Amateur video logs of project cars and automotive related stuff. I've been building and restoring classic vehicles since 1992 and thought other like minded people might be interested in seeing my low budget projects. I like all classic and antique vehicles. roberthaff@sbcglobal.net

Steve's 55 - Tried to do some detail work but failed

Was trying to paint inlays on valve covers, air cleaner, etc. I gave up on trying to mask the parts. This could probably be done but not without going way over on estimate. I would also need a new exacto knife blade and a stickier masking tape which would be more money. Best to just throw in the towel.

I find this style of "how to" extremely helpful. He said it himself: "You can find the assembly sequence in several places", such as the '55'56 assembly manuals. What you can't find very often is coverage of all the little things that can go wrong or new parts that don't quite fit. Thank you!
Great video where do you get the gaskets I’m been looking for pair
Again Thanks!!
oil separetor and pcv check!
You're a better skilled Craftsman than the other so-called professionals just want you to receive your full credit man
Wow you must of been a good man for sure that's what you call ture love.
Wow you got enough dirt there for almost to start a garden. 😅Hahahahahahaha 😅
Yea spray paint them no body will no the difference.
I hope you where able to find out the price for all those parts. Or you can pre-soake all those nut and bolts. I also want to say your doing a great job on Steve's car.
Beautiful 55!!
It seems on a daily basis you find bad workmanship by the shop that did Steve's car originally . I've said this before they need to be exposed, there screwing people daily. Your work is totally awesome.
those windows were left down for years
Could you use an original steering wheel, column and steering g box from my 57 Chevy? I would give it to you.
The steering box will work but column and wheel are different. I'd love to have your gear box but shipping it would be tough. The shaft does not come out of the box so it would be really long for packaging. I could use a good box. If you think you can ship, let me know.
@ what part of Oklahoma do you live? My company has a plant in Wagoner Oklahoma. Are you anywhere near there?
SOB!! That sucker is hard to drill..how did you drill the hole
Hi! Im trying to find my cars problem. In fact, his jerking a bit around 1500-2000 when i go off the gas pedal. Secondly, at the same rpm after releasing the gas pedal, it accelerates 1 or 2 seconds by itself. I was wondering if fuel pump was the problem... Thanks you in advance!
I don't know. Computerized stuff can be hard to track down sometimes. Go to a Fiat 500 specific forum and search the issue or ask them. Online forums are a great source of problem solving.
Great video! Thanks for all the tips for all of us do it yourselfers! Do you have part numbers for orange desiccant filters and also toilet paper style filter on end of blow gun? Thanks again!
these are great videos - thanks for sharing! can i ask where you get (or do you have a link) to what you used for your metal speaker grill mesh? i have been looking that for a similar type project, but no luck so far!....thank you.
The metal mesh came from a paperwork organizer from Walmart or Office Depot. Go to the stationary dept just about anywhere.
A bunch of great info Danny, thank you very much👍🏼
Wow I purchased so much stuff from temu...you just have to watch some good stuff and there's some crap the third party stuff is usually pretty good..
Rob, im glad you’re finally fashionable!
😎👍😎
Looking at the bumper mounting hardware gives me shivers thinking about the many years back in the 60s when I used the factory bumper jack on my 55 and 60 Fords.
Thanks for the tip on drilling acrylic....never thought of doing that.
Check your stanless with a magnet, but it depends on the nickel content.
Fixing to watch the new show man appreciate it
I should have waited to make my comment!! Good call!!
Calculate your labor and if it’s cheaper to redo old brackets, redo them. If not have Steve buy new ones!
just in time
Hey Danny, always love all the customs touches you do, you and Steve will have to go to a show together once his is done, would be something to be very proud of having those cars side by side! Man I felt so bad for when that hinge bolt broke, I can’t believe how much you had to redo on that car that was hacked by the previous builder! If I recall when you started doing Steve’s car you still had a full head of hair! Lol Have a great weekend!
Shut up and fix it you whining ass baby.
At 22:15 you were explaining the install of the custom cover plate you made. You mentioned a certain type of bolt or screw you use for thinner metal or steel. I listened 10 times, and can't really understand what you said. Can you please let me know what that is? You do fabulous work, and I love your explanations. Thank you so much for taking the time.
I finally put in my earpods, and it sounds like FINE THREAD BOLTS. Worked around jet engines for 42 years. I think I am going deaf... LOL
Awesome job and video
Haff , are the hinge bolt plates in the door removable on 1955 210 sedan ? Unfortunately, mine are stripped out to the point I can’t tighten or remove the bolts and need to be replaced..
Yes, they just lay in there but will not come out with bolts in them.
@ thank you,Sir !!! Just recently came across your UA-cam videos they are awesome and so helpful..!! Again thank you !!🙏
Wondering if u had any video on this topic
Was wondering what opera or sail panel lights you used on your black hardtop. I have a 56 and their is round flat spots for them but don’t know if they need to be hollowed out to sit down or if they screw down on the flat spots
U can used Plummer putty
That stuff is too messy. The camper top seal is clean, it seals it, and adjustments can be made easily.
Good stuff
I saw fire when that bolt broke. I'm going through the same thing of correcting others mistakes.
I had both bolts break in that lower plate and spent hours getting it out, then drilled it and re-tapped it. Then I spent hours trying to get the correct bolts back it. My plate was dropping to low every time, too. I was able to tape it in place, then finally got the threads started, then pulled the tape out. It was a royal pain.
Nice touch on the custom plate man
Great description of the hackery on the nut plate! You showed how you planned to reinstall the nut plate with the wire, how were you able to get it out from behind the A pillar? I'm working on my doors and am soaking up all of your descriptions, thanks much!
You are a TRI 5 MASTER TECHNICIAN
This is a really important video. Thank you so much for explaining how the shims are used correctly
My New saying is YOU want to BE DISAPPOINTED DEPEND ON SOMEONE ELSE.Stupid people make life hard. Keep up the Good fight Danny.
When I rebuilt my 283 in my 57 4 door sedan in high school the shop teacher had some small paper bags from napa and told me to bag the bolts from every part I was taking off and take a marker and label the bag of what it was. That was 1984. Was a good thing to learn
Very helpful. Just getting ready to put the front clip on my ‘55 Nomad. Had to change the frame on my car so it’s the first time my body and front clip have been together on the replacement frame. Steve’s car is going to get finished if you’re not careful!
Excellent video! Lots of detail! Thank you for the effort! There’s a lot of people that don’t know how to read and write nowadays. Mailman included. We live in a different world than even 10 years ago. Anyway thank you for the great videos! I have a 57 that I have used your ideas on. P.S. I live in OKC
