Which says a lot about the alternatives. Apple's keyboard//trackpad ribbon cables that fail every two to three years due to tension, delicate screen ribbon cables that quickly wear out, cracking screen chassis due to a design flaw (screw placement), internal power ribbon cable design that's been used for years now that can send 50v to the CPU, the glue that holds the screen assembly together wuthering under system load temperatures leading to frame snapping, dust, the faulty lid position sensors, the infamous keyboard issues, soft cases that dent on hard floors, soldered SSDs and RAM, the anti-repair and anti-consumer OEM practices, OS X's built-in spyware, firmware hardware part paring, the cooling systems designed with heavy thermal throttling in mind because they're largely unchanged from 2015 to keep weight and thickness down because of aesthetics, the one intentional design flaw that plagues all Macbooks from the decade... and they're still better than most everything else but the likes of Framework. But at least you can repair them unlike Macintoshes. You could be doing and spending a lot depending on whether you bought a laptop from the majority of the major companies that manufacture laptops you plan to keep for the long haul. Actually, just buy a low high end Dell, reinforce the hinges, rectify the non-existent quality control issues during assembly and reinstall Windows and be prepared to replace the fan every two years, but Dell might've sorted that now. And it'll still be far cheaper than a Mac. You know, just without all of the wonderfully great thinks you get with a Mac. I'm here 4 years later specifically to find out how Windows 10 or 11 scales, and how it works with Macbook screens. Here's some background to my enquiry: in the old days, if you deviated away from your screen's native resolution on any Windows machine, the resulting text was slightly blurry. And although many people could accept that, I definitely can't. The problem is that I want a new laptop and I've been used to using a relatively low-res 1366x768 screen for years, but they're quite rare now and I really don't want to go higher i.e. up to 1920 (aka Full HD) or 2560 (aka QHD/ 1440p). As this is a work and browsing machine only, the resulting text would be too small for me, and even though I understand that scaling has improved in the Windows operating system in recent years, deviating so far from the technical native resolution is probably going to bug me... unless it's an exact 2:1 scale. By that, I'm referring to the way that Apple laptops have, say, a 2880 screen, but display the desktop at half that resolution, meaning everything is much bigger than it would be on a 2880 res Windows machine, presumably by using two pixels to one (i.e. retina display). So, I want to know if the latest Windows o/s can scale down to exactly match the current 2880 or 3072 res Apple laptop screens, and if so, is it pin sharp and have the icon-scaling issues from a few years back been solved now? Alternatively (and it has been impossible to find anything at all about this), will the latest WQXGA 2880x1800 laptop screens such as those fitted to Samsung's Windows laptops scale in the same way/ perfectly if I just forget MacBooks altogether?

I would love a look inside the MacBook Pro 16" 64gb, using virtual box for Windows 10. I currently have a 2015 pro Retina 2.2 GHz Quad-Core i7 16GB. I use IOS mostly for updating calendars and pictures but I use Windows 10 on a daily also for work. I love the way Virtual Box runs Windows 10 and continually updates any firmware/drivers without me needing to do this manually. For those that use bootcamp and do not like the updating and running only on OS at a time, I highly recommend Virtual Box. Over time I have used up more memory with the amount of applications I need to run on both windows OS and IOS. I split the memory in half 8gb each which for 8gb it runs great!

I am a relatively new Mac user, I have been a Windows Admin (IT field) for the past 15 years and recently took a position as a Mac Admin about 6 months ago. Just about all of the ease of life "frustrations" you mentioned like the two finger click and keybindings you wanted to change to make things to your liking are the things that are driving me nuts the most with MacOS lol. We all seem to like our interfaces that we are used to :). I really wish command shortcuts were not bound to the application, like if I want to hit command K to map a SMB I dont want to have to click in to finder or in the desktop first. On Windows you can hit Win+R no matter your application open, and control+key is more so your shortcuts that are bound within a specific application where for the Mac Command kinda does everything unless its Unix based like terminal where Control still does a lot. I personally find the ergonomics of Ctrl+key (like Ctrl+C for example) to feel better with reach ability, I feel Command+C (for instance) is so close together its hard for me to do it comfortably. This is probably due to that interface I am use to thing. For the cursor speed, it feels like the cursor on MacOS is extremely slow when compared to windows and I noticed Windows has a much higher Mouse DPI range the MacOS so that is probably where you noticed the uncomfortable sensitivity, I always have to crank the Mouse cursor speed on MacOS for my liking. It seems we are on opposite sides on this which I find interesting, I am using Mac with as many of the Windows "defaults" I can get and you are on Windows with as Many of the Mac "Defaults" you can get but I think we can both agree the hardware is great and that trackpad does not have any competition on the market by anyone. Any who great video and it was exactly what I was looking for.
@@alex.maxwell It depends. If you are like the majority of Mac users that get them as a status symbol, facebook browser, or the apple echo system they are fine. If you are a power user it’s probably best to wait unless your research shows your specific use case has been migrated to or works well on Apple Silicon. Lacking dual minor support, officially at least, is a massive downside. Keep in mind the majority of applications are still x86 and are virtualized on Apple Silicon which is ARM, most virtualize very well but not all and some virtualize very poorly. At this point in time it all really boils down to what you need and mac for and what you do it with, me no I will not switch to Apple Silicon at this time as what I do does they dont fit well for. M1 is an amazing product to be sure, but it is not a finished or final product. I myself dont fancy partaking in a pay to join public beta as apple figures out this Apple Silicon thing. I generally advise others of the same thing. It’s best to wait for Apple to refine the product, then get onboard.
@@ajfromca Thanks for sharing this! I find it very sad that new Apple's products force its users to do "research of specific use case". It means that the ecosystem is becoming a more closed "walled garden" even for PRO users. And nobody knows where this path will lead. Nowadays my use case is not compatible with ARM macs. And I'm not alone. Time will show.
Please that's exactly what i want to do. I got a 13" MacBook pro in 2014, and its been serving me till now though I've had to change its battery and power charger...so in essence I'm thinking cheaper option for me is to upgrade its hard drive to like 512gb/1TB to install a dual boot settings for windows and MacBook os. I use bootcamp and I love it. On MacOS there isn't much that I can do. I generally use my laptop for gaming and using windows for this is so much better because on MacOS you are limited to the games that you can play and most of the time, the games that has a mac version are sometimes just not as good as the windows version.
I'm a little late but I dual booted my 2018 MBP mine is the mid tier with 256SSD so I had space to spare. Boot camp works like a charm. I did have to increase the storage space after the install but it worked out great.
This is exactly what I’ve been doing for two years now, but my computer is too old now to function properly, so I’m getting a new MacBook for the same purpose 😃
Lagod mid 2012 MBP double core i5, 4GB of ram, 500Gb HDD. Im not longer getting a new MacBook, since they are gonna be changing the processor in the new ones and so it’s said that in those they will no longer have bootcamp (to run Windows) it’s likely that the ones that do have it now will be obsolete in the near future, plus, they don’t have all the drivers you need to run Windows properly, and since the money is quite a lot, I’d rather invest in something reliable for my personal needs, ergo, I’ll get a PC
TheLittleSoldier thanks for telling me. I’ve got my hands on a late 2011 MacBook 13inch. Upgraded to 8gb ram.the 500gb harddrive is dead so I was seeing a whole bunch of videos to see what I could do with it if I did get it fixed

Bootcamp has an option in the menu bar to download the Windows drivers. It's easier to just make a Windows 10 USB and then hold the option button and format the SSD in the Windows options. Then run the Bootcamp driver installer.
How is your battery life with this setup? This is the only thing keeping me from going this direction, I've heard windows on MacBooks gets horrendous battery efficiency. Would have been a complete review with this detail.
I did this on a 2012 Mac Pro 5,1 dual Xeon, Windows 10 only. Runs nice w/ 30" Apple Cinema & 27" Apple LED. Dual Boot on a 2012 Mac mini w/ Apple LED Displays, well now I ran into issues w/ screen control or audio & Magic Keyboard functions. The old USB Mac Pro Keyboard M7803 & 1151 Mighty Mouse work fine as is. Win Control keys remapped, Num Lock works. Now I wanna try on my 2015 MacBook Pro 15" dual boot. I'll follow up
that remember me my experience in 2006 with my first gen imac my parents ofered me an imac to replace my dead athlon xp pc. i was stuck a few month on mac os because bootcamp was not ready yet... i tried to adapt but when bootcamp came out i was back on win xp almost full time. great hardware but my apps had no equivalent on mac os side sadly.
I have been using bootcamp for 2 months. I switch back and forth between both OS’s. For my professional and school life I use the mac side. For gaming and even creation I use the windows side. Its quite nice having two operating systems
I've done this myself but on an unsupported Mac, as bootcamp for the early 2011 pros only supports 7 and 8.1. I installed 7 just by booting up on the DVD (I already owned a copy) and installing it like you would on a clean install PC. I had previously downloaded all the bootcamp drivers onto a USB using the option in bootcamp. I then downloaded the media creation tool from MIcrosoft and was able to upgrade to Windows 10 without having to buy a license. Most of the 8.1 drivers worked in Windows 10, and even before the drivers were installed I still could use my keyboard and mouse, but the screen was base resolution until after the graphics and everything else was installed. I did notice the trackpack was very sensitive when two finger scrolling but I don't have the trackpad tab in bootcamp control panel. I may look at downloading some of the tools you mentioned to see if I can fix things like the volume keys not working on my keyboard. Luckily I have a dell blutooth keyboard that is the windows layout so I have all the windows keys and cntrl_alt_del, etc. Even when I'm not using that and using the built in keyboard I can do everything I need to one way or another. Blutooth wasn't working until I tried another bootcamp driver I downloaded. Looks like even with a supported Mac you may have some issues. Glad I can use an OS that will continue to receive security updates beyond 2020 which is why I switched to Windows and didn't bother with dual boot since High Sierra was going to be obsolete in a year anyway so I wouldn't be using it. Of course, I can't get my iMessages and SMS on my Mac anymore but I actually found that that was a little distracting (I know you can turn it off in MacOS).
Anyone know of a video where I can see how to install/change the MacBook trackpad to work with windows? I tried downloading the driver mentioned here but had no luck.
I am using it and it very smooth on my MBP 15" 2016. The only problem I have is that my battery life is way less on the windows system (4 hours) compared to MacOS (12 hrs)
It's interesting that nobody spoke about their MacBook Pro battery life when running Win10. I am running Win10 on my MacBook Pro 16 inch released 2019 and I feel like the battery runs out faster than usual. Does anybody have the same experience as me? My MacBook is new ad I have been using it for less than a month now.

I don't know if it's just me but Windows feels a lot more snappy on my MacBook Pro than macOS - also the Trackpad is a lot better than a lot of Windows Laptops like you already said.
Considering this on my 27" mid 2011 IMAC. I rarely get into the MAC side and currently running bootcamp. Just seem silly to have the dual boot when I don't need it.

There is a much better way of doing this. 1. Open bootcamp assistant 2. From the menu bar, click on bootcamp assistant --> Action. Click on download windows support software. You can specify where you want to download it. 3. Save the bootcamp's windows support software on a separate usb or hard drive. 4. You can now install a fresh copy of windows 10 on the mac (erasing the whole disk, putting windows 10 only). 5. Copy the windows support software that we saved on a separate usb, and run the bootcamp installer. It will install all the drivers for you.
I have a windows 10 macbook air 13inch and it works wonderfully. My machine boots up more quickly than my MacBook pro actually and it is rigged without having to hold down two buttons to decide whether to use os or win10. Great stuff. I also am able to run two additional monitors that the cursor can drag across. Do you have any suggestions about the best splitter to use? Thank you for your great presentation.
I’d just like to ask: what’s the best way of transferring stuff between Windows and MacOS on the same laptop, say as an example, if I used windows for gaming and wanted took a screenshot from my favourite game and wanted it to be on MacOS?
When you create a partition for boot camp initially, you can view that hard disk (the created partition) on the macOS side of your computer, and access any of the files you have running on the windows side. The files are totally independent of eachother as they exist on two different partitions of the SSD, but you can still view and transfer things from the windows partition disk (accessible in macOS) right to macOS. To view all available hard disks (partitions) on your Mac desktop, simply go to Finder>Preferences>”Show” Hard disks, and you’ll see the ‘BOOTCAMP’ Hard disk appear with all of its windows data, drivers, software, and any given files you have on windows. Hope this helps!
Can anyone tell me how well this works on an Imac 21.5 inch late 2012 model for gaming? Im thinking about switching over so i can play games like Apex legends, terreria and maybe CSGO. Thanks.
Please, how do I revert the process? I installed windows and then deleted all the macOS related partitions. Now I want to install macOS back but when I star network recovery nothing happens. I do connect to the wifi but the globe just spins spins and nothing initializes.
yes. I use mac os on my macbook pro but im forced to switch over to windows using bootcamp whenever i need to use Autocad or Vray. Both programs work well in windows using bootcamp
Just copy the Bootcamp drivers to a USB and attach a wired keyboard and mouse. No need to install macOS at all. If you don't have a wired keyboard and mouse laying around, then you should. Always good to have in a pinch.
Dude I have a apple iMac early 2012 4 core 8 gb ddr4 I think 512 mb running just windows 10 no boot camp at all restart it goes right into windows boot logo then hose to login
Reboot your Mac and when you see the white Apple logo screen quickly press and hold alt key then you will se an OS selection screen. Btw you can switch main booting OSs in system preferences in macos.

Thank you for this very insightful presentation! I bootcamped my mac a couple of years ago and have been very pleased. I even made the decision (with the help of an Apple tech) to completely get rid of the mac side of the bootcamp. The windows side C drive then had the D drive from the mac added. I can no longer access the mac side. With a few hiccups, I have been very pleased. The latest surprise was from the windows update that completely deleted my bluetooth drivers. The window tech deleted that install and installed the one before in order to restore the bluetooth driver. Perhaps you can address this question I now have. I want to connect this computer to my Sony Bravia TV. Is this a complicated matter with the mac hardware and the Windows 10 OS? I would appreciate your opinion, if possible.
This is a great video. Since 2019 I am running my MacBook Air 13 inch 2017 on Windows 10 pro only. I switch on the laptop and it runs on windows. everything is windows. The issue I am having is that my hard drive is only 128GB. I want to upgrade from 128GB to 1 TB NVMe SSD. I am not a tech guy and have friends helping me. How do I upgrade to 1TB and get all my windows apps restored. I am looking for your comments and suggestions on how to do it?
I really like the idea of this, especially if you have a good macbook, so to be clear the only reason you deleted the mac os partition was to not have to select it upon booting? Or just to free up space?
Oddly enough, my MacBook pro has been the longest-lasting Windows machine I've ever owned.

I'm trying to get a work from home job but I need windows 10, do you think it would work on my mac for the job? I see that you use yours for work. I can't get anyone who has knowledge of bootcamp
Please reply. So if i use bootcamp to use windows forever, do i have to pay sometimes or not? Edit: I have the magic mouse 2 and the Mac keyboard so I will i still have to charge them, if yes then how can i see their battery life?
Just installed windows 10 on my 2020 intel MacBook Pro! Needed windows for military purposes and it runs flawlessly!

So, what do you think about the recently introduced M1 macbooks?
My mac specs are: MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014), 2.6 GHz Intel Core i5, 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, Intel Iris 1536 MB, 121gb hard drive. so what do you think about this?
I got a macbook pro 2019 sadly the screen smashed , however I managed to get hold of a 2017 MacBook pro screen , it fit and worked perfect , however when I ran mac OS the screen brightness just would not work it was, I tried everything & sadly its a mac firmware that don't like you to use older mac parts , I then rang windows via bootcamp & boom the screen was full brightness & now this video i can remove the mac os and use it as a good windows 10 system , the fans a a little loud but apart from that its a nice windows system i
I use bootcamp and I love it.
For such people like me who loves apple products but some software I use for school available only on windows, that’s why I run Windows on Mac
This is exactly what I’ve been doing for two years now, but my computer is too old now to function properly, so I’m getting a new MacBook for the same purpose 😃
TheLittleSoldier what MacBook was it?
Lagod I really hope you find the fix to your problems! Good luck!
Hi, buddy.i have clean installation windows 10 on MacBook Pro 8.1 early 2011,2.3ghz,320 hd,it gets hotter when in use and uncomfortable to use ,I know many people who install it has over heating issues how can u help me plus others with this problem
Hey! nice vid! Really learned a lot. Just wanna ask how do I revert to macOS? just in case i decide to do so in the future. Thanks!
theres a way to download just the drivers from bootcamp assistant
I have the same problem
Bootcamp has an option in the menu bar to download the Windows drivers. It's easier to just make a Windows 10 USB and then hold the option button and format the SSD in the Windows options. Then run the Bootcamp driver installer.
i need help for me windows is painfully slow on my mac
I'll follow up
i am stuck at "Getting Ready" screen on my MBP 2014 ratina... pls help
that remember me my experience in 2006 with my first gen imac
my parents ofered me an imac to replace my dead athlon xp pc.
i was stuck a few month on mac os because bootcamp was not ready yet...
i tried to adapt but when bootcamp came out i was back on win xp almost full time.
great hardware but my apps had no equivalent on mac os side sadly.
I have been using bootcamp for 2 months. I switch back and forth between both OS’s. For my professional and school life I use the mac side. For gaming and even creation I use the windows side. Its quite nice having two operating systems
Tryin to do this, so I’m considering downloading windows
I had trouble getting Sharp Keys installed on 12" MB.
Anyone know of a video where I can see how to install/change the MacBook trackpad to work with windows? I tried downloading the driver mentioned here but had no luck.
Did you download the windows support software and see a boot camp Logo in your User Applications
I am using it and it very smooth on my MBP 15" 2016. The only problem I have is that my battery life is way less on the windows system (4 hours) compared to MacOS (12 hrs)
What?
Can you make a video of explaining how to download and use github for the trackpad drivers?
It's interesting that nobody spoke about their MacBook Pro battery life when running Win10. I am running Win10 on my MacBook Pro 16 inch released 2019 and I feel like the battery runs out faster than usual. Does anybody have the same experience as me? My MacBook is new ad I have been using it for less than a month now.
did you fint any way to solve this issue?
One of the best videos ever. I am a Windows user but at my job I have to use a MacBook Air which I don't like. Tomorrow I am going to try to do the dual boot and I will let you know. Again awesome video and great information.
I install windows 10 without boot camp i have no troubles I use apple keyboard on early 2008 imac. only thing don't work camera some reason
Could you share with me how to drive the touch bar and facetime camera ?Thank you
I am having an issue where my external SATA hard drive is connected, but it is not reading it, I read online and it was saying mac does not support external hard drives why?
Can you share that wallpaper? Looks so neat with the colour of the taskbar. 🙂
I don't know if it's just me but Windows feels a lot more snappy on my MacBook Pro than macOS - also the Trackpad is a lot better than a lot of Windows Laptops like you already said.
I have an old mac pro I boot into windows for the occasional game but not that ofter. It's also useful to have a separate hd for each os.
Considering this on my 27" mid 2011 IMAC. I rarely get into the MAC side and currently running bootcamp. Just seem silly to have the dual boot when I don't need it.
Do you have a fusion drive if so it can mess with it. Dear God it was annoying
Since my mac Os is like 4 years old I added windows 10 and it’s so damn beautiful!!! 👍🏻
Why though...
Joel Martins because apple stopped upgrading the OS.
@@AloneinFiction What? What computer do you have? I still have a mid 2014 13inch Retina Macbook Pro around that is on MacOS Catalina the latest sofware, and its still getting OS updates as usual... 🤨🤨

Deleting the Mac side did it make your battery last longer?
I saw that if you use boot camp with Windows 10 on the Macbook pro 16", you'll be using the discrete graphics card the whole time, killing battery life. Would removing MacOS completely keep this from happening or did you see any detrimental battery performance?
I don't worry about battery as I'm using a imac not macbook
I have a 2009 MacBook Pro. I have had this from new and love it but Apple has stopped updates so if I install windows 10 can I install windows programs and software on it
Super easy to do. The only unexpected thing I've noticed is that there is no Windows recovery partition on the C:BOOTCAMP drive. Does anyone else see the same? Any opinions on whether it is necessary?
Hello, how is the battery life and thermals while using the device? Also, are the third party tools free to use?
since my mac is no longer getting updates from apple I have repurposed it into a fully fledged windows device using bootcamp, using recovery mode helped me delete mac OS and now I have an extra partition to move files to should i need it
hey i did the same but on a macbook air from 2012 but i've been struggling with finding some drivers as most things don't even work (sound, webcam, gestures, lid detection etc) any help?
Hey buddy I am currently on a 2020 iMac and I wanna get rid of macOS just like you did , could you explain how ?
i am having a macbook pro 2015 mid and i am using seperate ssd for windows 10 which i plug in whenever i want to use windows but system gets heat up after using for a while for that i use Mac Fan Control app in windows for safety
Can you do this with MacBook Pro M1 Pro snd how do you use keyboard after that?
I also am only able to use just Windows 10 on my MacBook Air. I just wish I had my Macintosh side running again. I can’t access it anymore.
I installed Windows 10 on my MBP 16 2019, everything looks working fine except for the fingerprint sensor, do you have solution or driver for the fingerprint sensor? thanks
have imac and macbook running windows. why? because i can't upgrade the macos anymore as they are already old. both with intel i5 2nd gen. updated the ssd as well for bigger storage. once in windows they feel new again. look for brigadier if you need to find the correct driver for your macs in windows os.
Hi, buddy i did single install of windows 10 on MacBook Pro 8.1 early 2011.install was successfully but it gets hotter cannot put on my lap,fun doesn’t move well when i hear closer to fun side could b fun not performing it’s work
It's amazing how well Windows runs on a Mac!
Never had a crash in 6 years
Mine just staight boots into windows as well and i still have the mac os partition with Catalina
There is a much better way of doing this.
1. Open bootcamp assistant
Does bluetooth work in windows 10 bootcamp, cuz I can't get it working
Can we connect Bluetooth window keyboard and use window system shortcuts for excel and word and other

Whats battery life like compared to using Mac Os
I'm trying to install the trackpad driver but i'm having a hard time, can someone give me a step by step comment please
Can anyone tell me how well this works on an Imac 21.5 inch late 2012 model for gaming? Im thinking about switching over so i can play games like Apex legends, terreria and maybe CSGO. Thanks.
Can you show use how you did it too get when 10 to be only on the laptop
Please, how do I revert the process? I installed windows and then deleted all the macOS related partitions. Now I want to install macOS back but when I star network recovery nothing happens. I do connect to the wifi but the globe just spins spins and nothing initializes.
Would a macbook pro 2011 be more upgradable with windows than MacOS?
I own this model and Bootcamp/Windows just can't handle the heat properly... It gets very very hot and noisy
I like the 50/50 approach. If I'm video editing, MacOs. If I am gaming or programming, I like Windows.
I am also using only windows in macbook air 2015 but what do i do to open bios menu and to upgrade the internal storage
can i install CAD modelling softwares after running windows on macbook pro...
Is this process possible on a Macbook Air with High Sierra (10.13.6)?

How do i switch back to mac while using windows ?
Reboot your Mac and when you see the white Apple logo screen quickly press and hold alt key then you will se an OS selection screen. Btw you can switch main booting OSs in system preferences in macos.

I gave my mac laptop to a person to install windows 10 , but it didn't work so he installed windows 8 in it , now i am unable to use right click and voice is very low. And keyboard light is not working. Any solution for this?
Can i do it with windows 11 pro ??
I have Mac book pro 13.3 2020 (A2251)
Thank you for this very insightful presentation!
I am looking for your comments and suggestions on how to do it?

can u make a video on installing windows and deleting Mac OS it would be so helpful
How many hours did battery last after installing windows 10 on Macbook Pro? Is it that standard 11 hours or less than that...
I really like the idea of this, especially if you have a good macbook, so to be clear the only reason you deleted the mac os partition was to not have to select it upon booting? Or just to free up space?
Verd ASMR when booting you don’t need to select a drive because it boots to the drive you have selected so probably it was because of space
@@buzzlightyearoh And he said he does not need macos
