I saw them back in the early 80s...83 I think... Kean College NJ...maybe...! Anyway, I remember Jack's eyebrows hitting every bass note...It was incredible! I wish there was some video of that show...
These guys are the best. I only saw them once, with the Airplane in 1971, and I couldn't believe the bottom. Jack is to me the best bass player in Rock.
wow this youtube channell always posts the greatest videos of HotTuna. great performance.... magnificent jam.... words are not enought to describe Jorma 's music!
Hey Kids .....I bet your garndpa's can't rock like this ! These guys have been the best show on Earth for the past 50 years . And he owes it all to his wife's cooking and the secrete ingredients she puts in her foods
I've seen HT so many times I can't count. One of my most memorable shows was at some disco club on Long Island. Acoustic set. The sound went out. They continued playing. Maybe it was the drugs, but they were amazing. In fact, I'm sure it was the drugs. Sound came back on toward the end. Jorma and Jack. The best.
GE will be back with the boys after his run with Roger Waters... Who could have passed up THAT opportunity! See you at the Beacon Theater this weekend!
Yggdrasil is NOT a model of bass, it is the Norse God of the trees and roots that hold everything on Earth together. Casady's playing was first referenced as Yggdrasil on the Crown of Creation album. He's played Gibson, Steinberger, Alembic, Warwick, Fender, and yes Epiphone when they paid him to.
Yawn... The Yggdrasil bass was specifically credited on the Crown of Creation album and referred specifically to the Alembic. And Epiphone has NEVER PAID him to play the bass that he was personally instrumental in designing to HIS standards!
I used to love these guys when I was in high school. Now I think they are terrible. I'll never go to another live concert because I'm tired of being disappointed. I saw these guys seven times between 74-76 They put me to sleep.
Remember, the mix is made for the house, not for a recording, most of the time, unless they multi tracked the recording, and remixed later. I'll still take it!
Always loved the liner note's that said,
Jorma Kaukonen- Vocals, Guitar
Jack Casaday- Bass, Eyebrow
lolol

I love Jack . . . I always thought he plays with Jorma like Entwistle played with Townshend . . . like they're so in synch . . . .

Anybody know how or why Jorma ended up in rural Ohio?
Sobriety and a good deal on land
No, its not the Alembic...
Its the Jack Casady signature model Epiphone bass.

Close. Yggdrasil is actually the huge mythical tree that holds the nine worlds together in Norse mythology. Most sources refer to it as an ash.
come visit...
What is that little guitar?
Electric mando.
Skoota Warner, best since Billy Cobham
He's no Sammy Piazza. Sammy perfect for Jorma and Jack.

Yggdrasil Bass
i think steve kimock has a funky style of playing, while GE has a bluesier one
