The paint wash is really lovely. I'm so happy to see it brought back to life and you must be happy to have it finally out of the garage. It's a shame the bottom was too damaged to do that finish over the whole thing.

Kara - I have a large buffet/dresser I have been working on for more than 6 month. I too cannot park in my garage and I live in snowy Wisconsin! I truly appreciate the intention you show with each piece. I will make a list and tackle 1-2 items on my dresser as time allows. That was my number 1 take away today. The buffet is beautiful and I think the color choice was perfect 😍

I like the color you picked. In the container it looked pink. I'd loved to have seen the top stay wood but bleach it blonde. It will be interesting styled for sure

NO, you did not overpay for that buffet, in fact it was a deal. Back when it was new, that was the top of the line. It might not be solid wood, but I know the veneer is really thick. Veneer was not always for show, laminated like that, it makes it more stable in the weather changes. I already mentioned the contrasting slats on the top and that rim around the top prevents warping/cupping, like a solid board would tend to do. Note how they thought to put the dividers inside the big drawers, and the drawers behind the door in the center, the oak used inside the drawers, etc. Very well thought out to the last detail, and no expense spared made by fine craftsmen. I call DEAL.
Yea you’re right! I just know when I picked this up (I was bidding on 2 at the same time) I was like oh no!!! What did I do! 😂 but I kept reminding myself it was for me and I could never buy something currently this well made for that price. It’s the thrifter in me! Lol
@@LemonstoLemonadeFurniture Could well be that new furniture of this quality is not available at any price, but IDK. I have seen a lot of new Wayfair IRL, and you can see the poor quality from across the room. Even the upholstered stuff is horrendous; it is lumpy, doesn't lay flat, the patterns don't quite match, the piping is crooked, etc.
Our eyes are a little more trained that just somebody looking at a catalog, but these kinds of mistakes are just not acceptable.
Don't know, but I think they are considered to be high end, maybe not. Guess what you would have paid for this from Wayfair? I am afraid to guess. I think you said you paid 160?, don't be crazy!
I would’ve used a slightly darker colour for the bottom but that’s just my opinion. 😉
Stunning! I would have chose dried Pampas as well. I feel it was the best neutral without being too beige. Thank you for sharing the most simplest but some of the most important tip!. Numbering the drawers is such a good tip. Even keeping the same hardware to that particular drawer. I know first hand mixing up drawers can be a disaster when putting back together.🤩

Beautiful job! It is funny how when it is "yours" it is harder to decide how to proceed. I guess knowing you are going to be looking at it indefinitely does that! Also, it was interesting that you paint washed over the shellac primer. I don't know that I"ve noticed that on other furniture makeover videos, but my sense is that shellac would sort of 'close the pores' (for lack of a better phrase) and prevent it from absorbing or that the wipe-back would take it all off. Have you ever had that kind of issue? Clearly not here--looks great! Bravo.
