Man that flange makes all the difference. It’s those little details that make it something special 👍🏻 Looks like an exhaust flange you would see on a Ferrari. That’s gonna be one trick 55 when you’re done
If everybody did the work like you do Rob or even a little close to .The word HACK would dissapear from the auto world of fabricating and modifying,LOL! If I ever had fenderwells on my 55 which I like and never will,LOL .I would cut them inner fenders similar to yours too.... I do have a spare set too real nice job looks like factory .....
I did the same thing, minus the flange on my old 55 with Fenderwell headers many years ago. When I needed to remove / install the headers, I just pulled the fenderwells loose and did a whole lot of finagles (technical term) to R&R the header. I do like the notion of a flange though. Now you got me thinking about doing the same thing on my 57 Bel Air SC! Great work Rob!
I greatly enjoy watching your videos, great detail in your explanations and the results speak for themselves. Your wife must be an amazing and patient woman to let you pursue your passion the way you do (and give up the garage lol). tri five fans are always looking for new subtle ideas, you are very creative.
That's pretty cool I like what you did for the headers. You have a lot more patience and great talent! I have a 55 210 2 door so it's fun to watch you fab stuff.
Here's a trick for you , to raise the front end with disc brakes . I use a g body lower A arm . Cut the ballpoint area off and graft it onto the stock lower A Arm . This uses the larger ball joint and it points upward . Then put g body lift spindles on . Gives all stock gm bearings and brake assemblies , and hoses. Stock Bearings and shocks . Stock ride and alignment. With 3.5 inches of lift . Measure twice cut once .
have you thought about making a two pc inner fender, so you could remove the portion around the header and have plenty of room to move it around. two ways you could do it , horizontal or longitudnal. both would look clean with the fasteners.
I thought about it but the bottom line is = The headers shouldn't ever need to be removed with the engine in the car. They move away from engine 4 to 5 inches and it's enough room to pull engine, just the cylinder head, or change gaskets. The look of it right now, I love. No seams or fasteners. It's simple and clean.
I cut my inner fenders up from the bottom on my 57 the 55 I am building I’m gonna try your method instead of having a cover that bolts around the headers.

I have to say sir I really enjoyed watching you ream your hole.
It is about the quality, and that takes time. Not as much as when an apprentice does it, but the difference shows. Thanks for sharing.
Just like David Copperfield, working your magic. Very nice!

Love what you did to the fender to accommodate the header. Pretty cool. Wonderful work again.
Your idea of making a removable cover / flange around the cutout sounds like the thing to do and it will look great.

Smart to keep the inner fenders and your solution is very clean.
Truly a great craftsman! Thanks!
Great content. Your work on that fender is just amazing. I am really looking forward to watching each step on this build. The flange looks great.

I'm not raising the front end. Not building a gasser style car. It will be lower in front and jacked up in the rear like late 70's to early 80's.

Flip front clip
Were it not for the bad words it wouldn't have come close to fitting ......had to do same
I will have you some tools for the channel someday when the time comes if you want them at that said time
Oh I love tools. I appreciate you watching, commenting, and keeping me motivated. It is MUCH appreciated.
Where do you order the 3/4 forward side motor mounts and transmission crossmember at ?
I bought the kit from ebay but it sucks
Headers are such a pain in the butt, good grief.
