Very informative. Many thanks for sharing👍🏻 I’ve often wondered how involved the door card removal would be, as I need to swap both of my O.S. external door handles, so mine will need to come off.
My door froze stuck the other day to mate the rubber round the top I sprayed them with a cheap alcohol and it opend. My mate just bought a Rover 75 today it failed it's Mot on a few small job's. He says he was looking for a project. Nice one mate good fix. 👍
My MG ZTT opens and closes ok in the cold but the doors won't lock again until the car is well warmed up which is a problem on short drives, any ideas on what to do to fix that?
@@mikesmith22050 I'd suggest taking the doorcards off and spraying the mechanisms with moisture repellant such as WD 40 and then spraying with silicone grease. It sounds like they are freezing up, this should help stop that.
Oh this seems like it may be the issue that my dads car is having. I’m going attempt this fix and hopefully it will work. If not then the door handles will probably need to be replaced. So hoping it’s this issue since it seems like a straightforward fix.
If the handles operate fine at all other times and inly play up in freezing weather then this should work and you hopefully won't need to replace anything :)
The mechanism is tucked under the metal frame of the door so you wouldn't be able to reach it. WD40 only chases the moisture away but won't stop it reforming.
Laugh out loud yeah it's British. British cars are awesome to drive and they're very responsive in the corners and a lot of fun but they're certainly not the most practical cars. Your meant to experience the weather when you on a British car. That's what we used to say back when we had MGs:-) you know if it's wet you get wet if it's hot you get hot it's a beautiful day you get the Beautiful Day. Oh the joys of owning a British car. Well I've got one too it's why I'm looking at your video :-)

Thanks for the video, looks like I'll be doing this sometime soon 🤦
I'm glad you found it useful 😊

Be good to see your buddy's 75 in one of your future videos!

Is this on mornings where it has been below freezing overnight?
@@split_pin Yeah well I live in Estonia at the moment so minus temp is common, I just bought it 6 months ago.

Thanks! I wasn’t sure if it was mechanical like that or electrical like a micro switch freezing up.
@@mikesmith22050 It's probably just the mechanism freezing. If it was doing it all the time though I'd think it might be something electrical.

did you seal the door chrome thingys?
No, good suggestion though!
@@split_pin i think thats how you getting the water inside, but thats just a guess :)
I have taken off door cards several times and it’s a tricky job. Can’t we just squirt WD40 between the glass and the top of the card? M.

I don’t have ice trouble with the OSF door, but I do have ice troubles with the OSR door.
Trickie job is the passenger mirror repair when remote has stopped working
