YouNeverKnow Nah I didn't mean his comedy routine i meant the back and forth with carson. mainly how they flowed so well back and forth. its one thing to write your lines and perform them its another to script a talk show interaction.
You can't seem to sit and watch a world class comedic talent like the great Rodney Dangerfield without cracking up. The man was in a class by himself and is always hilarious! (RIP) Rodney Dangerfield.
The world lost one of the greatest when Rodney Dangerfield passed away, RIP Rodney. Sadly, Mr. Dangerfield will be missed but I'm so glad we are able to see him on video for years to come.
germslover666 Even before he died, he was joking. I remember before he went in for his surgery he said something like "If it goes well, I'll see you all in a few days. If it doesn't, I'll see you all in about 45 minutes." LOL!
There will never be another Rodney, truly the funniest man of all time, and how he helped his new comics just comming up is a testament to his character. I had the pleasure of watching his biography on youtube. Check it out, very happy and a very sad life!
One of my all time favourite comedians. And the expression on his face, especially the googly eyes bit, he sets up the punchline with such precision and the laughter knocks you over. I miss him.
PURE GENIUS SAW HIM AT THE MGM VEGAS 2001!!!! LOVE YA MAN RIP MY FRIEND ! you were the KING of COMEDY now you"re with THE KING OF KING'S !!!! GOD BLESS YOU FOR ALL THE HUMOR YOU SHARED WITH THE WORLD !!!!
Those legendary comedians and comediennes full of immeasurable talent...the list are too endless to mention. Their presence, timing, physical gestures, and above all, class, without a single thought of swearing. We will never ever witness such crafts so tremendously done in the twentieth century that kept us all doubling over from laughter.
Richard Marshall Bowman Because they knew the next thing that would break was the coffin he'd be placed in. AYO! If only he knew the respect that followed with him.
" Easy Money" with Joe Pesci! Classic!! My favorite Rodney movie! I was 20 in 1983 when it came out! Life is ........................................flying by!!
Not only Rodney at his best but a great film he's promoting as well. Great to see Johnny as well, I wish we had one late night host worth half what he was. Late night today blows.
love the comment,....reading what you read I just remember that back then that's just who you were, their personalities coming through conformity wasn't the standard and they just wanted to make a living,.....
Best joke yet! "A natural"..........A casual glance at the man's biography would suggest otherwise........He very likely would have told you himself that he practiced these jokes again, and again, and again and again......and then again some more. 100 hours of work went into any ten minute set; The selection and order of the jokes, the timing of every syllable, every goofy mannerism. He polished it all to deliberate perfection, worked his ass off to get them just right, all to make it look so effortless. No one should begrudge him his success, but to say he was a natural instead of someone looking for fame really misses the mark. Please, pull yer' head out, don't insult the man by being the internet dildo who brilliantly observes what a "natural" he was. By most accounts, he was a profoundly depressed individual, who through sheer force of will and practice managed to reliably shine like this whenever he was on stage; But as soon as the "show" was over, he crashed hard and reverted to his true form, every single miserable night. That's my stupid-ass internet comment, am I a member of the community of idiots yet?
jfg637 he was a LEGEND! He still is even if he’s not around anymore! They said when he did his audition for the movie Caddyshack they said he came in wearing a full plaid suit and set down and unbuttoned his shirt jacket, and pants and pulled out a big lump of cocaine and put on the table and put it into 3 separate lines and said “Let’s eat!” 😂😂
Rodney makes me laugh so easy. His delivery is effortless. Miss all the comedians from my era. Dangerfield Rickles,Pryor,Foxx ect ect. Great era for comedians. They blessed us with laughter. Can't beat that. Rodney is my favorite.
Idk mitch hedberg or steven wright is on the same level as mr dangerfield when it comes to one liners. However mr dangerfield could tell a story too. As far as writing one liners I think its a tie between mitch or steven. But performing them its a tie between steven or mr dangerfield.
I saw Rodney live in NYC. I was dragged there by my friend. I didnt think I would enjoy an old one liner comedian. He blew me away. He was constantly heckled by people in the audience and he threw it back at them with the quickest wit and precision I have ever seen. He was a master at his craft. I love his movies too.
The epitome of comic timing. Saw him live once. Someone yelled from the audience, "Hey Rodney, did you ever have group sex? Rodney said, "Yes, at my divorce hearing. The jury f'd me."
One of the best classic comedians of all time. He was clean and funny. It was safe to take your kids to see him. I'm not even 50 and I've been a fan of his for 40 years. October 6, 2004 was a sad day for comedy.
Dangerfield was the best, with his continual barrage of hilarious gags and one liners and delivered with perfect timing and his familiar dry wit. A true comic LEGEND ( R. Dangerfield RIP)
No matter who we are there is a time in our lives we can all relate to Rodney; "We don't get no respect." Perfect timing, great material, stellar sense of self-deprecating humor and, on top of all of that, he's so very likeably and relatable. Rodney seems like someone you can live next door to, not some wealthy superstar. Damn, Rodney Dangerfield was incredible!
I was so thrilled to see Rodney Dangerfield on one of my last trips to Vegas. It was so funny I was crying tears. The jokes just roll over his lips one after another. He is such a natural, the material covers so many aspects of his humor. He was one of the best I have ever seen live & on the Carson Show.. Our seats were great, so I was really able to see all his fascial expressions & those huge eyeballs roll. His movies were also just full of jokes just one after another. I true genius in his own right. Johnny Carson always had a great line up of the very best talent in the world. The whole program was & always be the unique because of Caron's on fantastic genius. Even as today, No late night program can hold a candle to the ( THE TONIGHT SHOW WITH JOHHNY CARSON) NEVRER WILL THERE BE.
Rodney and a couple of drinks and he's the undisputed king of comedy. Funniest guy who ever lived. Even on his gravestone it says "There goes the neighborhood". True comedian. First time I ever saw him was on Ed Sullivan, been laughing ever since.
Thomas Bealy I agree that the son was kind of a douche... and not just the character but the actor Keith Gordon... who was also a douche in Christine too. It's just that actor. Easy Money is great though!
let's not muck around people the son in Back To School was a complete carnt you just wanna punch his face in. Same as the nerd caddy in other movie. both ridiculous nothings with great like rodney, chevvy, bill, ted etc carrying them. not sure i've seen easy money. now i'm excited."how about a calendar?" hahahaha
Rodney was one of the best of all times. You laugh so hard you can't breathe. And Johnny Carson was the King of late night. Add in Ed McMahon with his infectious laugh and there was nothing better then or certainly now.
Thetripletman60 He was a joke telling machine gun. Can't catch your breath from the last joke and he's firing another. Johnny adding just enough to set him up. Two pros. None better.
His honesty was what made him so likeable to me, jokes about real life stuff that he thinks about, and in turn, turns them into one liners, but more than that. Perfect for the time.
"Yeah, I was making love to this girl and she started crying..........I asked her if she's going to hate herself in the morning, she said No I hate myself right now".
@Rick- That was classic Rodney. I remember as a kid seeing him on TV shows as this guy I didn't know who always said, "I get no respect at all.' He was great!
The only comedian that makes me laugh EVERY TIME ! He was a genius. He will never be replaced. There is nobody around today who is half as funny as this man. Thank God for old tapes and You Tube !
Favorite Dangerfield joke" "I tell the cabbie, I'm in a randy mood, take me where a guy is sure to get some action. . . .he drops me off at my house!".
x1134x .... Yeah, My favorite Rodney Dangerfield joke; "Wanna see something funny???...Look at a porn flick on rewind and watch the hooker give back the money"!!!...This was one of his jokes told during the time when VCRs were still in trend. He gets ALL MY RESPECT! ! !
It took me like seven seconds of intense concentration to get that joke. By the time I did, it wasn't funny anymore. That summarizes my experience watching this clip.
Man, was he great. Rapid fire, one after the other. It's the speed at which he rattles them off that creates the hysterical effect. He starts firing the next joke as soon as the laughter starts to fade, amazing timing, creates kind of a continuous stream of laughter or the joke being delivered. No silence.
DANGERFIELD ONE THE GREAT BY NOT ONLY OF WHAT HE SAID ,BUT HIS TIMING WAS PERFECTION AND I KNOW THIS MAN IS MISSED. TO -WORLD OF ROCK 4 YOU - THANKS FOR THIS JOYOUS MOMENT OF COMIC HISTORY.
He was the greatest. These kids these days have no idea what those days were like. Now...just look down at your phone and enjoy what used to be reality, in fact life is chasing you every second. Miss those days.
Kudos to Johnny for simply letting Rodney do his thing without getting in the way.
SingleTax ....Johnny Carson has always been a class act.
The way it flowed seemed scripted
+Jack Anderson all comedians are scripted! hahaha they write their own jokes! what do you think comesians "freestyle " like rappers? haha
YouNeverKnow Nah I didn't mean his comedy routine i meant the back and forth with carson. mainly how they flowed so well back and forth. its one thing to write your lines and perform them its another to script a talk show interaction.
YouNeverKnow I'm not sure about Rodney but a lot of the old school comedians had teams of writers. They wrote some themselves too.
My favorite Rodney line. "When I was born the Doctor said to my mother, "Im sorry, I did all I could do, but he survived."
jeremy crowder mine was "I told my wife we should take out a home improvement loan she gave me $10,000 dollars to move out"
jeremy crowder 😂😂😂😂😂
The line was “but he pulled through.”
“... did all I could but he pulled through anyway”
You can't seem to sit and watch a world class comedic talent like the great Rodney Dangerfield without cracking up. The man was in a class by himself and is always hilarious! (RIP) Rodney Dangerfield.

Nicholas Totoro
I don't get it???
He delivers his lines like no one else, seamless, u dont need to swear in every sentence to be funny...one of the greatest comedians ever.
He was the best. He made us laugh, gave us light-hearted humor. We could really use some of that nowadays.
thanks
There will never be another Rodney, truly the funniest man of all time, and how he helped his new comics just comming up is a testament to his character. I had the pleasure of watching his biography on youtube. Check it out, very happy and a very sad life!

Yes, he was one of my favorites too. Very funny! :D
One of my all time favourite comedians. And the expression on his face, especially the googly eyes bit, he sets up the punchline with such precision and the laughter knocks you over. I miss him.
Carson the ultimate pro.never interrupted
EARL PORTER Unlike these losers today who think the show is about them.
Yeah but he also knew when to play the straight man
RJ 1999
Conan isn't bad.
Yep. CNN talking heads could take some pointers from Carson.
He was too busy laughing his ass of like the rest of us!
I saw Rodney live twice, 1981 and 1991. His ability to smack down a heckler in the audience was priceless.
One of a kind.
Who else could go on Carson, do 5 minutes, then sit on the couch and do another 10 minutes?
This man's life is a study in patience. He is the perfect role model for adults.

Best timing and delivery, he makes it look effortless. What a gem
" Easy Money" with Joe Pesci! Classic!! My favorite Rodney movie! I was 20 in 1983 when it came out! Life is ........................................flying by!!
Simply no one that could replace him, Don Rickles and so many other great comedians that we've lost.
Not only Rodney at his best but a great film he's promoting as well.
Great to see Johnny as well, I wish we had one late night host worth half what he was. Late night today blows.
It's really a shame we don't have comedians like Rodney anymore
A natural instead of someone looking for fame. I miss the greats!
Hilarious. Rest in Paradise Rodney.

Im watching Easy money right now. One of my favorite movies as a kid. R.I.P. Rodney Dangerfield
jfg637 he was a LEGEND!
Cody Olson lmao. I have to agree he was original. Definitely one of the greatest. He'll always get my respect 😃😃😃😃😃.
gotta love the audience participation- really brings it to life. I watch this over and over. nowadays we don't have great comedy like this.
Best Rodney Dangerfield line: My grandfather wanted me on his lap just before he died. He was in the electric chair.
Rodney makes me laugh so easy. His delivery is effortless. Miss all the comedians from my era. Dangerfield Rickles,Pryor,Foxx ect ect. Great era for comedians. They blessed us with laughter. Can't beat that. Rodney is my favorite.

Johnny Carson is one cool cat, he knows when to interrupt.
The King of the one-liner jokes. Rodney, may your soul rest in peace, and thank you for oh so many laughs.
Idk mitch hedberg or steven wright is on the same level as mr dangerfield when it comes to one liners. However mr dangerfield could tell a story too. As far as writing one liners I think its a tie between mitch or steven. But performing them its a tie between steven or mr dangerfield.
No one left like Rodney and Rickles anymore
Worshiped Rodney, Rickles was just annoying
Stan Jeffrey - Maybe you're like a neutered dog.... you don't get it. Rickles ruled!
I've been watching more of these since the death of late night TV comedy.
Rodney Dangerfield and Don Rickles,in my opinion, are probably the best ever.

One of the greatest comedians ever, the comedians today can't even come close being as funny as guys like Rodney.
Here it is 1:00 am and I'm laughing with tears rolling down my cheeks... I grew up with the greatest...
When She Wears High Heels She Strikes Oil LMFAO
When I took her to the beach, they asked me what I used for bait! :)
A funnier line is something I just came up with, when she wears high heels a guy follows her planting seeds.
OH MAN that's hilarious!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂
don't compare yourself with Rodney Sam. Your line isn't funnier, it's derivative.
His line wasn't exactly making me roll on the floor laughing either
He never broke character. We're not worthy, We're not worthy.
One of the best classic comedians of all time. He was clean and funny. It was safe to take your kids to see him. I'm not even 50 and I've been a fan of his for 40 years. October 6, 2004 was a sad day for comedy.
Dave Bowler, You REALLY think Rodney Dangerfield was clean and safe for kids?? REALLY???
Dave Bowler good simple comments !
bill mitch "I overdosed on Viagra once.... It was the HARDEST day of my life!"
Safe and appropriate for children? Wow. Youre braindead.
Mike Randolph kinda strange comments coming from a man doing an act dressed as Michael Jackson and using puppets ! Rodney was the best.
bill mitch Who the fuck ever dressed up like Michael Jackson??? What the fuck are you talking about???
what a pro...never misses a beat...his timing is impeccable...
One of the all-time greats!
Dangerfield was the best, with his continual barrage of hilarious gags and one liners and delivered with perfect timing and his familiar dry wit. A true comic LEGEND ( R. Dangerfield RIP)

Rodney, You are missed Sir; You are missed. Thanks for the laughs, much needed.
Rodney is so hilarious! I remember laughing my ass off at the Caddy Shack and Back to School movie because of him!
caddy shack was great but back to school sucked. the movie he is promoting here is his funniest in my opinion.
Thomas Bealy Back to School sucked??!! Did you even watch it? It's a toss up between it and Easy Money as his best.
grover yeah i watched it but i couldn't take his son, ruined it for me. easy money on the other hand was great. good cast and funny as hell.
What a guy, and what a time it was when comedy was comedy. Rest in peace Rodney, we sure could use you now.

David G - and pay close attention to the speed and rhythm of how he tells it. His delivery is why its so funny.
Rick Roscoe......since when are you the timing expert. Shut your pie hole !!!
@Rick- That was classic Rodney. I remember as a kid seeing him on TV shows as this guy I didn't know who always said, "I get no respect at all.' He was great!

Rodney Dangerfield, one of the best!
Just amazing. SO brilliant. The jokes, the deliveries; he was incredible.

x1134x .... Yeah, My favorite Rodney Dangerfield joke; "Wanna see something funny???...Look at a porn flick on rewind and watch the hooker give back the money"!!!...This was one of his jokes told during the time when VCRs were still in trend. He gets ALL MY RESPECT! ! !
x1134x I asked the guy who says you can make out with my wife? He said everybody
Well done Rodney, God Bless.
Serious Goofball l
It took me like seven seconds of intense concentration to get that joke. By the time I did, it wasn't funny anymore. That summarizes my experience watching this clip.
I can't figure out how Johnny Carson kept it together ! I'm laughing my ass off ! We miss you Rodney.
There will never be another Dangerfield....
Man, was he great. Rapid fire, one after the other. It's the speed at which he rattles them off that creates the hysterical effect. He starts firing the next joke as soon as the laughter starts to fade, amazing timing, creates kind of a continuous stream of laughter or the joke being delivered. No silence.
The man could make you laugh your ass off without a single word of profanity. King of comedy as all the rest from a by gone era
Rodney Dangerfield was, and still is, one of my favorite comedians of all time. He was the undisputed KING of the one-liners.
You know you're a great comedian when you go on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson to try out new material.
