I enjoyed this short film. His fear, his hesitation, at his first pride parade......and finally, in the end, at least the audience is left with the hope that he's learning to accept. And to follow his desires.....even if he did hesitate for a moment, he followed in the end. Sweet, hopeful!
A nicely done short! People don't understand the trepidation that comes with Coming Out, not just to family or friends, but with coming into the gay community. I saw myself and my friends in this film. Beautiful and subtle.
I liked the way the filmmaker just encouraged young people not to give up , to keep searching for a way to connect, in any way possible. I preferred that the story did not define what happened next. It was getting to that point that was so important.
Being as OCD as I am I'm glad that there are subtitles on this now. There weren't the first time I saw it. I DO wish that they'd continued on through the credits though. I'm curious if the writer, director or actors went on to other things and I can't even look them up since my Hebrew sucks.
+C A Campbell Wentworth Miller starred in the movie, "Dinotopia" and in the TV series, "Prison Break." Now he's Captain Cold in the TV series, "The Flash." He came out as gay a few years ago. Wikipedia has the most information on him. Google his name and you will also find photos of him.
+jmaraf77 : Right! I was a fan when he was the central character in Prison Break. In those days I didn't learn actors' names, no matter how much I admired their work. Now I show my respect by trying to get to know them as people first, artists, second.
Subtitles : He gets into the tel-aviv center, asks the precels seller: " where's the beach" then he answers the phone to his girl friend and says : "im stuck at work ill be late let's prospone the date (or whatever)" then when he is getting wierd the dude asks him " are you O.K" and he answers "yes" that's it. you're welcome.
Ps, when the older man asks if he is ok I wondered if that is a common practice. Certainly not in any country I know. Concern for a stranger and offering assistance. That has been lost in much of the world. I was grateful for the subtitles. I do like sound of the Hebrew language but it is very difficult to learn. Thank you for sharing this short film. I've seen a couple of full length Israeli films on this theme that were brilliant if not heartbreaking.
And....what do YOU do to reinstate the practice of expressing concern for strangers, and following through in that concern? Hopefully your actions aren’t a “hit and miss” practice, but rather a constant and deliberate way of life! Meaning: you make a point to express concern, and follow through, with every stranger you meet.
To be honest I lived in Israel in the 2000 for 7 years to be exact and the Israeli society is nothing like other societies lived in a few latin countries and grew up in US east coast and now in the south of the country and to be truthful people in Israel are genuine and they do really show concern for others.
Thank you for "Fist Time" i would like it doest end so quick... I love the way you use the focus and how the city appears. You tell a lot in few things... Thierry from Paris
I wonder how he is doing now. Had he fully explored and discovered himself, and has he found love? Is life happy for him? Be well. Be happy. Be YOU. May peace, love & joy be in you and in your life forever. 🏳️🌈☮️❤️🧡💛💚💙💜☮️🏳️🌈
I hadn't noticed that. Thanks for pointing it out. Maybe the thumbs down are people who disapprove of gay rights, and Israel, or both. This little film is so about young people, anywhere, everywhere, people who are perceived as different, searching for the freedom to just be who they are.
He wants to embrace his blossoming gayness for the first time =D...not really a waste of time, reminds me of my youth, that little lie to his girlfriend and that anxiety to or not to follow that guy on the bus...cute little film, thanks...=)
+Rafael Pereira You're welcome...=)...I kinda like the way the film-maker made use of the Gay Pride celebration for that young man to finally decide what he really wants. He probably had jitters for checking on that parade and beach party, but following that guy on board the bus made it clear that, yeah, he's gay! hahaha...and it's good he finally did something about it....I think it's a matter of how much you can relate to this little film that's why most people found it a little bit boring...=)
I'm not at all fluent in Hebrew. Thanks for clarifying who he was talking to on the phone and a little of what the conversation was about. I didn't have a clue! ☺️
+Michael Soverano: this film was not at all boring to me! I was remembering the smells, sights, sounds of Tel Aviv at first. Then I did so identify with the loneliness of marginalization - the sense of not belonging in any community/world - straight or gay. Happy New Year 2016! May the liberation movement move forward, steadily, peacefully, if possible, all over the world! 💪❤️🔥
This movie is ancient. They wouldn't let anyone be that near a parade of any kind with a backpack like the main character has. It's like Terrorism 101.
It accurately shows the feeling and the mindset of a person who seems to be lost, not knowing who he is, or where he is going to or what he is living for. It's always this way when you set your foot on the wrong path - just emptiness and confusion. Some people ask in comments "what is next?". There is nothing next, that is the point. Even more emptiness and insecurity inside.
very conveniently you omit the homophobic and hate culture rooted in society and that has historically been the cause of what you point out, the problem is not homosexuality, the problem is people like you that abound in society, the problem is society and its prejudices, if that culture of hatred, stigmatization and discrimination against homosexuals did not exist, none of that fear would exist because everyone in society would assume homosexuality with the same naturalness with which heterosexuality is assumed
This brings up a wave of feelings. I do remember what he is feeling. Although there was NO visibility of an homosexual world when I was his age. No parades, no internet Nada, niente, rien, garnichts. But the feelings of seeing something, wanting to be part of it, terrified maybe to be one of them, attracted and repelled all at the same time. Racing heart, conflicted emotions, feelings along with a sexual undertone. You long to be part of and yet run far away. For this lad in some ways more difficult than when I was his age. There IS the visibility, positive laws and more support but also today we know exactly how much hate there is against us and how many enemies we have. When I was already a boy I could perceive the negative feeling of society against those few effeminate men people saw and made derogatory comments against. But I had no idea there was actually a society of homosexual men living out their lives and certainly had no sense of the tidal wave of vitriol and hate the society had against homosexuality. Yes, I was bullied and once beaten by some nasty young thugs when I was myself 18 but that for me did not represent all of humanity. Today young people, we all know that a good portion of this world population would like to make us disappear even to the point of mass extinction. It is difficult for me to imagine this Israel. I was there in 1979 and 1981 and at that time had the impression that if homosexuality was not a capital offence people would have liked it to be. There was no freedom, understanding or acceptance. Of course we all know why. The entire prejudice and hate originated in Leviticus and was spread by Christianity and them Islam. Once the bigotry was written it gave free license to all sexually repressed men to take up the banner to persecute in the name of their mythological god.
great short film. gay pride parties were never my fear, it was the bad techno music that kept me away! Still - it's good to see pride parties being held across the globe. I'm still searching for that gay indy rock party ;)
5 of 10 stars What's here is interesting to watch and the main character is cute enough but the film is WAY too short to satisfy. But then... that often happens with one's First Time. Given the number of films with the title of First Time on IMDb this one is impossible to find there.
Not in the transcript above: the little "tsk" sound he makes after he looks at his cellphone at 0:51 is an Israeli expression meaning "no." The next word he says is an English four-letter word which I won't repeat here.
@keepH0lding0n123,THANKS MY FRIEND!,APPRECIATE!!.But any way,I would like to watch this movie enterely,so do you know how can I?,thank you,and have a good luck...
I just read about Israel and is amazing the way they accept and have laws to protect homosexuals from hate. Good video, and I was wondering as everybody here about "It looks like an arabic country". Gotta visit Isrrael, greetings from Costa Rica.
hey @nirsanirsa,hello!,how's everything?,excuseme, can I know what's the name of this movie?, where is it from?,and,in what country "suppousely" is happening this movie?,please... Otherwise, where can I see it in whole?,appreciate, bye bye...
It’s in Israel, a country wonderful for gay rights. This was not a summary; it was the entire short film. A chap in the comments wrote the entire dialogue in English, in case you cannot get subtitles to work.
He sat down in the end, the stranger sat next to him it was the placement of the PINK bag and his knee taping the bag, like the foot tap in a bathroom stall,
love love love. Also, reminded me of my first time, but for me it was not a gay parade but a gay district. Find out that your gay and that there are other gay boys are fun...and then you find out that they are mean..not fun. hehe
The young man suspects he is not 'straight', ie. heterosexual. So he goes to a place where he knows that there is a gay rights movement. He attends a gay pride parade, a gay pride beach party. But he doesn't join in, doesn't connect. Then sitting at a bus stop, feeling even more lonely and discouraged, he's offered a chance to connect with one gay man. He accepts the invitation and has taken another step towards connecting and belonging, finding out who he is.

No need for subtitles, I understood exactly what he was feeling. Great work!!!! Thanks for sharing.
What a beautiful young man. So conflicted with his feelings. A great acting job. He's really cute.
A nicely done short! People don't understand the trepidation that comes with Coming Out, not just to family or friends, but with coming into the gay community. I saw myself and my friends in this film. Beautiful and subtle.
O man that was a great beach party in 2010, I’m from Ireland and went with some guy from Iceland and it took us two days to leave. What an experience
This young man felt disconnected with the gay world until he sat next to the other fellow at the bus stop. I wish there had been more to the story.
I liked the way the filmmaker just encouraged young people not to give up , to keep searching for a way to connect, in any way possible. I preferred that the story did not define what happened next. It was getting to that point that was so important.
Great cinematography! We who have "been there" understand it, even without subtitles.

Wonderful film. It reminded me of my uncertainty when I was younger.
He packed a backpack and everything 😭😭😂 I really hope he went. I hate these ambiguous endings! But this was a good short. Thanks for sharing.
Boy, I know how he feels. It's tough at first, but you can make it! Bravo!
I really liked this film and can completely relate to it. I remember my first time...
Somehow, the young guy reminded me of a young Wentworth Miller...
Who is Wentworth Miller? I've never heard of him.

+C A Campbell same here!!
When he was part of the cast of Popular at 2000...
Subtitles :

@marky2tm
Hi. This is not part of a bigger movie. Just a short one I've shot last year.
Lovely and well done. 👍😀
Loved it, do you have a version with english subtitles? Thanks
Thanks for summarizing the meaning and moral of this shortmovie. I was having a hard time with a language I don't understand.
Ps, when the older man asks if he is ok I wondered if that is a common practice. Certainly not in any country I know. Concern for a stranger and offering assistance. That has been lost in much of the world.

You're able to see the subtitles by just turning on the captions at the nav bar at the bottom of the video.
Great short movie,,,,even without audio,,,the story is perfectly understandable

Hi Demetri,
This is a short film and it can be found with audio track at vimeo
Thanks,

I really liked the First young guy. Very Cute. It was a smart Short Film.
That was wonderful. I don't understand why there are so many thumbs down.

Probably because everyone thought it was going to be a first sexual experience.

i wish we had subtiles. the message of courage and love got through.
The protagonist does not seem to be very evil but the language in this film is very strange, also the letters. Is it an experimental language ?
I, too, remember that first inviting smile...
holy all these comments are years old
This brings me to the memory of the few feet it takes to be in the gay district of New Orleans on bourbon. I remember doing the exact thing.
wow, I did not know that, just told my fathers that...they are looking to travel this summer to Asia, now they know where...
The film is 4:16 long and you can skip the first 3 mins without missing anything 😂.
Muito bom! Roteiro e direção sensíveis. Todos os dilemas, curiosidades, desejos e conflitos presentes no corpo do ator. Amei!
He gave him the look. Enough to decide.
it ended just as it got good
Who is the main chatacter? He is so cute!

I don't know much about Tel Aviv, or what it's like to be gay there but this was a awesome little short. It was cute!
Your message is excellent. I hope you find a way to peace in your heart and mind.
I relate to this a lot... I acted the same way when I went to my first LGBT event.

That car honk at 3:52 startled me. But good video.

someone explain this from start to finish.

@ldcreateart11 Thanx man. It's nice to hear!!
It´s sad that I wasn´t able to understand anything! I´d like to see it with English or German subtitles...

There are English subtitled on iPhone.
Yeah, just turn on the captions in the gear menu (or three dots in Android) and set to "English"

If you turn you volume to 100%, stand on your head naked and sing Jingle Bells you can hear everything just fine.
Los subtítulos no son necesarios en este cortometraje, se entiende perfectamente el mensaje: sal del closet y atrévete a vivir tu vida!
Well, don't wanna sound rude but this video gives nothing. Maybe you can load some meaning to it cos it was shot during gay pride day but come on, what's purpose?
Why is the title in English if nothing else is in English? Downvotes for clickbait.
