@superjumboracing You're welcome....Please could you tell me which brand of upholstery adhesive I should use to stick the material onto my Rover 75 Tourer headlining. Mine is out of the car and on a long table ready to have the material attached. I watched your headlining videos but didn't catch the name on the can of squirty adhesive that you used. Any help from you would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, in anticipation.....John. (John's MG Rover parts, here in Sunny Yorkshire).
Hi John, I hope I’m not too late, I missed the second part of your comment. I used “Fix-it adhesives, fast fix extreme high temperature spray adhesive” for the headliner and I used their standard high heat spray on the door cards. I also used a cheaper product called Trim-Fix adhesive high temperature adhesive spray. They all seemed to work well, but time will tell. I think the important part is it needs to be a high temperature adhesive. I hope that helps.
You use a drill , I used a simple stanley knife to cut the " mushrooms " away , had all four redone with genuine beige lether by a specialist , and drilled 2.5 mil. holes and screwed them together with 3 mil. screws and washers .
Hi bud, thanks a lot for putting this up. My CDTi door cards are now needing replacing so your How-To is dead useful.🙂 What area of material did you need for the four cards please? More specifically, what quantity did you order from AS Trim? Thanks.
Thanks for the comment! They sell the Milano foam backed as 1 metre x 1.5 metre sizes. I ordered 2 of these. Just check that it will be a continuous piece 2 M x 1.5 M. I think that is how the send it anyway, but better to check. I don’t think you could do it with just a one metre piece, you also really want to have the material running in the same direction. I messed up one door card, and destroyed the material when trying to unstick it. Good luck with it.
@@superjumboracingperfect info, thanks. I got a trial foam-backed swatch from AS which will work colour-wise, so am ordering in the next couple of days. I'll make sure to get one 2M x 1.5M piece. Car strolled through its MoT today so I'll get going with the cards soon. 🙂
Good news on the MOT! I ended up using around one and a half cans, but I messed up one door card and had to do it again. I think I used more adhesive than I maybe needed to, but I didn’t want the bond to fail. I think you could probably just use one can, but I can’t be sure on that. My most important tip, is to try and follow the dips in the door card, when putting the material on, and to try and get the material into the dips without stretching, if that makes sense? For instance, don’t lay the material flat down over the complete door card, then try and stretch it down into the dips/recesses.
Thanks for the comment. I have to admit I did all four door cards over seven days. I had to do a little bit when I had the time. I could probably have done them all in a day, but didn’t have a day to spare.
Many thanks for the heads up fella. Yeah I found someone to do it for 100 so quids in, I've purchased all the parts, plastic clips, HD glue etc but I'm guessing he's not aware of all the work required so have prepared myself in case I have to tackle it personally. With the awesome videos on here I'm already super confident
I have the little hairspring for the rear door winder handle. Let me know if I can help. Brilliant video by the way. Respects.
Thanks for the offer of help with the hairspring. I did find one in my spares though, but thanks anyway.

The leather sounds nice! 👍🏼
Nice video. Quesrion: whitch model Blaupunkt multimedia car system is mounted in your ZT?
It’s a Navall Star. it’s a pretty old Chinese unit.
There is a newer system made by Ersin now.

Also meant to ask how many cans of adhesive did you use please?

If you had someone who could assist you, to hold the material as you work it down, that would be really helpful.
I hope it goes well!
Hi, what make of spray glue did you use and where did you sauce the material from?
I ordered the material from AS trim. The material is the Milano foam backed in silver.
The adhesive is called Trim-fix adhesive, it has a temperature rating up to 110 degrees. It’s in a silver and red spray can.

I don’t know how much someone would charge to do it, but I suppose it could be quite a bit!
Good luck with your door card project.
