One time back in Naples... I work in the garden as a landscaper for a very rich man. Just me, I work there alone, growing olives. My hands in the dirt, the hot sun. Furio has always been my favorite character.
The scones are a great metaphor in that scene - Furio recognizes Carmella's skill at baking, comments with great affection and respects her efforts while being cheerful. Tony comes downstairs, barely notices them, picks one up, takes a single bite and tosses it back on the same dish without a care in the world. One shows love and respect, one shows mere convenience and little interest.

Carmella was a deeply flawed character, just like every character on The Sopranos, but she was always one of my favorites. If it wasn't for the incredible writing and Edie Falco's pitch perfect performance, Carmella could have easily fallen into being a boring, one-dimensional character.
I guess that’s part of it. I was thinking more like Tony indulges while Furio doesn’t.
Tony and Carmela have two kids together and they've been married for years. If Furio had the same history with her, I'd imagine he's not gonna be fascinated by the scones every single time.
That wasn't my point. @@fullmetalheel It was a metaphor for how each man was treating her. I'm not discussing the motivation for each man nor the background. One valued her and one didn't.

I remember seeing this clip of Furio and his uncle on UA-cam and there was a woman in the comments claiming this was her real life non-actor uncle from US who got the role by accident because he looked funny and was speaking fluent Italian with Neapolitan accent, they flew him to Italy and all, supposedly that was a trip of his life!

This is true, verified by Federico Castelluccio on a podcast I saw during COVID. He was a neighbor in New Jersey and Federico got him the part.
It reminds me of Rob Wiethoff. He is an established actor now but back then, just a regular guy who got into gaming industry and flourished after that.
Furio’s uncle was probably the wisest and most knowledgeable character in The Sopranos the way he warns Furio about Tony and Carmela shows that he’s been around mob bosses long enough to know that while most of them may be violent and dangerously petty and vindictive lunatics they are not stupid or ignorant sucked that Furio disappeared but it probably hints that he listened to his uncle and wisely did what he said
And the old adage: loose lips sink ships.
Never know when somebody driving around, walking, whatever might be amd see something and report back to a boss that could have whacked. Or some rando that knows and sells info for money who knows. But indeed don't be stupid as old man said lol

Part of the multi-arguments on who killed Tony, this could have been Furio.
Furio's uncle wasn't wrong about the bosses always finding out. Had Furio stayed, Tony would have found out eventually and had him whacked, either because Carmella would have told him about it, or he would have found out on his own because he's not stupid.

Man, Furio wanted to kill Tony. Good thing he bailed on back for Italy. I'm still surprised Carmela actually admitted her feelings for Furio to Tony.
In my mind I always viewed it that Carmella regretted telling Tony about her feelings for Furio, but in the moment she was desperate for Tony to understand what she had always felt about Tony's affairs.
It's why Furio had to take action. He kills Tony and faces the fallout (I doubt he lives long with plenty of people gunning for him to avenge killing a boss and get some legitimacy points) or bails out. If he commited they would be caught sooner or later, someone would spot them or Tony would find out on his own, he's dysfunctional, but not stupid. Or Carmella would flap her tongue and let it slip.
Carmela with the short hair...reminds me of Hillary Clinton. And that's not a good reminder.

I’m new to this community, but memes aside, it’s so tragic to see two people so badly in love, but unable to be together because they’d likely be killed for it. And, that while he hated how Tony treated her and had a perfect opportunity to have him die in an accident, he also was loyal enough to just walk away.
