This clip hillariously captures the pitfalls of power. Silvio can't even take a dump in peace, his wife has her eye on the money and is trying to manipulate him, and then "Sil, I didn't hear from ya" as he's hauled away on oxygen lying on a stretcher. So funny!!!

@@muskegontribune Great line.
TBF Tony was scared of sil finding out about Ralph, if Sil found out then he and the others would've killed Tony.
@@Liamm_7 Interesting! I had thought that Sil quietly hated Ralph for what he did to Tracy and loved it when Tony at least hit Ralph, but was too respectful of protocal to express it.
@@normancook965 Sil didn't care for Ralph but Ralph was a made guy, Sil sided with Ralph over Tracy, stating Tony had no relationship with her so he shouldn't have slapped Ralph and should make him a captain as a gesture, Albert the parrot said Sil would be the first to take Tony out if he killed Ralph over a horse and Tony throughout the series is scared of Chris revealing what happened to Ralph, he'd be dead, new York was willing to kill Jonny sack for Ralph, it was the first thing Tony asked Chris about when he learned about Adriana because he knows his crew would get him either before or whilst in jail, Sil was also siding with New York over the Tony B murders so... Sil knows when to pick his battles when it comes to siding with Tony or not.

Ah yes, Jahnny Hanrikson.
This montage shows the role Tony filled with his leadership style - Everyone was afraid of him so no one second-guessed his decisions. He was impulsive and violent, but the men he led needed a strong hand
Exactly plus Sil was trying to hard to make everyone happy and everyone smelled that easily and pushed as much as they could especially Vito and Bobby they knew damn well especially When Bobby said I’m bound to do something drastic Tony would have chewed his ass out but even before that before season 5b or 5 in general Tony for the most part if it wasn’t family like Junior Tony B or Chrissy he wouldn’t try to make everyone happy like Sil but he wouldn’t be such an ass to risk mutiny besides Richie and Feech but those were Dinosaurs who didn’t respect Tony no matter what he did but he did try and be fair unless he needed to teach a lesson with Ralphie like in this situation with Vito and Junior he would have most likely settled in Bobby’s favor since Bobby was juniors crew successor and took his remaining business Tony didn’t take but would give a smaller kick up to Vito like 10% especially since Vito was the biggest earning captain at the time making so much off the Esplanade but even if after Tony’s answer would be final

I think Sil was too...diplomatic to be boss. Being a boss and making hard decisions that will upset some people and please others, is a hard thing to do, and Tony didn't mind doing it. But Sil wants to keep everyone at least a little happy, which only makes him look weak, so those who don't get what they want don't fear him to stay in line.
He would’ve had his hand forced eventually. Silvio’s mental and physical health was his downfall, he would’ve been a boss like Carmine; who was also diplomatic. But Silvio would have adjusted, not before a power struggle though. Had Sil been in the position 5+ years before he would’ve been perfect he also suffered from a lack of young manpower, making violence less viable.
Theres something going on with Sil's allergies and his wife saying 'you wouldn't sneeze at it' re; being boss.
Then Sil is in the hospital beside the flowers, after complaining about pollen.
That's absolutely correct with leadership in general
For a minute there Vito legit thought there was a chance he could become boss 🤣 can you imagine his penguin ass being called Skipper?

@siqueboy david chase is a comedic genius
This gives some context as to why Tony was so obnoxiously self-absorbed towards the end. The stress of all these grasping mafiosa each wanting their piece of the pie. Silvio was maybe fairer, but didn't have the charisma and intimidation factor that Tony did.
People deal with anxiety differently. Tony had panic attack, , Sils asthma kicked up 10 fold when he got the job. It’s obviously a job that consumes whoever holds it with stress and anxiety
Sil never had the makings of a Varsity Mob Boss

Gerry Torchiano aka the haircut aka Walt fuckin Whitman ovaaa heeeaaa
Gerry was a very allegorical fella
Dr. Ben Casey ova here
One big problem Sil had is once he stepped up to fill the power role he had no one to act as his consigliere and help shoulder the burden. All the stress was on him alone and he had no one to bounce problems off of to get feedback and different perspective. Also he was trying to have a lighter touch as he couldn't easily get overtly final/violent to put the fear of discipline into the rest of the family. And they were all so used to interacting with him more as an equal they had no real fear of him as boss and were far too comfortable questioning him and trying to push him around.
He probably should of immediately made a very clear example out of someone questioning/back-talking him to cut it all short before it gained momentum. It's what that crew understands and how it already functioned.
Couldn't agree more. There's a channel on UA-cam called Sopranos Streets and they analyze different characters/scenarios on the show. It's a really great channel. In one of their videos, they analyze what Silvio could have done to make his time as acting boss less stressful and the answer they came up with was for him to appoint a strong number 2 of his own who would enforce his decisions and rulings.
@Blaise Pascal Paulie probably would of been the best choice because Paulie was the most openly rebellious and difficult in general. Putting him down would of sent the strongest message with the least amount of people involved.
Problem being that Paulie would be a struggle to put into place. He's tough and confrontational and Sil would need to be willing to go real far to press the issue onto Paulie and make him submit. And no matter what Paulie would carry the grudge.
Chris and Paulie should have been in those roles.
@@liamwatson6789Chris and Paulie as the consigliere and underboss would sink the family in 2 weeks

@Frank Castle A fuck like Hollywood Clips? Appeasement don't work.
It's very interesting to see someone as tough and experienced as Sil, not handling well boss' responsibility, I was not expecting this. He was acknowledged by everybody as the crisis leader, he enjoyed his new role in a way, yet he proved not to have what it takes to be the number one.
He didn't enjoy it at all. He hated it.
I just watching Sopranos first time and finished first season yesterday. It makes sense that he does not want to be the acting Boss, it has too much responsibilities and very stressful. Tony did not wanted to be the boss too.
The interesting thing was that Silvio seemed to hwve gotten way more shit than Tony, probably because Tony set up a ruthless precedent, and as soon as he was out everyone was looking for a shake up to test the comparatively agreeable Sil and see what they could get.
@@iannordin5250 prolly because:
1. Their business growing bigger under Tony which led to more money, more money incites more greed.
2. More and more people getting clipped the remaining people fighting to take their cut.
@@iannordin5250 Tony handles lots of bigger issues. Silvio couldcnot handle a small territory beef between bobby and vito.

6:47 that last look sil gives to Bobby
Sil is imagining how satisfying it’d be to throttle Bobby 🤣🤣🤣
Clearly Silvio could not handle being boss. It's a 24 hour headache. Almost took this man out and he was only acting boss.
yah it certainly is a burden. yah theres benefits but its a two sided coin it took a toll on tony as well
he didn't have a sil to filter all of the petty stuff. Tony passed out
@@chrismemphis8062 i'd say he didn't have the commanding aura where his word was final. Just the way Bobby alone was behaving around him says it all.
It's cause Sil didn't have his own sil like tony did, and more importantly everyone knew Sil was an agreeable guy. There was a power vacuume and they wanted to see what they could push and test the waters
It's definetly stressful but I think silvio specifically has it much harder because it seems he has anxiety + the asthma making it a horrible combo.
Sils wife is so good to him .Very supportive and sweet natured.
And ... His (The Actor's) real wife in real life.

" I'm buying Tony a nice little shinebox for the room, he dont need dat"
Paulie got robbed from the thing. He almost died to steal that money. Vito did nothing expect for the tip.
Remember the Ralph vs Paulie. Paulie gave the codes and got 12k 😂
True. I didn't used to see it this way. I used to think it should have been 50/50 but that wouldn't make sense because Paulie took all the risk. Paulie was the one killing people and risking jail time, and the one risking his life. All Vito did was have a tip.

4:05 lol the subtle eye movement of Sil when Vito called him Skip. Looks almost that he was gonna give Vito a better deal untill he said that
Nah. That's not how acting/story telling works. If the director intended to communicate that Sil was offended by "skip," it wouldn't be THAT subtle. It would be a double take followed by a pause and a smirk/grimace...or something like that.
