty sure it’s not supposed to be this hard.
Honestly I have not heard of anyone "treating" them. My recommendation would be to just keep them clean. Cotton towel and water every 6 months or a year. You never know what different products might do to harm the seals in the long run. Anytime I've ever seen bad seals it seems to be out of neglect more than anything.
Watch closely how I do it on the electrical. There is a red Safety clip that has to be moved first and then a black clip that has to be pressed while pulling. The washer fluid also has a button you have to press.
You are so welcome! Glad I could help you out! Remember to like subscribe and share! If I saved you some money 💰 consider clicking the Super Thanks button below the video!
It’s always a blast removing it by yourself with no lift , still worth it. And yes you can remove it by yourself , it’s heavy and awkward but breaking and replacing is part of the fun of owning a jeep lol
Seems stupid to have to always rely on having an extra person handy and also always be looking ahead for weather. Soft top you don’t have to worry about either of those issues.
You could always get both! Hard top and soft top. If I lived in northern part of US, I would get a hardtop for sure. Here in the south, its only cold here a few months out of the year so a soft top would be fine (I have a soft top on my 2-dr Wrangler).
A relatively good informational video however I have two things two suggest. 1 show the actual compartment where you put the bolts when you take them out of the top so that people can understand they are secure and won’t get lost. 2 inform people watching that there are hard top removal systems that would allow you to do it by yourself rather than frighten the shit out of somebody that wants to take it off by themselves telling them it’s too heavy and they’ll break their back.
Frighten? It's called a warning, so people don't get hurt. Typically if people get the hard top lifts, they already do it and are not watching this video I would imagine. I could show the bolt holder.
Sorry I wanted to demonstrate all the steps. I wish I would have had my video when I had my Wrangler starting out. Which 90 seconds were most useful? I'll make an express video just for you.
“You want to put the skinny side by the top side like that” like what? They need someone less monotone to do these videos. Dude bored me to flip to another video

Totally understand. In Wisconsin we have the top up ALOT lol.
I’m in FL and you basically convinced me to make sure I go soft top in the future

Seems very complicated, I will go for soft top. Thanks for helping in my decision.
It is A Lot quieter on the road than a soft top
And also it is pretty easy if you know how to use a ratchet
Thank you so much for this video, the hard top looks so much better but you will always need two people, soft top is so much easier.. I havent decided yet!
You are welcome. I had both on my Wrangler. I think I liked the hard top better, but the soft top wasn't bad neither.
Thanks for the video! Now it’s clear how to do it.
Just got a nicely loaded one today. It is easier after watching your video.
Glad I could help!

Yes
Nice I can’t wait for summer time
I just can't wait for above zero
Where did you get the storage bag for the roof?? Much better than those I see on Amazon.
These are the bags that come from the factory. I could get a part number for you if you would like.
Yes, if you could provide part number. Ty

No the hookups are different.

The 2 door hardtop is lighter but is awkward and requires 2 people, but not as strong of people.
What is the name of the piece that the electrical quick connect and washer wire hook to? My Used JL is missing that piece. Do you know where I can order one?

Sorry for the stupid girly question but I am renting one for a week, can I drive with just the front pieces off?
Yes
Great video - the audio is a bit hard to follow with the echo. Suggestion - use a mike for future videos! :)
Hi, is this jl original or have you modified it with kit and 33" wheels? Thank you
Original
I just bought one and I'm loving it but I'm so sad I didn't know there were cases 😢 I don't have one
What if you are outside and it starts raining??
Where do I get the panel holders?
You can get them at a Jeep dealership or I'm sure you could find them on EBAY.
Thanks for the video! We haven't taken our off yetbut i feel a lot more confident now !
Glad I could help Dan! It really isn't that hard. You can do it.
This video made me want the soft top lol
It's actually not that hard once you've done it a couple times
I can’t get the quick disconnect parts off :(
Watch closely how I do it on the electrical. There is a red Safety clip that has to be moved first and then a black clip that has to be pressed while pulling.
The washer fluid also has a button you have to press.
My new ratchet isn’t ratcheting it has to go all the way around instead of back and forth like yours
You may need a new ratchet
