LYRICS
Lost, here is nowhere
Searching home still
Turning past me, all are gone
Time is now
The omen showed, took me away
Preparations are done, this can't last
The mere reflection brought disgust
No ordeal to conquer, this firm slit
It sheds upon the floor, dripping into a pool
Grant me sleep, take me under
Like the wings of a dove, folding around
I fade into this tender care
sometimes i'm sad listening to Opeth and then someone comes and makes me laugh and ruins everything, and it takes a while to recover my precious sadness
I know that feeling bro
😀 What a lovely way to live your life😄🤘
Exactly the same
@@lazarnikolic4958 Kinda of arrogance suppose others feellings from an youtube comment...
Sorrow
Opeth is the only metal band I've ever seen who can pull off not having a mosh pit. Everyone in the audience just stand in awestruck silence, admiring the majesty before them.
I wish they were, instead they're ruining the softer parts by clapping like mad.
@Jeff Dittburner I saw this comment and the first thing I thought of was Yob.
@Brainkrieg it's prog metal
Same thing with Dream Theater. :)
I would say it's probably because their concerts now are at least in half a rock songs. They stopped playing metal music especially death metal around in 2008. These 2-3 songs for the whole concert don't change much, it's not the same, it's not a metal band anymore. I guess at least the money is right, but they should change band name ;)
How can a song be so beautiful and brutal at the same time?
Cause it's opeth :)
Mourningrise375 Yeah.. it is literally that simple :-)
Prog Metal
I believe the word you are looking for is 'brutiful' :)
You sir.. you are GENIUS! This is my favourite word now! :D
Maybe the most overlooked track on Blackwater Park, but certainly one of the best Akerfeldt ever wrote. The epitome of melancholy. Poe only wished he were alive to hear something this depressing.
How is that an overlooked track?
Fun fact: the first HEAVY (not the clean intro) section until the vocals come in was written by Peter (the first two riffs at least, possibly not the leads).
Was this overlooked?? I always thought ir was one of the best, and most of the others i have heard talk about it as well
Whether or not it's overlooked, it's certainly one of the most critically panned. I love it to pieces though.
@@Thothings the best section in my opinion, so beautiful. Miss u peter
dude thier bassist is such a beast
The ending is stunningly beautiful
+Dragonaut111 one of my favourites ! so awesome ! so perfect ! \m/
Dragonaut111 the intro too
One of Opeth most beautiful parts. Personally one of the best things Mikael has written (or maybe was Lindgren?) Anyway its astonishing
it almost got me crying, no joke
I get an eargasm every time i hear the switch at the end from distortion to clean. Its so majestically done. One of the most wild switches in tone but it just works so sooo so well 😫
Best outro in metal history.
Gil Novello so fucking beautiful and depressing. Words can't even describe how the outro makes me feel.
Love that outro
Even the credence one is so damn awesome
Deliverance???
Samuel Overs depressing though ? Never saw it that way.
This song is the epitome of seasonal depression, and I’m here for it. Fall of 2022 🍁🤘🏼
Blackwater Park really is the pinnacle of metal, it took me some time to realise this
yes it took me nearly 5 playthroughs to go holy fuck this is amazing. I find prog metal is extremely difficult to get into at first then it just turns into an actual addiction
I love the dead silence during that outro riff. Edge of their seats lol.
That bass, that brutal, that clean... So beautiful.
6:00 That outro leaves me in chaotic feelings every single time I listen to this song :'S
God damn... I should never, EVER have let that opportunity to see them perform with In Flames pass by. Next time I see they're touring, my ass is there.
TheGreatYukon You going to the NY or LA show?
***** You live in Opeth's home country, though. Also a country with a substantially better government and better healthcare n shit. Also you're in Europe.
Trust me, I'd prefer to be there :P
Same shit in Denmark👎🇩🇰
TheGreatYukon saw them in houston, texas
Its all fate man. Youll know when the time is right. Peace brother
Despite the growls this songs still manages to be one of the saddest opeth songs. Hauntingly beautiful
Despite? It is in part, because of the growls it reaches such a high emotional level
I like to imagine that the growls come from a soul drenched in pain, sorrow and agony.
opeth , porcupine tree and tool should tour together or create a side project , storm corrosion isn't enough
oh god, duuude you're my hero ! !
+TheMorbidAsshole I totally agree.. Even though Im not that into P.T. But, I know they'd add good shit to that mix.
+TheMorbidAsshole +gojira.
+Gluvonemi Hendikep (Anilingus) GOJIRA and TOOL
Michael Manning add meshuggah and gojira as opening acts ,yeah! fuck !
I don't know why people don't consider this song as one of their greats?
They do.
Because they also have Blackwater Park on the same album. :)
And they really have many other great songs, maybe too many to choose from.
I do
I do.
Mendez is so awesome! Hardly moves throughout the whole song yet has so much stage presence. And plays incredibly well.
This kind of thing is what Opeth is missing these days. The composition style that allowed for masterpieces like this. I don’t care that they don’t growl anymore. They’ve proven they can still write great things without growling (see: damnation). I’m sad we’ll probably never hear amazing songs like this in the future
@Cansu ÜNLÜ I would be EATING UP new Opeth if it was more similar to songs like A Fair Judgement
@@cansuunlu998 Tbf they might be in a better place mentally than back then. So it's only fair for them to write what they feel (though i agree the best stuff was back then and way darker lol)
@@sirdo946 Mentaly ? All metal bands needs have mental problem because they play metal instead of rock and change style, sounds like different band ?
No need for any other band to exist, Opeth is all we need.
This is the first Opeth song I tried to learn on the guitar some 15 yrs back ... the intro, outro and everything in between is just beautiful... couldn't help crying after listening to it after so long.
The fact that live version sounds so good blows me away, only Opeth
Without meaning to use the term lightly, it is a musical masterpiece. Mendez outdoes his performance for the studio recordings with stunning jazzy improvisation. Ackerfeld is great though imo doesnt come across quite as melancholic as in the studio version. Outstanding live rendering of a song.
alexis georgiades Opeth isn’t an improv band at all. Mendez and the boys use the same flourishes across many live performances to add appeal. I agree though that they are fantastic live
Mendez bass sounds sweet 🍺
Favorite opeth song by far, beautiful and intense and amazing
Shut up. You don't know music and you're only saying that to fit in.
+Ihateregistrations1 LMAO okay!
Whats your problem Sir?
Shut up, you're nothing about music.
Ahmet Emin Erdoğan 😂😂😂
This song is so fucking BEAUTIFUL....damn
I can't belive i just discovered opeth last year, it has changed my whole life
When a friend of mine wanted to cheer me up after a bad break up he asked me what song I want a local radio station to play for me. I asked for this shit. I find it really relaxing!
I wish Opeth still made music like this.
Same. In Cauda Venenum is the worst nu-Opeth album to date, I'd say. It's just not very engaging compared to the composition of the other albums.
@@sulociou7846 lmao
@@sulociou7846 no growls,😥 it isn't music anymore, right? 😒😐
@@sulociou7846 ¿? Lovelorn Crim, All things will pass,
@@aoaoa605 It's not about the growls, it's about the music. Watershed only had growls on 2 songs and then 10 seconds of 1 song; it was mostly soft but we all loved it anyway. And don't forget about Damnation.
This has always been, and will always be my favorite Opeth song. I've never been lucky enough to hear them play it live, but this version is pretty excellent!
My brother passed away on November 2015 and this song always reminds me of him, we used to listen to opeth together all the time, this was our favourite band, I had this on my mind all day long, I miss him a lot
❤
This is modern opera. All the drama and great music you can have.
This is one of those songs that I cant stop repeating over and over, and cant get tired of it. beautiful and powerful, gives me the chills! thanks Opeth for this
Listening to Opeth feels like watching a good fucking movie.
This song is a true masterpiece...
What a song
this band is very good
The ending is like a hug to my soul calming my depression.
I was there! The end of this song was one of the highlights for me. To be sat there with hundreds of people being as quiet as they possibly could while Akerfeldt's haunting guitar echoed around the Royal Albert Hall is something I'll never forget!
Opeth, the ultimate outro boss. THis one ; deliverance ; Harlequin Forest ; Burden!
Other times it doesn"t really sound like an outro, but the climax is still in the end like in Demon of the Fall.
And I forgot tons of good examples...
Credence too
The leper affinity has my favorite outro
My favorite track on Blackwater Park.
melancholia. thats the brief of this song.
cant explain how much ı love this song...
Top 10 all time for me. When I first heard this in 2006 I was mesmerized.....and I am still am.
I love how the croud isn't jumping around like crazy... They are in awe, as I would be..
I'm 28 years old I've never heard a song as impactful as this one!
His songs are like Klimt paintings. So beautiful colours and so dark at the same time.
When I listen to an Opeth live performance, I'm much more impressed by the fact that they are so incredible that many times during acoustic interludes or just when the music quiets down you can hear a fucking pin drop in a crowd of thousands of rowdy metal heads........it actually gives me chills, I can only imagine what it's like for the band to know that their audience is hanging on every note, That silence (at most live performances of Opeth, not all obviously) is simply amazing.
This entire record is a masterpiece!
Y aquí sigo 10 años después
The feels I get from that lead that starts about 48 seconds in... WOW... I love this live, I've seen it 2x now.
Absolutely astounding as is the whole of the Blackwater Park album , i never ever ever tire of hearing it 😍😍
This album simply blows minds away...
I love the bass line in this song
it's very hard not to cry hearing this song...
What a beautiful ending..
What an incredible solo ! 3:00
this is obviously best Opeth's live song ever !
Listen to the album version = superb, then listen to this version = Magnifique!
This is amazing, true musicianship in its purest form
That last part gives me chills and like i'm about to cry....
Wow, a band that can actually keep time with their own tracks they put out.. Imagine that.
First song I ever heard of Opeth. Never missed a single song since then!
That intro and outro tho!
Those growls are overwhelming
Mendez is a beast. Just look at him playing smoothly ...
IN-fucking-CREDIBLE!
How does his voice do that that’s amazing
6:02 That outro. To me it always sounded like the soundtrack to the album cover with the ghostly silhouettes in the dark swamp.
Absolutely, also the calm part in the middle of the title track, with all those atmospheric guitar sounds...
Good god almighty... This track is so fucking brutal....
That bass tone....
man, the sound on this dvd is amazing! so alive, clear and brutal.
Dirge for november
Face of Melinda
Ghost of Perdition are the most beautiful pieces of art from Opeth.
Winter Sun Don't forget Black Rose Immortal!
Winter Sun you forgot "to bid you farewell"
Majestic
The end brings such strong emotions in me, reminds me how much shit I have been through, now I sit here hardened by experience, numb to pain.
Classic.
These guys are everything good in music
Love it forever..
Saw this video on VH1 a few years back, till then I am a great fan of Opeth.
Jignesh Shah same here..saw the exact thing live and I'm hooked till today. Great band
Did VH1 also posted such good shit? All I saw were some pop and rap
@@geetbehera3593 Maybe I was lucky that day.
The create such a dark and intese atmosphere, it's amazing!
Gives me goosebumps every time
So beautiful
Pure beauty. Reminds me a very dark time in my life, but sounds like liberation to me...
So beautiful ! so powerful and deep dark !
Це така крута група я слухаю їхню музику зовсім недавно хоча рок слухаю вже 50 років дякую інтернету і ютюбу
I first heard this about a time I broke up with a woman I thought I'd share the rest of my life with. It is very sad but that ending is a beautiful mixture of tragedy and yet hope at the same time. So at least to me this is a personal favorite. Awesome band!
Fall of 2023 is upon us my dudes 🫡
First Opeth song I ever heard..
00:35 "where's metal?... where's the fucking metal?"
Qliphirot just a fucking idiot
what a bellend
I love this song.
I am entranced...he sings and growls so effortlessly. Phenomenal live!
Good recording and mix. Love this song so much. Tuesday, November 16 Asheville, NC. I will be there!
What a voice!
Amazing song...
M-E-N-D-E-Z
watching this. 10 years later.. love it
I sold my soul to !Opeth.!., so I am already in heaven now.
love the combination of guitars....
flawless
whole piece is nice, but from 1:57 i could listen whole day. sooo gooood
This F'ing rules, amazing how great this sounds live. Love when the heavy part kicks in, sounds incredible. I think my favorite part starts at 3:16, Mikael and Fredrik playing those melodic lines is just awesome...both have excellent vibratos.
The best of Opeth
I have my med school entrance exam in a few hours and I'm trying to calm down watching Opeth live :/
Opeth was the only band that I would come back from the exam to listen to. Half an hour or an hour of Opeth. All through out my first year of med school it was only Opeth I used to listen to. I still remember all through my Biochemistry exam my mind used to hum “I feel the dark” and “God is dead” in my mind. Funny and beautiful times
So... how did it go?
No matter how many times i'll listen to this song, it'll always give me shivers as if it was the 1st time i heard the song. amazing.
