Lyrics
Please remedy my confusion
And thrust me back to the day
The silence of your seclusion
Brings night into all you say
Pull me down again
And guide me into pain
I'm counting nocturnal hours
Drowned visions in haunted sleep
Faint flickering of your powers
Leaks out to show what you keep
Pull me down again
And guide me into
There is failure inside
This test I can't persist
Kept back by the enigma
No criterias demanded here
Deadly patterns made my wreath
Prosperous in your ways
Pale ghost in the corner
Pouring a caress on your shoulder
Puzzled by shrewd innocence
Runs a thick tide beneath
Ushered into inner graves
Nails bleeding from the struggle
It is the end for the weak at heart
Always the same
A lullaby for the ones who've lost all
Reeling inside
My gleaming eye in your necklace reflects
Stare of primal regrets
You turn your back and you walk away
Never again
Spiralling to the ground below
Like Autumn leaves left in the wake to fade
away
Waking up to your sound again
And lapse into the ways of misery
20 year old me is in the crowd somewhere, still to this day one of my favourite gigs
May I ask what year was this? Is it 2008?
@@carlogonzales9417 no it was a lot earlier than that 2003 just after they released damnation
I wish I had the privelege of attending an Opeth show at such a time. I am glad you got to experience it :)
The live version of deliverance from that night is my favourite song ever
Cool story bro
For a period of time, OPETH was the best band on the planet
always some new twist. does not diminish how good they still are.
ehhh slipknot and cannibal corpse were in the same league throughout the 2000s
@@spitefuldeer are you fr? I love slipknot but no way
@@tristan_31_20 well i’m just a big slipknot fan i guess lol
@@spitefuldeer LOL no
This is the best version Opeth ever had. Lopez was such a beast.
Awesome Drummer
The more and more I listen to Opeth the more I rate this band probably best Metal band around...
Opeth's music isn't easy. You really need to understand and feel that to really enjoy it. It's true art for specific group of people who can appreciate it, it's not for everyone. That's why they are not more popular and I'm glad about that
Scream Bloody Gore..Are you glad about that?that's one of the reasons that this band doesn't take proper recognition..Most metalheads are keeping this "incredible discovery" for themselves because it makes them feel special and unique for fuck's sake..I agree with you nonetheless..Fortunately this band doesn't make easy-commercial music..but you spoiled your statement with the last sentence!
They big as fuck now man.but its all because of their newer sound, which is meh for me,most people i ask now only listen to heritage and up.
nailed it.
Modern Opeth is so close to commercial music it even could be played on any radio. Would not be surprised by hearing era while driving.
I can't believe some guy at Sputnikmusic said this song (and 2 other songs from BP) were "boring to the point of tears"!! To me this, Bleak and Blackwater Park are my favorite songs out of the album. All the atmosphere, the ambience in those songs are just amazing. Breathtaking even! But that's my opinion. BP will remain to many (if not all) Opeth fans the greatest album the band ever released! And to know that Steven Wilson had something to do with that, makes me like it even more. That man definitely knows what he does. Amazing work! Would've been nice to hear him singing like he did in the album though :)
Those music critics enjoy the guitar-wankery type of music.
They probably know nothing of what they are talking about, so don't let them rate your tastes!
Most reviewers on Sputnikmusic are also amateurs like you and me, I did a few reviews there for example. Reviews are subjective.
Totally agreed !
I don't believe that Blackwater Park has the greatest tracks of Opeth's career. What it does have, however, is coherent and consistent quality greater than all their other albums and therefore, as a record, Blackwater Park is their best.
I dunno man. Still Life might be my favorite. Depends what I feel like at the moment. Orchid through Watershed are all awesome and that's why they're my favorite band. Ever...
I really like how Opeth is using growls. It really fits the song and makes some parts more intense. It's kinda boring, when a band does nothing else but growling.
This performance really makes me wanna see them live!
Very accurate comment :)
I agree to a certain extend but pure DM is also elite and has a massive purpose.
The only band that growls that I can stand.
Growling is so goddamn powerful here!
2:07 even that little mistake is awesome
It was kinda oof tbh :'D
When I listen to the studio version, I kinda expect that little sound and I feel sort of sad its not there, even if it is a mistake haha :P
Well, at least it was still on scale so, it still fits
I think it was kinda intentional lol
I comfort myself thinking that even Akerfeldt do mistakes haha
MARTIN LOPEZ, A FUCKING BEAST ON THIS SONG!!!!!!!!!!
+23igna This dvd is prob one of the best drumming in a concert in history. It's just perfect
23igna Genifer Lopez as well.Only difference is that she has different genital
@@Nightwolfendor he is not keeping tempo. That's your main job as a drummer.
@@albertorochareyes2427 Actually he is. Just because he plays parts of the song faster than the album version doesn't mean he's not keeping tempo.
If he was changing speeds in the same section, then he'd be doing a bad job, but I do not hear any of that here.
@@blppt it's not about sections, are you a musician? A professional musician would fire you inmediately if you can't keep tempo.
Blackwater Park will forever be the album that would be the gold standard for Prog Death Metal. The Drapery Falls, Harvest and Blackwater Park will be in my list of the best from the LP (tho no note nor lyric got wasted on that magnum opus of an album)!
Is the fucking best album, ever in existence...
the level of skill within each member of the band is incredible
Mikael's face at 10:05 personifies how I felt this entire time
This song puts a smile on my face for 11 straight minutes.
Oh my lord his growls are so on point here
Right?
@@alecvanderheyden3463 Sorry but his growls in recent years have been abysmal. He doesn't have the power and depth he once had. They sound painful when he does them now.
@@00Mindi00 actually, the depth is there (in fact, he doesn’t do his highs as often as he used to). He just lacks the crisp distortion that you get with fry screams, and the breath support needed for fry screams. You can hear him start to go toward a more false cord, Cookie Monster sound as early as the Ghost Reveries album cycle, and it just got worse from there.
While I'm not even remotely disappointed in how Opeth as turned out, I do agree that this is pure Opeth right here.
Times have changed son
If you don’t know that this was the best Opeth lineup, you don’t know Opeth.
So true. Not taking away from how they are now, but really, having grown up on My Arms Your Hearse, Still Life, Blackwater Park and Deliverance and Damnation, those were the albums that made the band.
Oh man at 10:00 when the double kick comes it and Mendez goes 4 fingers on bass...amazing combo
Yeah buddy, proving these guys know what bass and drums are supposed to do. Some people think bass should follow guitar.. NO! Bass follows drums!
"They might be a few people who never heard this side of opeth before, but this is really what we sound like" :'(
Please get over it. They do what they do best they don't do it to please anyone. Otherwise they would be sellouts or a stale band.
In my book, it’s THIS side that puts them waaaayyyy up there!
I think he meant his death metal side at that time i think it was 2005?
@@Kranon sure but let's not pretend like we don't miss it. Opeth was untouchable back then.
@@leonelcastanarez8324 2003
I’ve always been stunned at how much more than metal Opeth is.🤯
This is the real Opeth for me.
+Alejandro Sosa Everything is the real Opeth, but I agree this is the best Opeth
No man. The Blackwater Park songs are the real Opeth.
Joan Saag this is off black water park
lol) yeah
BEST Opeth
Best live performance, best formation, prime age, top notch!. Back when we don't have barely a decent internet and I watched this DVD a million times. Time flies! Miss the good old days!
Doing variations of this song on acoustic is the best aspect of this song. Opeth songs have so much room for improvisation.
The main theme riff is so hypnotic to play. The rise and fall reminds me so much of an ocean swell, with each cycle being a wave dredging up and then crashing and then sucking back out again.
This is the lineup. My band got to open up for them 2 years before this show.
RaisingConsciousness77 - blood of christ
You win at life then for me dawg
You guys still around? I need new music
Mike's vocals: Just pure ❤
lol, I've never seen Mikael being so happy... :D 10:04
😂😂😂😂
That's before he met Steven Wilson
+Shape Shifter u mean after?
fun fact, Steven wrote and played that part in studio
Shape Shifter No. Steven Wilson was a producer, keyboard player on Blackwater Park, and he even sing on Bleak song.
Gosh, it's live from times of the Opeth at its finest. Absolutely the best crew.
This is unbelievable, I am just getting into Opeth, but I have a feeling more Masterpieces like this are awaiting. Also, I can't help but feel like this is the way we would have been able to see Death today if Chuck Shuldiner hadn't passed away....
How did your journey go man
@@yigithenden126 It's been great brother, I am planning to buy a couple of their Vinyls, even the non-death progressive rock stuff, that I know a lot of people dislike but because I come from a classic rock and blues background I love it! I can't wait to see these guys live
we wouldn't be able to watch death live even if chuck was alive
@@ozzygurkaya why wouldn't we be able to watch them
To me this is the apex of metal in general
When this dvd came out it put Opeth in the number 1 position for me. This concert film set a new standard for concert films that even they couldn't capture again. A perfect moment in time
Those growls are unbelievably good.
This is the most perfect thing than could exist or existed 😭
Can't believe this is live! They have played it so well. All the elements are here❤️
9:25 best part
About Lopex vs Axe, you can definitely draw a parallel between Portnoy and Mangini. Mangini is technically a better drummer, but Portnoy fit way better in DT. Also, Portnoy sounds better live and his performances are usually far more lively and passionate, same with Lopez. Axe might be a "better" drummer, but Lopez was the perfect drummer for Opeth.
Nah I think it's different. Sure, Axe is more technical than Lopez, as is Mangini, but the groove is still there, although Axe hasn't got the latin zest that Lopez had. It's different, but Axe still grooves like a beast and is more or less spot on live.
Perfect assessment. Axe may have slightly superior technical chops... but he sounds like 1000 other guys. Lopez is waaaayyyyy more fun to listen to!
Spiralling to the ground below
Like Autumn leaves left in the wake to fade
away
Manmeet Bhatia probably the best transition in the song ....
I want, in case that for any reason I could not be able to listen to that part again in my life, never to forget how it sounds like.
11 mins of pure bliss
this is what opeth is. Fav song
This one captured live is mighty happening, Mikael's is a genius creating vocal lines, guitar tunes as heavy as harmonics, growlings and everything that comes along into ''The Drapery Falls''.
Opeth's catalog kick ass, playing live they're even sounding better as preciser🤘🤟
All the genius of Opeth in one song ..... \m/
Those growls hit me harder than a belt from a step father. Never expected them to sound so good live
89 people don't remedy his confusion.
Now 79... 😭

87
88 people need deliverance
This song blows my doors off...this performance particular.
His growls here are so on point! Love them even more than on the album!
This was their first track i ever heard. And it has my heart forever 🖤
Blackwater Park introduced me to Opeth, and I'm still down in that rabbit hole today!
I was there! Flipping brilliant!
Opeth are one of the best metal bands live, can't deny that
Opeth, the band that changed my life forever! Eternally grateful and faithful! THANKS!
i m with u. they change my life too
I THink this was a perfect show with the best line up ever, how miss this sound !!
Ehem, ladies and gentlemen... mister *MARTIN LOPEZ*.
Axe plays this song better!
Jordan Kelso shut up! No ways man!!
it blows my mind that there are people who thing axenrot is a better player
@@chrismccreight8207 He is technically a better drummer, but he lacks Lopez's feel IMHO. There's just more life in Lopez's playing. Axe is more precise, and some people prefer that.
"I see you've been working out".
I love the soft side of Opeth!! can't believe some people don't like it!
Best Metal Performance.
Probably, no, THE best lineup of the group ever. i always feel weird seeing other live performances of the songs I saw first from here. Superb, wish they'd get together again even if it's just for a stretch of a tour.
The `other` guitarist didn't care much for touring.....
I doubt that has changed.
Supposedly he and Mike still hang out often.
The drummer and Mike had some personal issues i think,
I don't think that they get along/speak to each other at all now.
Keyboardist....(i could be wrong) but i think he left to juggle multiple bands/get more paying gigs/be busier.
TL-DR.....don't hold your breath on a reunion of this line-up, if even for just one show.
man this lineup is like morningrise and the new one is like watershed (on totally different level).
Their current lineup is very, very solid. Fredrik has demonstrated that he has some vocals on him that can almost compete with Mikael
Peak Opeth. This was the first tour I saw them on and they made me cry.
STATE OF THE ART METAL... OPETH 's performance truly MAGNIFICENT!
miss you brutal opeth

the vocals at 5:10
like, god damn eh !
It never gets old
7:52 Wooaah a bit too close there, camera man haha
Lopezs snare is so tight this guy is one with his kit walls of sonic mastery I don't think Mike realized what he had here Opeth at it's finest by far !
He had a rare blood disease and was getting sick, missing shows IIRC. Gene Hoglan infamously had to step in for a couple of shows because it happened in the middle of a tour.
Its a shame, but at the time Mike really had no choice but to replace him.
Check out his band Soen. Lopez is doing well now.
My favorite share drum ever!
This is a fantasic song! Thank you Opeth!
By far the best line up right here!
This song has always been my favorite!😆 The power, the emotions, and everything else that goes with it.😘 Opeth forever! Crazy Gary
the thing I enjoy the most in a show is see the happiness of the Band playing. this vídeo has the most happy face I have ever seen in a opeth show hahahah
Lopez and Mendez = ridiculous rhythm section. That bridge from 6:50 - 8:35 is literally off the chains.
Finally saw these guys live recently from being a fan for over 15 years, Played the most perfect set for me personally, beyond words!
BEST BAND EVER, LIVE!!!!! OH MY heart!
came here to see how much his growls have changed. he was the best, his vocals are other wordly
Why are all the guys in opeth so beautiful?
See you in Denver this March 2020!
That outro/intro melody might be the single greatest peace of music I have ever heard.
great performance ! growls were just huge... and love Martin Mendez sound and drumming
I really wish I was born before opeth realesed orchid, so I could experience opeth in their Blackwater Park era and so on, I only discovered them a year ago and it makes me sad I will never be able to experience a concert were mikael can properly growl
To make you feel better, my first time seeing them was this tour in Australia, and 8 times thereafter
This song is a journey in itself.
One of my favourite songs from opeth
This song has everything. Amazing and good!
Mendez killin' it
I am a new fan and I wish I heard them earlier .
Get everything they’ve done, you’ll see their progression. It’s all good. Also never miss a chance to see them live, when we’re able to again.

OMG that bass melody!!
I don’t think I’ve actually heard any of Opeth ?
I came across this band just a few days ago.
And it’s like where the fuck have I been...
I’m loving what I’m hearing 💫
That lead still gives me chills 15 odd years later haha
"We'll try not to make too many fuck ups"...lmao. Love every second of this. I have watched this DVD dozens of times.
Watch the Royal Albert show and the Red Rocks one---both have like 1-2 minute long interruptions due to equipment failure. An Opeth concert is quite an adventure, lol.
This line up though... Best imo
One big thank you for all your songs and for make me feel like you make me feel when i listen to your songs.
What a masterpice!
One of the Best Opeth songs ever ❤️🎵
It is NOT a PUFF song it is a AMAZING piece of music!
this is why opeth is the greatest band to ever exist
Lopez, Jesus what a drummer. His touch and feel is irreplaceable.
9:29 this touched me!
That snare is heaven!
I wish he let the song breathe a little more at some points like he does in the studio
Damn... A few points in this song... Music just doesn't get better.. Period.. Well played Opeth... Well played
Te amo con la vida Opeth ❤️
5:43 I absolutely love this alternate live version of the solo. Way more shreddy and bluesy than the studio version. Though, in recent live versions of this song he's played it faithful to the album.
A long time ago I read that he said he didn't know the solo on the studio version. He's obviously gone back and learned it recently.
That synchronized headbang at 6:16
What a piece of art!
And they nail it .
The final 2 lines don't have the same power without Steven singing along.
ulan mikael şu dünyada en kıskandığım ve hayran olduğum adamların başında sen varsın.
