That's an incredible piece of ad-libbing fed by Dean Martin's few lines - right off the cuff he's created this incredible character with a complete backstory. What a wonderful actor and comedian he was.
Those were better days. I grew up with both Dean and Jonathan. They were and still are a part of my life. I had every Jonathan Winter's comedy record. My brother and I spent countless hours listening to and laughing at them over and over. Winters was on Jack Paar's Tonight Show and I stayed up to watch it. Paar loved Winters. My dad was trying to sleep and I laughed so loud that dad got up twice to tell me to quiet down. (He never said "shut up") And the Dean Martin show was a never miss occasion at my house. I always was anxious to see what was going to happen when he leaped onto the piano. Remember when the piano collapsed??? God I miss those days.

In real home life he was quite dry and removed. I wonder if he really never got over the break-up from Jerry...until 1976. I read his book: The Dirty Business of Show Business....wonderful. He loved Sammy D Jr.
My best friend and I loved Jonathan Winters so much we memorized some of the lines from his recording and while working in the kitchen of her dad's restaurant got in trouble more than once with the cook for causing him to lose his concentration on busy weekend nights. She was the busgirl and I was the dishwasher. I still laugh thinking of Marilyn coming through the kitchen door pushing her bus cart and singing "Well, Billy...Billy's comin' into town. Comin' in to shoot the marshall, gonna shoot him, shoot him down, well Billy, oh, Billy...Billy's comin' into town. Junction City! Junction City! You can get out now, Billy" This was from his spoof of Billy the Kid. Another one we memorized was "Maudy Frickert and a day at a funeral...her brother having just passed away...." This is one of his most hilarious sketches in which the funeral director is gay and the piano player is drunk "Whadya want Mrs. Frigger....regular funeral music..or somethin' he'd like?" Yes, those were the good ol' days. I just don't see these wonderful comedians being replaced today. I miss them all and long to be truly entertained as I was when I was a kid in the fifties and sixties. In those years we had a wealth of entertainment in our own living rooms every night! Jonathan and Dean both lived about 10 miles from my house when I was a kid. On occasion we would see them outside their homes near the road (very rural) setting, and just relaxing taking in the countryside view (Santa Monica Mountains). Happy to have found this, much appreciation for Mr. Winters and Mr. Martin. Improve between two people is a favorite.
There never was and never will be anyone like Jonathan Winters. Clean, hysterical comedy!
why do you old folks always ask for hysterical and "clean" comedy? Never had dirty thoughts?
@@stranraerwal I don't like garbage running around in my head.
Red Skelton was the greatest. I miss his show.
Red Skeleton was one of my mentor's growing up with my graetgrandmother who took care of his mother

Hillarious!
I lost a true genius yesterday! I laughed at his wonderfully skewed brain for 50 plus years. fortunately we have his videos to remind us of how wonderfully funny he was, and always will be!
May you andDean Martin rest inpeace
Dean did a good job that he held it together as long as he did
Wow th master of Improv, Jonathan Winters. Really really quick witted. Funny.
Jonathan and Dean both lived about 10 miles from my house when I was a kid. On occasion we would see them outside their homes near the road (very rural) setting, and just relaxing taking in the countryside view (Santa Monica Mountains). Whenever we saw them we would wave driving by and they were just as friendly as could be. Waving back and all smiles. Those were good childhood times and memories.
The best of the best!
Robin Williams learned from the best.
He learned rehearsed improvisation. Every line, every action was heavily rehearsed, but they were made to look like improv.
ghostmanriding z@;
@Patrick Ancona I like them both.
Patrick Ancona ... right on the money! Williams was annoying. Winters was a pro.
@@tenspeedtruck4083 That's right! And am I the only one that perceived Williams as a pervert? Or just my imagination?
Jonathon Winters was the greatest comedian who ever lived.
Thanks for the refreshing, revitalzing memories of two FINE, comic guys!
LOVE Jonathan Winters; one of my all time favs.
Hello Teresa
How are you doing?
What a talent!Miss him!
I have as much fun watching Dean as listening to Jonathan Winters. Comic gold, thanks for posting.
Dave Phillips Me too. That's half the fun of these sketches for me, watching to see at which point Dean will finally lose it!
Harvey Korman like Dean in that regard, he could never keep a straight face when working with Tim Conway.
Simply amazing talent. Robin Williams God Bless his soul. Good clean humor that doesn’t need any bad language just humor cracks me up
Oh my gosh, what great memories I have of these two very funny men!! Thank you for this post!!
