@@TyrellKnifeworks absolutely, I like all of the damascus patterns but the twisted one is easily my favourite, gives the knife a completely different look. Looking forward to it.
Re: wandering drill bit, drill pilot holes with a smaller bit, offset from the edge by the difference in radius between the two. Great video, I'm learning a lot about the entire knife-making process by watching your vods.
I am digging this Damascus pattern! Great build as usual and I’m glad to see how you worked with the zebrawood because I worked with it for the first time and was completely unimpressed with the pores
You should see the finish you can get with Starbond. I do bentwood rings and do 10-12 coats on my rings. Sand up to 12000 grit and then buff. It is a mirror finish. It is a great product! Try it sometime you won’t be disappointed! No more oil finish is correct and people will be amazed at the shininess of your handles. Don’t take my word for it just try it on a scrap piece of wood and see for yourself. Should take about 20 minutes with the fast set spray!
Have to, I've read all the books I can find, watched thousands of hours of videos, have been amassing tool I can afford, and have plenty of farm steel, and scrap r.r. spikes to get going as a hobby.....dreaming of the day I can responsibly spend 15k on what I want to do pro, not side hustle hobbyist You, and the other makers are truly inspirational. Keep up the beautiful work!
Awesome knife and handle. One thing to look out for is sometimes using the accelerator it can cause the glue to haze over. Not really a problem if you sand between coats but just something to look out for. It doesn’t do it all of the time but it’s happened to me a couple of times
Yeah, I could imagine it would do that. I’m not a fan of the super shiny finish so I prefer to sand it down and then buff it abs that seems to be a good level of shine for me. 👍
@@TyrellKnifeworks to be honest mainly work but lack of equipment like an anvil and the fact I devoted a lot of my time to it and not my family made me feel guilty. I rather enjoyed fancy file work to the spine and tang. This was the part of knife making I was good at. I'd love to see you do some of that on your channel.
@@chrismartell1197 I’m not really that much of a fan of file work on the spine of my knives. It seems to take away from the Damascus. Maybe at some point on a mono steel knife.
