To all the ppl saying, " i can play that. " But can you sit down & invent it? This guy invented that song. He created it. G.L. wrote some of the sickest rock riffs ever.
Insight. That's the difference between a guitar player and a musician. Plenty of people in this world can shed like motherfuckers. How many can actually create a song such as this? Not many, because it not only requires the skill involved in the playing, but also the creative spark that so few in any given art actually legitimately have.
He makes it look so easy. He's got those long ass fingers to reach all the frets. This song gives me chicken-skin everytime I listen to it. He's an animal.
No matter what this man "Fingers" Mr George Lynch is one of the top five guitarist in this era they dont make them like this anymore! What an Era!! So glad I was in it to understand and live it!!!
The reason they call him "Mr. Scary" is because the tone is totally dry. The Marshall is just for show. The real amp here is a Roland JC-120 with no processing and every knob at noon. All that gain and reverb is coming from his fingers! 😱
Yngwie Malmsteen just THINKS that he's the greatest guitarist of all time. He is legendary, but my man here, George Lynch, can play circles around Yngwie Malmsteen any time he wants to! I'll give you an example. Yngwie has a song called "Black Star". It's a good song, but some of the Solo becomes so repetitive that, after awhile, you just want to turn it off! Sometimes, after listening to George Lynch come up with great songs like this, you just wanna say: Yngwie who?!? Give me George Lynch's music any day!
People are blown away how amazing his fretting hand his, the guy has a amazing picking hand as well, if you watch closely he does pinch harmonics up, and down strokes, its more clearly on other videos.
This is the worst example of this song ever!!!!!!! I can’t believe you heard this and fell in love. Huge testament to the song quality as opposed to recording quality.
i know this was the first time recording in the studio, but i like this version over the album cut,, and it really doesnt matter, he never seems to play it the same twice,, he always seems to add another element to it each time he plays it
Sitting here and thinking about two things that George Lynch once said: 1. "I could not tell or show you one single note on guitar, even if you hold a gun to my head..." 2. "I've always been a blues guy, trying to survive the 80s..." 😂😂😂
The main riff is harder than average for beginners or even intermediate players...The right hand work while also string skipping is enough to be an uphill climb for most. This is one of my go to riffs for my students when they are ready...It builds right-hand skill in alternate picking in rhythm on E string while having target notes on the A and even the D strings.
@@stricknine8623 thank you for your input I consider myself an advance guitarist but I do believe that alternate picking would be just the thing I would need to work on just for this song. Thank you.
@@williamwoods9567 I just didn't want people reading the OPs comment and feeling down about having trouble with just the main riff. It is not easy. It's an advanced technique. Once you've mastered the technique, sure, THEN it is easy. Good luck, have fun and be well. I have some advice. Do not spend a lot of time in one session on things that you may struggle with. 10 minutes is plenty...Move onto something you can play well or put the guitar down. However, persistently come back to that challenge every day.. It may seem like you arent getting anywhere or perhaps worse and then one day,..BOOM, you have a breakthrough moment. The skill was being built the whole time. I apologize if you were already aware of what I've advised in this comment. Take care.
@@stricknine8623 I gratefully appreciate your tip and in all honesty I was always a little trepidatious about teaching myself alternate picking, I always considered myself to hit the sting in between the picking pattern. Anyway, think none of it. I appreciate the friendly advice.
I finally found this song today. I've been looking for it for years and couldn't put a name to it. got burnt with a bunch of other bands called a tribute to accept.
As The Ultimate George Lynch fan. I could have sworn i saw a wisp of smoke coming off his fingers!.! }} Remember wishing my hair could look as good as his back in the ' Ultimate "80's!" Did get close, thanks to a damn good Hair dresser.
I noticed that immediately. The index and and thumb are extended out from the other fingers, which are evenly fanned out. I'll have to give that a try. I usually have my other fingers partially curled up.
