One of my favorite charts, fun to blow on. So nice to hear Dick and everyone else on this! Also, FYI stupid ads took over right before the end...sucks to kill the denouement of a great performance.
Great performance. My only complaint was that the band was louder than Dick, it at times buried his solo until of course he played with the bass I too love Dick Oatts and took some lessons with him. But, I loved Dick's sound which I've copied on his Berg. Not fond of the Lee Konitz sound or style on the white Brilhart. I play a Carlsbad Brilhart 4 and its bright, brillant, clear sound like a Meyer with more depth, definitely not stuffy . Its my like and opinion of his sound. He's still my favorite and just a phenomenal improviser who is the only one in jazz history to play differently on the Alto and Tenor. To me he mixes the bebop language with modern harmony. On Tenor, very Trane which I love. Love listening to him
I hear a lot of Dick Oatts' style in your solos after listening to his solo here! 🔥🔥🔥
Incredible that you got your hero himself on video!!
I know!! I've listened to his solo around 20 times already.
Dick Oatts is by far my favorite alto sax player and such an underrated and heavy player. What an amazing performance and a great job by the band!
Thanks so much - he's mine too!
Dave Pollack Happy International Jazz day thank you for keeping it alive and well!
I might have to save my favorite alto spot for Phil woods but dick oatts is definitely up in my top 5
Kenny R Yeah man Phil Woods is insane!
Dick Oatts! My favorite living alto player! His playing and vocabulary are immensurable!
Seeing Dick Oatts live was my favourite gig of all time
The best known “secret” in the jazz world Master Dick Oates. Thanks Dave. Work work ethic is again inspiring.
Thanks so much! It was incredible to have him on this.
Omeed my man!
Terrific job everyone! I know like 13 people in this band!
So good! As close as we can get to hearing him live at the Vanguard on a Monday night right now!
That's the great thing about technology now - even if we can't be somewhere, we don't have to go completely without great music!
Wow you got Dick Oatts on here!? (Bout to watch now, just had to comment first)
Hope you dug it!

Thanks so much! Don't blame me for ad placement on this one - UA-cam decided that (I guess they're not hip to Thad Jones!!)
@@DavePollackYou gotta tell them this aggression will not stand...man.
Great!
That was awesome. Huge fan of Oatts. One of the few alto saxophonist whose style I dig in every way.

Fantastic as always. Big thanks, Dave & co!

Dick oatts THE GOAT HIMSELF.
Yup!!
Killing Dave
Dave is the new oattes I said it
Will you be arranging any charts for this yourself, Dave? Be great to hear what you'd do!
Most likely not - i’m not a big band composer/arranger AT ALL
Some good stank faces during the Dick Oatts solo!
Oh man you should’ve seen me the first time I listened to it...
nice
I've never clicked on a video so fast
Yo that's j on sax, he's a U Arts cat
Noah_ Canada_ I knew i recognized him from somewhere
Didnt know Joshua Weissmann plays trombone
You know any other u Arts guys?
Would it have been too cheesy to have Dick Oatts cut off the band at the end? Lol
Hahaha, I didn't think of that
