I'm so happy I stopped using her so I didn't lose anything too valuable. She's the strongest healer but I've found with Final Fantasy, I'm rather neurotic to hand over control of healing to anyone else. I don't want to wait for the healer, I'd rather do it myself because if I as leader fall in battle, everything is over. I can always revive a teammate. FF7 was my first time playing such a game and once I figured that out about myself, she was off the team and subbed for Tifa, lol.
But ... In reality, you only lose her weapon (which is only used by her) and her armlet.
Any materia and accessory she had equipped is automatically sent to your inventory after she leaves the party.
I think the joke is also a reference to Final Fantasy II where characters die left and right and many items you didn't unequip from them are usually gone for good
That's screwed me to various extents in every playthrough.....

@Christopher Barnes It's that, or the fact that the entire area around them is Lifestream that's affected with Jenova Cells, so Sephiroth can alter them to show or be anything, so to give the party utter depair (because he likes to fuck with heads like that), he shows the party the solar system getting destroyed.
@@WanderSeth Yeah that could explain it, but the fact that it CAN'T kill the characters is pathethic. In fact Safer Sephiroth fight is one of the biggest let downs in the history of gaming. Easiest final boss in any game I've ever played, but the music is wonderful lol.
Daniel Escovedo Then you must have only played FFVII and Lucifer’s Call, where Lucifer is the only battle more difficult than Sephiroth. And yes I have played many games, which includes Devil May Cry on Dante must Die on PS1.

@@DanielEscovedo That is because Sephiroth does not scale based on your parties level. If you head straight for Sephiroth and do like zero side work he is tough. You get any optional items and he becomes easier and easier.

In regards to Aerith's death, I feel Cloud's pain. She was my general magic user, so I equipped the Edincoat on her because it had 7 materia slots. When she died and took it to the bottom of the lake with her, I wanted to cry too.

Buddy, I've been playing video games since the 80's. I AM a real gamer. And I distinctly remember playing FF7 on the original Playstation back in the 90's and Aerith taking my Edincoat with her when she died. I got my materia back from her, but not her equipment. I KNOW I didn't get it back because I went to put it on Yuffie and it wasn't fucking there, even after I searched my whole inventory screen.

Hah! Cait Sith is EVERYBODY'S least favourite character. (Seriously, I don't know anyone who actually likes that asshole). The only thing that made me sad about him dying to get the Black Materia is that he was replaced by an exact copy.
Firstly, if you're gonna have this big emotional moment showing a character willingly sacrificing himself to help save the world, don't undo it by basically bringing the character back a few seconds later!
Secondly, that big emotional moment might have had more impact with the players if it had been a character they actually cared about, rather than the douchebag none of them could stand.

I'm so glad they included this. 😂 Every playthrough I set an All materia to a double AP weapon. Once you sell a mastered All you're basically set for the game. But I personally like to always have an All equipped just for the purpose of mastering and selling!

@@TheOtherSideBooks yep. By far the easiest way to get money early in the game, and honestly maybe overall in the whole game. I think it's the easiest materia to master and for some reason it sells for an absurd amount of money.
Once you sell one you are basically set for the entire game. I don't think you really even need that much money. Some equipment, a few materias, tents, ethers, remedies, phoenix downs, tranquilizers, hypers, and the gold saucer unlimited pass are basically the only things you need.
EDIT: Oh and chocobo greens/stables much later in the game, and MAYBE the Costa Del Sol house if you REALLY want it.

The existence of Supernova was always my biggest problem with FF7. An attack that crosses the galaxy, destroying multiple planets and you can survive it just fine. But a one hit katana to the back? Instant, permanent death for Aeris .

You are right xD why did she had to die?was it because of plot? Phoenix down doesn't work when you really need it? Or maybe you have to be fighting and not passively die for it to work! Or maybe cloud preferred tifa's pointy bits more F)
Technically Phoenix Down stops working when someone actually dies. They can merely revive someone that's unconscious or near-death.
it cures incapacitation... not death.

Sure, you could suggest that it saves you from near-death, but that doesn’t really follow Final Fantasy tradition. In FFV, any KO’d characters in the final battle are dead in the epilogue. Same goes for FFTA for every battle if I remember right.
All materia automatically unequips from Aerith when she leaves your party for the final time, as does her Accessory. Her item and armor, on the other hand, is up to you.
The reason for this is because the game can't auto-unequip weapons and armor, there has to be something in those slots. Materia and Accessory slots can be empty, so when Aerith leaves the party for good, the game automatically empties those slots.
Well I'll be damned! Today I learned!
