Total admiration! Warrior, Gunslinger, 'Guitarist of the Roundtable' -- Slays with wit, hashtags and backs it all up by laying down notes with his own sound, tone, vibrato and consummate craftsmanship...So, back to Mr. Scary!
George Lynch will forever be one of my favorite guitar gods. It's crazy that in the late 70s you couldve seen Lynch, Rhoads, and EVH randomly at some dive bar in LA any weekend.
George absolutely ripping it up. Looks cool and glad he’s aging gracefully. The old rockers that buyout all of the black hair dye at CVS look rediculous.
The intro has given me a whole different level of respect. Drummer can't hear George so he gets behind the riff. Lynch never batted an eye. Just paused on the break, caught the drummer. That's experience at the max. And this three piece is the absolute shit. Great
I'm learning this on guitar right now. What a lot of folks wouldn't understand is that the track on the album has about 5 layers of guitar. So to make it sound this big with one guitar is quite the feat. Kudos to George. He's lost exactly nothing.
Damn, with the towel he looks like he just finished his workout at the local YMCA and then decided to come outside and play. I saw him at the Fox in Detroit in 85. He was awesome then and is STILL awesome. His playing has gotten better with age.
I love how he would make his guitar sound like a screaming teradactle. Back in 84 we would warm up the Atari 800 and play whatever to Tooth and Nail B side. Record player would just play the same side over and over. George Lynch really stood tall among rock musicians back then.
Warriors...all three of them. Met George at a coffee shop I was working at. My high school guitar God walks up to the counter and I bout sh-t my pants. He treated me super nice. Hung out with me, offered to swap recording ideas. Don says he's a jerk but he was really kind and humble with me. He is by far the most alive, and creative guitar god of that era still slinging his axe; extra ordinary.
More like Mr. Shredder!!!! Broke the mold with his style and technique. One of the last great Guitar 🎸 God's to emerge from the 1980's Sunset Strip scene and Go Global with his extraordinary talent!
He will always be a great guitarist. Just wish him and Dokken could have weathered the storm. For me, he is what got me into Dokken. His masterful and insane guitar playing. I wish him and the rest of Dokken all the best.
This is one of my favorite guitar instrumentals from the 80's. (Dokken, Back for the Attack, 1987). This may be obvious; but, guitar instrumentals really work best when they are composed like real songs. Great playing from the band and Mr. Lynch!
One of my favorite songs to listen to as a ride my motorcycle on the Tail of the Dragon! Observing the speed limits I swear!!! No, the edges of my tires are not worn out! They came that way!
He may not be the most technical(still amazingly technical), But the electricity that courses through his fingers into the guitar and out through the amp is second to none!! IMO
Hahahaha! The fk'ng phrase meister strikes again!! Yet another devastating, completely improvised, slippery AF lead break from the absolute master! Thanks for sharing this gem.
I can remember seeing them live in 1987.. I am now 57 years old.. Most of you young guys have no clue all of us knew how to rock.. Most of us listen to new metal also. Hardcore stuff now.
This warms my heart...he is one of the most inspirational guitarists during the 80's to motivate my playing in my teens...also since his sound has always been so technical but so RAW (comparable with Dave Mustain or Chuck Schuldinger having that rough edge). So different from the other high speed virtuosos. He is smart with his pauses, but get's it down so nasty...I love it!
Saw him in exciter , at the Starwood like 1978 , I think , the band was moving all over the stage while ripping ! Four fingers , all up and down the neck . 10 +
I always included the overall sound and voice of the singer. I didn't know I could be so mesmerized by guitar solos until I heard George in another band. Now I hear him all the time. Whether in a band with vocals or instrumental. Or if he talks^^, I like to hear that too ;)
I absolutely L🤍VE the white hair. 🧑🏻🦳⚡️ The few I am getting, I would never attempt to cover-I waited for so long, 51 years! Lol. George and his spiky hair was totally unique back in the day and now this white is amazing. So glad he is looking great, feeling great & playing divinely!🙌🏼🎸
George has that Joe Perry level of cool. Comes from being comfortable with yourself and your age . It's when you try to cling to the past that you end up looking silly .
I've seen many many Lynch videos. This is the only time I've seen him play a Les Paul. It must have been the only thing available. It doesn't make for a great sounding shredder.
If you think an old Les Paul Custom was the only thing available you are clueless. That probably sleeps by his bedside and was there on purpose. Was better tone than anything he used in the 80s.
Total admiration! Warrior, Gunslinger, 'Guitarist of the Roundtable' -- Slays with wit, hashtags and backs it all up by laying down notes with his own sound, tone, vibrato and consummate craftsmanship...So, back to Mr. Scary!
Back in the 80's all the greats had their own unique sound, tone, vibrato and consummate craftsmanship.
😂
George Looks awesome. He looks like a master who left the Jedi order to pursue his dream of being a musician
Yes, aging gracefully is so much better than trying to hang on to your youth by artificial means that just make you look 10x worse.
Lol. I know, right?!
Exactly! Lol. He is too! Jedi guitar player.
😄
Randy Rhoads always said GL was the best 👊💀🍻🚬
Can we get some love please, for the bass player and the drummer? What a kick ass rhythm squad giving it up for George! A truly outstanding trio.
I noticed, what a great band!
Michael Devin is the Bassist but do not know the Drummer unfortunately
Awsome!
I was gonna say poor Bass Player is getting a workout but killing it at the same time!
If I close my eyes I swear it's Mick Brown & Jeff. Shout out to the bassist and drummer
If I could just be 1% as cool as George I'd have it made!
Your pretty cool man! I've learned from some of your videos
George Lynch will forever be one of my favorite guitar gods. It's crazy that in the late 70s you couldve seen Lynch, Rhoads, and EVH randomly at some dive bar in LA any weekend.
Lynch is a legendary guitarist, i used to see him play in the Hollywood clubs way before dokken, i don't remember what band, back in 1979-80
maybe Exciter or the Boys
George absolutely ripping it up. Looks cool and glad he’s aging gracefully. The old rockers that buyout all of the black hair dye at CVS look rediculous.
When you own the fact that you'll never be in your 20's again, you never get old. You just get aged like whiskey.
Black hair Dye? LMFAO🤪
Yes, like Michael Sweet unfortunately. Not a good look. George looks exceptional.
I'm 53 years old and still head banging to this!!!!
George Lynch looks like what Steven Segal thinks he looks like.
Best comment.
💯👍🤣
He thinks he can play as good too lmao😂
Oh shit. Yes. Winner.
LMAO. Best comment ever right here.
George is a complete 5⭐ Wizard! Kudos to the whole band & nice upload YTUser
George is the coolest. His guitar tone/growl at 3:46 is just...WOW!
Dude is a certified bad ass 😂
Holy Shit! George is 67 years old and is still an absolute beast on Guitar! Mr Scary indeed! 😈🎸🤘
When that is what you did for a career for your entire life you never loose it.
Father Time ticks on, hard to believe.
The intro has given me a whole different level of respect. Drummer can't hear George so he gets behind the riff. Lynch never batted an eye. Just paused on the break, caught the drummer. That's experience at the max. And this three piece is the absolute shit. Great
George is becoming the Gandalf of rock guitar.
LOL. I'M AN OLD
DOKKEN FAN
FROM JERSEY...
GANDALF LIVES!
This isn’t even his final form.
He’s always stayed in great shape and it shows in his playing. Still has the quick hands and the sharp musical instincts.
Stupid. Staying “in great shape” has nothing to do with “quick hands” and “sharp musical instincts”😂 Shawn Lane and Johnny Hiland were/are proof.
In great shape? The dude smokes and looks likes he’s 80 lol😂
@@anthonylove821 Yup, he's a smoker. He is not is shape, he is just not fat.
I'm learning this on guitar right now. What a lot of folks wouldn't understand is that the track on the album has about 5 layers of guitar. So to make it sound this big with one guitar is quite the feat. Kudos to George. He's lost exactly nothing.
Not a damn thing.
Agreed
George is a legendary beast of a player!! His shredding is always unpredictable, uncommon, impressive, and scary!!
Damn, with the towel he looks like he just finished his workout at the local YMCA and then decided to come outside and play. I saw him at the Fox in Detroit in 85. He was awesome then and is STILL awesome. His playing has gotten better with age.
I 100% Agree!
Old man Lynch still has the skills...🇺🇸
GL is one of my favorite guitar players. Saw Dokken back in the day. Don Dokken is a bitch.
And that shit guitar tone hes always had.
Coming back just to say this is still kickass.
One of my all-time favorite guitar instrumentals.
Lynch Mobs version of Tie Your Mother Down is almost better than Queens…Brian’s tone is just better IMO but Lynch took that song and tore it up 🤘
@@lifeson8362 I'll look for it. Thanks for the heads up, Alex! And you're right, Brian had one of the best lead tones of all time.
Absolutely!
That LP sounds glorious. It fits his style and genre so well. Great to see him playing a vintage Custom✊
Was really quite amazed, had no idea he could still play like this
Wow! Never really gave this guy that much attention. Time to go on a George Lynch binge!
Always on the cuff of going off the rails yet always in control.
Legend.
Best live version I think I've ever heard!
George is so underrated!
I love how he would make his guitar sound like a screaming teradactle. Back in 84 we would warm up the Atari 800 and play whatever to Tooth and Nail B side. Record player would just play the same side over and over. George Lynch really stood tall among rock musicians back then.
Hell yeah
Lol pterodactyl
A simpler time without the damn net.
Atari 800!!! Yes! Still have mine!
@@azjammin6663 I still use mine! And my 1200XL and 400!
George is still and always been a bad ass guitar player, nuff said 👍🎸
Yessir
Rocking the hell out that 58 L.P. as good of tone as I've ever heard him put out a true 6 string master. 2thumbs up mr george. Thanks for posting.
67 yrs young!!!! Dude is an inspiration
George hasn’t lost a step, still shredding. Awesome guitar player, love his solo work.
67 years old and still killing it!
Dudes one of the original fkn guitar ninjas.
He’s like the aged sensei who can take down the brilliant student using his forefinger. If Santa was born to rock. Looks good on him.
Warriors...all three of them. Met George at a coffee shop I was working at. My high school guitar God walks up to the counter and I bout sh-t my pants. He treated me super nice. Almost 70 but still killing it. I wish I am that cool when I get old
Ripping!! So inspiring! Long live Lynch!
The whole band is great!
The GOAT...and that bass player is kickin some ass on top of it
He's still got it. And I dig that triple P.A.F. Les Paul. It definitely has that Frampton vibe and the tone out of it is pure butter.
George has always had it!Great hearing him play the old Dokken songs, met him in Tucson Az,wish he would come back and play again, never gets old!
Killer playing and tone!
More like Mr. Shredder!!!! Broke the mold with his style and technique. One of the last great Guitar 🎸 God's to emerge from the 1980's Sunset Strip scene and Go Global with his extraordinary talent!
One of the 80’s Rock Icons!
I’m impressed how he plays this without a whammy bar. And also how he gets an LP Custom to sound like any of his other guitars.
I think a few times he reached for the bar though and oops, playing the Les Paul today! Agree though, sounds great. George is sharp AF.
One genius on guitar and two great players is enough for true R&R !
@SilverJustice
👍 thanks!
He will always be a great guitarist. Just wish him and Dokken could have weathered the storm. For me, he is what got me into Dokken. His masterful and insane guitar playing. I wish him and the rest of Dokken all the best.
These 3 have an unbelievable talent
🤘Incredible🤘 This could've been the Super Bowl halftime show...just say'n! 🤣
This is one of my favorite guitar instrumentals from the 80's. (Dokken, Back for the Attack, 1987). This may be obvious; but, guitar instrumentals really work best when they are composed like real songs. Great playing from the band and Mr. Lynch!

Observing the speed limits I swear!!!
No, the edges of my tires are not worn out! They came that way!
68 and still shredding like there's no tomorrow.
Had the opportunity to open for this line up in Sturgis 2021...Michael Devin and Jason Sutter on drums...what a show it was
Bad Ass George Lynch!!! Rock ON!!!
Master👑🎸 George🔥🔥👏👏👏... Epic Play🤘...Legend of Hard and Heavy 👍

o.m.g. thanks for sharing the memory. I'm reading a book about that era of the LA music scene right now
George is one of the GOATS 🤘
I haven't seen a vid of him in a while, surprised how looks now, but then again I forget how old I am now too. Sounds awesome on that LP.
How about that bass player? 🤘🏻
Gettin’ it!
I always included the overall sound and voice of the singer. I didn't know I could be so mesmerized by guitar solos until I heard George in another band. Now I hear him all the time. Whether in a band with vocals or instrumental. Or if he talks^^, I like to hear that too ;)
I've never seen him play it on a Les Paul. The guy is a beast.
He's playing a 3 Pickup Black Beauty Custom which is shocking since he doesn't use that normally
It does have different tone to it.
After 10 years of getting back into playing everyday i can finally say George Lynch has found his voice again!! The past few years have been rough
It's great to have the lynch back at full shred power !
Mr Lynch fucking just rock's fuck yeah
He is soo good and looks so healthy! Absolutely love it! Blew my socks off! He's even better now at 67 than he was in his 30's :) Amazing performance.
Great !
He’s still absolutely killing it 💯
Massive tone, the metal guitar chop encyclopedia right there
Strange not seeing George without his custom model ESPs.
여전히 살아있는 멋진연주
I cannot believe he's 67 years old in this video. He aged well and his chops are still there.
damn, i was wondering. Time just marches on....
He is known for staying in good health.
I have a feeling he stays away from dope and alcohol.
Ripping it up like a 25 year old. Love the humbuckers. It's the way God intended.
My beloved guitar hero, George Lynch!~~~
George Lynch for literally any roll in the next Mortal Kombat movie seriously.
This lineup is the best George has played in, idk what you say.
He's an amazing musician!
Mr. Scary himself and his incredible guitar playing was great then and still plays amazing TO this DAY!!!🤘🏻
Top of my list for guitar solo/songs all time.. still play it to this day..
George is amazing and the rhythm section is killing it! Awesome!!!
Very good!- you still got it George! Very creative instrumental song-all over the neck.
If it's one man who's enjoying life, it's George!!! Barefoot and all!!!
The master of creating the most badass tone with his hands.
George has that Joe Perry level of cool. Comes from being comfortable with yourself and your age . It's when you try to cling to the past that you end up looking silly .
Every word.
At @2:40 is that a wink? Listened to/worshiped this guy since I was about 14. I'll be 50 in February. Damn. When you got it, you got it. Rock on!!!
On a fixed bridge too.
George Lynch good guitarist‼️Mr.scray🎸🌈✨✨✨✨very nice👍
That was awesome! Interesting to me that all these 80’s Shred Kings no longer use Floyd Rose style guitars.
George still uses his ESP's with Floyds.
I've seen many many Lynch videos. This is the only time I've seen him play a Les Paul. It must have been the only thing available. It doesn't make for a great sounding shredder.
Tone for miles
If you think an old Les Paul Custom was the only thing available you are clueless. That probably sleeps by his bedside and was there on purpose. Was better tone than anything he used in the 80s.
Well, double locking can be hard to maintain and set up, place burden on techs (if you have one), string breakages, etc.
This is badass. He's completely under rated.
Wow this would’ve been great to see live. Love it.
Sounds great. Weird seeing George with a Les Paul.
George is one of the most innovative guitarist out there he is a master at his guitar and fingers!
Met him in 2003 at Peabodys Down under in Cleveland. Good show and cool guy!
Hahahahaa! Fkng George is fierce AF and killing it! Stripped down and deadly. Bass/Vocals & Drums are outstanding. Tour THIS!
Thanks for sharing. I was there. Definitely one of my all time favorite guitarist.
Awesome, I was just wondering when and where this was if you don’t mind? Lucky 🍀 you!
He is absolutely good with the guitar!
나훈아 선생님이 기타 치시는줄 알았네요 ㅎㅎ 멋진 연주 멋진 영상 잘보고 갑니다. ^^ 멋지게 나이드셨네요
